Edited by: madaluap on 11/05/2005 15:15:25 Edited by: madaluap on 11/05/2005 15:14:57 ok i'm trying to replace raven with dominix.
first of all i dont hit **** with dual 250 mm guns on orbitting ships at 25 km.
than i have this uberbigproblem with some drones not mwding to target. i need those drones really bad to be where they must be.
its not like my drones are doing 300 m/s no there doing 20 m/s when not mwding.
its allready hard enough because you need to tank every npc because you cant kill 5 cruizers (raven) before they even get in range for some damage. so please upgrade the drones. thank you.
/edit: can you make npc cheat less. my 6X 125 mm gun i tried cant hit an npc at 6 km range doing 125m/s. yes these are the same guns that shoot inty doing 4.5 km/s at 3 km range.

npc cheat less?
How easy would they be to kill then? From the 250k rat that fires citadel torps to the frigs that hit me at 100km + yesterday. Keeps it interesting |

All drones do come equiped with mwd's but unfortunately their AI routines are stored on cheap mobile phones. So it might take a bit of fumbling to get them to realize they should be using it.
Translation: if they aren't mwd'ing, giving them a return command followed by a new attack command should help.

Another suggestion would be to stop using heavy drones - they take forever to get into position, whereas mediums are nice and quick :)
But yeah, if you tell them to return and attack again, they'll usually come to their senses and fly out at maximum velocity.

also, more drone skills, and possible modules to beef them up or better yet, repair them when in the drone bay.
help glue little drones back together without having to dock or lock on to your own drones and use ship repair modules to repair drones.
as for more skills, let's get some more skills to up their damage for heavies as well as medium and small drones, not just the heavies.
also, maybe yet another drone interfacing skill, possibly ôadvanced drone interfacingö which simply gives +1 drone per level of skill.
Yes that would add more drones to a swarm, especially for ships like the Dominix that have drone bonuses, but itÆs really in quantity that drones are effective to begin with. One drone is rarely of more concern than the ship that launched it.
And of course, something new to combat dronesà Tech 2 drones maybe, and hopefully with the advent of Carriers sometime in the future, the possible introduction of something in the vein of ôSuper Heavy Combat Dronesöà
500m3 each but are markedly more capable than heavy drones, and make them require like a million isk worth of minerals to build one.
IÆd just really like to see drones rise to a more prominent role in combat, not quite on par with a primary weapon, but something people would ôforget about lessö including myself.

With that kind of logic, they should be a hell of a lot easier to jam.

There should be a skill that increases speed of drones by 5%/level, a range skill that adds another 5km range /level, another skill that adds 5% damage / level and a skill that adds 5% drone HP/ level.
More drones wouldn't really help it, better drones would be nice. Also Drone AI just needs serious work. The main problem with them is that they are about as dumb as wet frenchbread.

All I want is for drones to not get hung up on each other. Waching a pair of drones dry-hump their way back to my ship at 80 m/s is very depressing. ------------------------------------------------------------------

also, a skill like:
Drone Shield Deflection
Class 6 skill (mainly to make it hard to train up, but drone lovers would invest)
adds 5% shield and armor resistance against the four damage types per level
this would only reduce damage from attackers by 25% at max level, but that would certainly be nice to have a bit more life span on the drones.

well if you look at the drone skills most of those bonuses are already there, the speed bonus is on the 'drones' skill, the range bonus is on the 'scout drones' skill, and the damage bonus is on the 'heavy drones' skill.
not sure they all work but they are listed on the skill the damage bonus i hear only aplys to heavy drones but the range bonus sems to work fine for all of them.

he said "a range skill that adds another 5km range /level", so basically allowing a skill that would add 5km max range per level in addition to what Scout Drone skill currently does.
as for the damage bonus skill, Heavy Drones skill adds to Heavy Drone skill, but for small(er) ships or small(er) drone bays, medium drones are the best fit, but their damage can be wanting sometimes.
so maybe a skill to up their damage some (5% per level like Heavy Drones seems reasonable) would be nice.

You can if you still have a target, send one of the 2 stuck to attack, and the other to return, and then make the other one return again as well. ~{When evil and strange get together anything is possible}~ A tool is only useless when you don't know how to use it. - ActiveX The grass is always greener on the other side. - JoCool |

I remember a drone workover being mentioned (I recall it being mentioned with a quote like "waves and waves of drones"), and with EW changes applied and missiles in the works maybe there will be some hot and steaming drone love next. :)

Sifting through 14 drones in the drone control window is a pain in the ass (although, in fairness, nowhere near as much of a pain in the ass as pre-exodus).
Usually i just end up shooting one of them. ------------------------------------------------------------------

You can give drones commands from their in space icon. ( a lot easier when you're trying to target a stuck drone. ) ~{When evil and strange get together anything is possible}~ A tool is only useless when you don't know how to use it. - ActiveX The grass is always greener on the other side. - JoCool |

Christ yes. As someone who loves their drones I spend most of my time swearing at them as they grind towards a target at 1m/s, all stuck to each other. The more drones, the more likely it is to happen as well. I don't really want to have to faff around individually ordering them to break up the drunken stumble either.
That has to be the number one most annoying bug for me - I'd cry tears of joy if drones were totally fixed next patch.
And yeah, more drone skills would be lovely, though not necessarily ones that further increase the number you can fly.
