I am trying to find if this is considered an exploit, frowned upon or just part of the game.
Here's what I do, When I get an Extravaganza mission I complete appox 99% of it ( only leave the Named boss and his group in area 5 - I even go as far as destroying the war Station). I then wait for downtime. After downtime , all elements of the mission have respawned and I start again. In effect getting double bounties - I usually bring in over 70 Mil doing it this way.

I've come across this phenomenon too, though never deliberately taken advantage of it. I just see it as a failure to complete a mission in a given time resulting in the guys left alive calling in reinforcements. A bit like chaining BS spawns, chaining a mission. Seems a reasonable backstory-type explanation...though whether it's abuse of unintended game mechanics, I obviously can't say.
Personally, I wish mission spawns wouldn't reset every downtime, as it is an inconvenience to those who are doing missions as quickly as possible for standing not ISK.

Yes
I have been very annoyed at this feature when doing an extravaganza late at night and the node crashing when I was killing the last spawn and the whole thing respawning.
Was quite unhappy about it all.

Why not kill the end boss as well a but simply not tell your agent youre done? The Boss will respawn as well, just like everyone else ---------------------------

Because the mission is stamped in your log as completed and the warp gate doesn't appear.

Why on earth do it in the first place. Its not like you make any less from other missions. The extravaganza only takes longer time. _____________________________________________

I was 99% finished with Vengeance when there was an emergency reboot. As a matter of fact the Torps were in flight. After the reboot I was stuck doing the mission from the begining again. I've also noticed that you cannot warp out and back to the warp in point anymore. I'm sure somewhere along the line I missed the change. Any reason they can't maintain the level after reboot.

When you warp out and warp back you end up at the first warp gate and have to go through the empty areas to get back to where u were. - always been like this

Can you imagine how much resources would be required to keep the server state of every players missions prior to downtime?

My NPC RAT missions don't respawn on DT reboot, including extravaganza, stop the informat. Missions where a respawn does happen are drone infestations -- the one where you kill the 5 packs of 5 drones, then head in and kill the main drone.

Some do and some don't. It all depends on how the servers register the mission. In normal space missions, each spawn has its own BM and if you destroy the spawn, it is registered as destroyed in your journal (on the server) and will not respawn during DT. DS missions are registered on the server (and your journal) as just one BM and it is not marked as completed until you finish the objective (destroy boss/structure). The server does not remember which specific rats were killed or not in 'permanent' memory and so the rats respawn on reboots and during DT.
As for the 'exploit:' hell, why bother? I get this mission in either gurista (local rat) or angel form for about 40% of my mission offers (invariably back-to-back) and have to turn it down more often than not because I won't be able to finish it that night and by time I get back from work next day it's cutting it too close to 24 hour failure timer.

I dont see why it would be an exploit.
Its using the game mechanics to your best advantage.

Yeh it is no exploit.
Just like my level 4 rescue the damsel. I kill the prison, then warp out, and come back in covert ops, get the can and finish the mission. This way i dont have to hurt any of the baddies

Thats a cool idea with the Lvl 4 Damsel Mission, however, that mission has always dropped great loot for me - especially large proto guns and named cargo expanders.
In fact it is the only mission that I will bother collecting the loot on

Had this same experience with level 3 gurrista extravaganza. Nearly finished it before downtime, had just entered the last area with the boss man, and the clock struck twelve and I turned into a pumkin for an hour. Then I reloged onto eve and Yippee I get to do all the levels again! This time I made it so far as to engage the boss man when Yippee2 the server goes down for another reboot and wham! I'm a pumkin again... I was crossing my finger after loging in and trying for a third time, for the server not to die. Needless to say I finished it and was very happy with the bounties collected. However I was very sick of doing extravaganza missions for a while...
