Edited by: Dawson on 24/05/2005 09:48:23 BRITISH SPACE CORP: ACADEMY
About Us
The British Space Corp: Academy (BSCAC) is expanding and we want YOU to join us!
The British Space Corporation is a multiracial ship-building enterprise, one of the first 10 still-existing corporations founded in the Corporate Boom of Year 105. We are open for business producing starships at most levels, for the majority of races. Comprising of seasoned EVE pilots - veterans of combat including campaigns during our days in CA and Fade, construction and trade - the BSC has gone, and continues to go, from strength to strength.
Recruitment
At the British Space Corporation, we pride ourselves on our employee support packages, beginning with our mentoring system for new recruits, and escalating through to our reimbursement packages for those rare ellusive market finds.
As an ambitious company in the EVE Universe, we are a corporation of like-minded individuals, and all our employees are hand selected via interview. Please be aware, however, that former pirates or notorious outlaws and their ilk are not acceptable candidates for interview.
Academy Road Map - "We dont buy the best, we make them!"
In joining the BSCAC you will go through a number of stages to bring you up to speed with the eve univerise and eventully turn you into a skilled pilot. This is done through a series of modules that will be taught to you...
Module 1 - Welcome to BSCA - The Basics Lesson Plan - Effective Teamwork - Hi Buddy Lesson Plan - Beware - Scanning Local for Threats
Module 2 - Getting Started Lesson Plan - Introduction to Fighting - Go kill a Rat Lesson Plan - Mining Operations - Setting up an MO Lesson Plan - Speed - The need for speed
Module 3 - Intermediate Level Lesson Plan - Standings 1 - Some basics - Looking at Standings Lesson Plan - Trading - A basic guide to trading Lesson Plan - Electronic Warfare - Make them blind, helpless and slow, then hit them hard
Module 4 - Advanced Level and Specialisms Lesson Plan - Travel in 0.0 - Rubber Duck we have a Convoy Lesson Plan - PvP 1 - Frigate Training Lesson Plan - PvP 3 - Serious Rat Hunting Lesson Plan - PvP 6 - Advanced Electronic Warfare
This is just a snip of what you will undergo but as you can see its quite extensive and you will be taught everything to make you a skilled pilot.

Hi.
So I am currently a member of a corp, I'm not planning on leaving the corp at the moment, but if I were to, it would be to a British corp due to being a Brit myself, and also because a lot of the time i sign on and there's no b*gger about. So to get a bit more info about BSCAC, to compare against my current corp, can you answer a few questions bearing in mind that my main is somewhat mid-range, with about 6 mill SPs. Answering these questions may also help to answer other prospective members queries in advance...
1) what does the corp do primarily? PvP, Mining, Manufacturing, Hunting, Bounties...... 2) What are your centres of operation - I mean I have all these bookmarked routes for the trading and hunting i do, it would be a shame to move right away from the areas i know... 3) Do you have access to 0.0? (I guess 'are you a member of an alliance?' might be just as good a question) 4) Corp commitments - what would be expected in terms of mining/sentry/gate/POS defence duty? 5) Do you have a member or members who have perfect PE - will they build ships for corp members who provide a BPC and the minerals? 6) What wars / alliance conflicts are you involved with at the moment? 7) Lastly but certainly not leastly, how many active members do you have at the moment (not including Alt accounts)?
Thanks,
PB

To answer some of your questions BSCAC is actully a training facility of the main corp BSC or the british space corp. BSCAC was also formed to give everyone a short probation before moving into BSC proper to weed out undesirables. A short period in the Academy will help us spot bad uns. Unless you come from a well trusted corp, or from another BSC guild in another game - with references.
We have around 80-100 members if you include BSCAC & BSC. We have common chat channels and operate alongside each other all the time. We have A long history in EVE being one of the first 10 corporations that are still active today, although our numbers have declined over the years from our once mega corp manufactoring status we in recent months are on the rise again and in turn reopened our recruitment.
Starship Construction
As mentioned we are a Ship/Manufacturing corp and can now produce virtually any ship in demand of high quality. This is our bread and butter and what we are good at it. A sample of some of things we can produce, but bare in mind this list i'am forwarding is out of date. We produce more now.
Inteceptor Crusader (Amarr) Frigate Crucifier (Amarr), Executioner (Amarr), Inquisitor (Amarr), Punisher (Amarr), Tormentor (Amarr), Bantam (Caldari), Condor (Caldari), Griffin (Caldari), Heron (Caldari), Kestrel (Caldari), Merlin (Caldari), Atron (Gallente), Imicus (Gallente), Incursus (Gallente), Maulus (Gallente), Navitas (Gallente), Tristan (Gallente), Breacher (Minmatar), Burst (Minmatar), Probe (Minmatar), Rifter (Minmatar), Slasher (Minmatar), Vigil (Minmatar) Industrials Bestower (Amarr), Badger (Caldari), Badger MkII (Caldari), Iteron MkI (Gallente), Iteron MkII (Gallente), Iteron MkIII (Gallente), Iteron MkIV (Gallente), Iteron MkV (Gallente), Hoarder (Minmatar), Mammoth (Minmatar) Cruisers Caracal (Caldari), Blackbird (Caldari), Moa (Caldari), Maller (Amarr), Omen (Amarr), Thorax (Gallente), Vexor (Gallente), Rupture (Minmatar), Stabber (Minmatar) Battleships Apocalypse (Amarr), Armageddon (Amarr), Scorpion (Caldari), Raven (Caldari), Megathron (Gallente), Tempest (Minmatar)
Political Affiliations
The British Space Corporation has long stood for an anti-piratical stance - and does not condone piracy or "privateering" in any fashion. We will not trade with, or deal with such outlaws in any fashion.
In the political arena, the BSC has its roots in Amarr Space and prior to the death of the late Heideran VII, was often associated with the Tash-Murkon House. The crowning of Doriam II has seen the BSC move into a new arena.
History
The British Space Corporation is a manufacturing corporation was allied with the Curse Regional Alliance, and within it, the C4 Military Partnership. We were also a member of the Fade Union before joining The foundation in the great wildlands
Base of Operations
As mentioned we are now part of the foundation and have access to 0.0 space and our POS which is located in the Great Wildlands. We generaly operate around this area.
Corporate Structure
The British Space Corporation consists of three main departments, each of which are split into sub-branches which perform specific roles in the corporation.
The Royal Communication Depatment (RCD) is charged with the recruitment of employees (Human Resources), the maintenance of our corporate image through corporate agents (Public Relations) and the formation of relationships with other corporations and empires (Diplomacy).
The Royal Industrial Department (RID) is the core of the BSC's operations. Consisting of Construction, Reseach & Development and Astrogeology sub-departments, it is this stalwart crew that turn out the corporations high-quality goods and starships.
The Royal Security Department (RSD) is in charge of the safety and welfare of the British Space Corporation in both friendly and hostile space. They are all equipped to highest British standards - ready to face any opponent. As mentioned our pilots have been involved in alliance wars in Curse, fade and now great wildlands we have some very skilled PVP pilots.

Hi there
I am StarshipTrooper, Captain in the BSC. I'll try and answer ur questions as best i can:
1. As mentioned we are primarly a manufacturing corp, and with that comes a need to mine for minerals with which to produce the ships we need. However, mining is not for everyone so we have our dept that mainly deals with PvP'ing in GW, along side our various friends and allies. basically, u are free to do that which u feel u can do better at, within reason of course.
2. Our current centre of opperation is located in the Molden Heath Region.
3. We do infact have access to 0.0. But as u are aware, in 0.0, any1 can fire on you, so u need to be sharp out there. :)
4. What we like to see is everyone within the corp working togather as a team in what ever op we are involved in, but we never make you do something that u dount feel comfortable with.
5.We have quiet afew members that have a 5/5 production effeciency and we own nearly all the Bp's for the T1 ships and mods. If u require a special T2 ship built that we do not have, we can very easily build it for you.
6. We have no official concord wars on at the moment, but we are actively fighting various corporations in GW.
7. Actively, we have about 71 active players, 92 members more or less.
I hope this answers ur questions. If u have anymore, dont hesitate to ask and i'll be happy to answer them for you.

Hi Cromatec, Dawson, thanks very much for taking the time to answer. Sounds like you have a good sized corp and should I decide that it's time to move on from my current corp, I will be sure to give you a shout.
In answer to your comment about access to 0.0, I am aware that it's open season out there, and that you need to watch local like a hawk, but I do like to hunt in 0.0. It's the constant running of blockaded gates that wears me down especially as since the map nerf came in you never really know if you are jumping into a system with a full on Gank setup on the other side........ its just too damn easy to lose 300m of ship, equipment and implants.........
Hope to see you around and good luck with the recruiting drive, i wish you every success.

Thanks for your intrest Pistonbroke. Hope to see you flying with us in the future. In reguards to 0.0 space, getting to our POS and blockade running is no probblem with a good set of insta's, very safe space. Plus having the alliance fleet around when needed helps quite a bit too :)

Edited by: Mister Q on 11/05/2005 14:33:43 I have been a member of the BSC for about 9 months now and enjoyed every minute of it. The first and last corp I'll be joining I have to say. Everyone does what they can to help the corp and each other. My contributions include donating and selling copious amounts of minerals to the corp to construct our wide range of ships, helping new players establish what they want to do (which is MINE by the way!). My activity is on and off depending on real life but the members who pretty much live in EVE are always looking to get together with other members to run joint mining ops and wolfpacks to keep everyone entertained.
Anyways that's my two isk

I would say the majority of players are active during GMT. Couldn't give you an exact figure but somewhere between 10-20 people frequent the joint BSC and BSCA channel during GMT evenings I'd say.

Yeah as Q said, most of our members are online during the GMT hours. The bulk in the evenings 5-6pm onwards when people have returned from work. Although there are quite a few of us, such as me that are online during the afternoon.
Also we have quite the substantial player base in the US time zone, or what we call our night crew.
Join our ingame channel "BSC public" if you would like to ask any more questions.

BSC originally started in Earth and Beyond. We were a very large well organised guild. Eventully some of our members got into the Eve-online beta that alot had been waiting for.
Anyway a group branched off and set up the british space corp in Eve during beta and the day of retail. Infact we are one of the First 10 corps that are still active today.
So to answer your question, we have alot of experince and been playing a long time. As for PVP we have great pilots that have been involved in battles with such alliances as the NVA, CFS, CA, FU and now battles with foundation in the great wildlands. As you can see we have been invlolved in alot over the years and it shows with our pilots experince that will be taught to anyone willing to learn.
Hope this Helps

I've been playing EVE since Beta-5 and I still love it... Having started in our own corp [TLE] with a few of my EnB friends at the time, we've merged with [BSC] a long time ago, merging our assets, blueprints, problems, and friendship. I started as cannon fodder on the frontlines, fought in the Amarr Championship under The Enslaver's command, followed Duke Droklar and Tholarim [OC at the time] in the Esoteria Campaign, and defended Curse in our time with CA. I've learned all I know about EVE Universe while I was with [BSC], met a lot of great characters, fought alongside and against some of the greatest EVE commanders who will forever have my respect no matter which side of the barrel they will be.
I came into the BSC family as an outsider, started as a grunt fighter pilot. I am now one of the Directors, in charge of the Royal Security Department, Admiral Of The Corp Fleet, and that was my story.

Just to add my two penn'oth. I joined the BSC in EnB in early 2003. I watched as some of our members went off to the fledgling Eve game, but decided against leaving EnB at the time.
When EnB went to the great junkyard in the sky I signed up for Eve, and before long was joining the ranks of the BSC (directly, as a trusted BSC-er from another game).
I've never looked back. I'm one of these players with tough RL commitments (and an even tougher wife), but the BSC let me get on with things at my own pace.
There are freebies, I think I have had a frig, destroyer, cruiser, a couple of skills, and numerous upgrades, but freebies is not what the BSC is about.
Similarly, there are expectations that you will get involved in corp activities, but no pressure to do so, and time input is never onerous.
The corp membership is also fairly mature. We don't have too many hotheads (though we've had our share of those) and most players will make others feel welcome.
I look forward to a long and happy relationship with the game and the corp.

Great Corp, I was in BSC: EnB, the first corp i'd ever joined, they were great & i rose in the ranks till i grew bored with the game (as did a lot of peeps), when i decided to try eve, my first stop was to knock on BSC's door. I again had a great time, the only reson i left was my gameplay tastes in EVE tended towards the Freelance solo style of play.

I'm a BS pilot who has some PVP experience.
I like the idea of moving out to 0.0 and living amongst friends who know how to enjoy Eve.
PVP invariably leaves me broke, would the Corp replace ships lost on company operations ?
How much time would I have to spend in the Acadamy before being passed onto BSC itself ?

Hey guys,
Quote: Well how much pvp do you do in a typical week then? you talking daily??
Yeah if you want to commit to it that much then yes, theres always somewhere that needs defending or attacking and yes potentialy thats combat everyday. But we in BSC also encourage the industrial sides of things, being a ship building corp and this we do very well with a excellent bpo infrastructure. But as stated previously we maintain a high PVP status. "care bears with teeth"

Sounds like BSC is just for you, we are a bunch of like minded individuals and we certainly know how to enjoy... eve you can ask Aiolos Caci all about "that"
Ship replacement, yes we do this to a certain degree, for example we can supply you with free frigates, cruisers and equipment. With BS's its slightly different, since we hold 0.0 space its very easy to make cash, from NPCing or mining. And you will always find a fellow corp mate willing to help you out if you just lost a BS. Also it is possible to get your Ship corp insured, but in doing this you gotta be willing to share your BS.
The Academy, how long will you have to spend before being premoted? basicly we use the academy also as a screener to get rid of the bad eggs that mite try to join the corp. In joining BSCA you will still get to operate very closly with us without actully joining BSC allowing us to get to know you and in turn for you to get to know us and find if this is the right place for you.
Obviously BSCA is also a training corp for BSC and we teach the BSCA members all to be know as you know how the EVE learning curve/cliff can be. And for these less experinced players once we have got to know them and we found them to be of the right material we basicly give them a choice to join BSC, stay BSCA and learn more or join BSC and let the fun begin
Anyway hope this clears up any questions, if you have any more feel free to join us ingame, channel "bsc public" or alternativly contact "Amethist Caldar" head of recruitment ingame.
thanks for your intrest guys,
DawZ

as callonious said we are friendly and willing to help, we can teach you all thats needed. Also recently we have bumped up our recruitment and PVP wing once again and joined the Forsaken Empire Alliance. We have a habbit of bringing the same if not more then some PVP corps and now getting the respect that goes with that.

Edited by: Shass Steirg on 13/09/2005 15:43:08 I've been with this corp a year and have nothing but high praise for it.
Free reign for what you want to do and when you want to do it. Nice career progression for those that work hard. No pressure about time online or real life commitments.
A great bunch of chaps all round really, who seem to get respect for what we do. A very mature and "british" outlook on the game (even from our non-UK members)
I can't recommend them highly enough. New players especially will find it a very supportive and friendly way to get started.
Hope to see you in BSC Public soon.

Then when you join BSC you will experience what a good community truly is. I would say we are an all round corp, we do just as much pvp as (if not more then)manufacturing/mining. Our current situation in F-E means you can do all the pvp you want and we have some very experienced pilots in our corp.

Please note we have been an industrial corp for more then two years i believe, we just like to have our fair share of pvp just remember all work, no play= a bored person all play, no work= a poor person

Hi, just wanted to ask a question here. Your corp looks like something me and a couple of my mates would be willing to be a part of. I am mostly a PvP player and my friends are industrial/mission runners. Do you have any insentives for your PvP players? I'm capable of providing my own ships and equipment, so this is more of a curiosity question. Heard some good things about you guys from my friends in [MLM], something about your battleships for insurance programs, etc...
Respectfully yours,

Hey Atropa,
Thanks for your interest, our corp is initially a Industrial ship building corp. We have a strong backbone in this area which give us the infrastructure to supply all our PVPers in BSC with Battleships or anyship wanted to a degree. We ask our members to supply the Platinum insurance amount and the ship is then corp insured.

No - Def a loon!
Well, I've been in the BSC / BSCA for 8 or 9 months now. I am about a year and a half old as a player and was very happy being in a noob corp before joining. Well I thought I was!!! I had no idea that there was so much more to EvE than Mission running and the ocasional Mining.
I spoke with 7 or 8 corps before I decided that the BSC was the one for me. They offered (and provided) me intensive training and the chance to be part of somthing great. We operate in both Empire and 0.0 space and reap the benifits of each. We build, mine, PvP and rat. In fact - if you can do it then the BSC have tried it! .... Right now we are growing again as a corp and are running training sessions for PvP and 0.0 survival. This is usually about 20 frigs flying and learning together. Is great fun and the best way to learn.
Anyway.. i am going on and on..
Basically, the BSC are a gret bunch of guys who will watch your back in a fight and will try their hardest to get on with everyone....
Love it here!

Hehe, I'd join if I wasn't already a member :)
Seriously, I was in the BSC in Earth & Beyond and moved over to Eve when EnB died. I'm not a hard-core player, since my RL wife and job prevent me from having the time to play that some others do, but this has never been a problem for BSC. I'm just as much a part of the gang as anyone else.
There is usually something going on, particularly now we are in an active alliance, but when I just want to quietly mine or rat for an hour rather than join fleet actions, I don't get hassled for this, except when Kal is in a ranting mood, but you kind of get used to that! ------------------------------------------

Ho-lo there.
I'm an old player but new - that is I played for two months back when Eve was released and have recently rejoined.
My old corp is, alas, long dead (DeathStar International) and atm I hang around with a few friends from Dark Age of Camelot.
However, they are small in number and whilst it's great to be in their corp and chat to them, I'm looking for something more interesting. I'm kinda low skilled and poor (1m points, few mil creds) but I'd like to have more people to chat to and to get to know.
Still learning the game (only been back a few days) but if you think you could use another player it'd be great. But what I'm scared of is joining a corp where I'm going to be targetted by their rival corps :-(

Hi Thundy, drop into BSC PUBLIC channel in game and talk to us there - we can answer any questions you have about the corp and our operating environment.
Look forward to seeing you there

I must admit I was very disapointed with my inital contact with this corp. After playing the game for a couple of weeks, firstly on the free trial and now fully signed up, I spoke to an officer about potenial recruitment and was branded a spy and my application rejected without finding out anything about me as a person or a player. Althought im starting to understand this is a possibility in the EVE universe, I thought it very harsh to speak to a new player in such a way just because of a single choice they made in terms of which corp they joined when they first started the game as a newbie. I am personally still trying to learn how to play the game let alone know what alliances are at war with who and all the politics that go with it, and I was hoping that a corp that advertises as a training house might want to help to teach me all that, I guess I was very very much mistaken.

All I can say is that I'm sorry for the way you were treated, and am sure that it was a misunderstanding. Please drop into BSC Public anytime to have another chat with our recruiters - I'm sure that we'll be able to iron this out.

Very sorry to hear that. The questions asked before potential recruits are accepted into the BSCA are very specific and thorough. I'm sure the BSCA Officers voice their doubts and decided jointly on what course of action to take regarding your application. Maturity is a requirement and in my (and not the corporation's) opinion, posting negative comments because you have been rejected is not in any way mature. There are always going to be unsatisfied people in life and EVE though.

I want to clarify things a little here. I've already apologised about the situation to Jahvie, but I'm afraid the situation is unavoidable.
I don't think I branded him a spy as such, but unfortunately the first corporation he selected was hostile to our alliance. He is not happy with the corp (which often happens with the first corp) and wants to leave.
However, he does not seem to realise that for us to start recruiting characters from corps hostile to our alliance, would be foolish in the extreme - and could lead to our corp being kicked from our alliance were we to take no sensible precautions of this sort.
I wish you good luck in your search for a new corporation, and am sure someone reading this thread will find a home for you, and give you the support and advice you need, so mistakes like this don't happen again.
Good luck, and fly safe.
