Edited by: WarBunny on 13/05/2005 00:36:24 Edited by: WarBunny on 13/05/2005 00:36:15 Looking at the setups listed below i.e ( setups for soloing level 4 missions), why is it that it is advisable to place 2-3 shield harderners on a raven / tempest / phoon and only 1-2 cap rechargers while trying to sustain an xlarge shield booster? At present the xlarge CL-5 needs 80 cap a second to sustain, with 3 rechargers and 2 nosferatus i can only sustain 65 cap a second, surely removing the cap rechargers mean i wont be able to sustain an xlarge for very long. Doesnt this mean death? Or will the harderners reduce the damage so much it wont matter?
I am in a raven with current setup = 6 siege missile launchers , 2 heavy nosferatus, med = xlarge clarity ward, boost amp, 1 harderner, 3 cap rechargers, low = 4 power diag II, 1 ballistic
(any tweaks needed to that setup?)

i use 4 hardeners and zero cap recharge u donnot need them because u can kill most of npc before being short in capa. if not, train cap skills. if u cannot, do level4 with a mate :-)

try get hold of a tech2 XL cause it saves u a bit of cap , i use 3 hardners, 1 XL SB2, Boost amp and a tech2 cap recharge(only use this cause i'm too lazy to pick up my ab and i had it lying around)
u can;t keep it running forever but u won't need to, when shields r about 50% i top it up a bit, the hardners u use r very important as with the right ones u can pretty much own all ^_^

Edited by: WhiteTiger on 13/05/2005 01:58:14 Hardeners can reduce damage you take by 50% while the best cap chargers only increase you cap recharge 20% - and as result your ability to repair 20%. Don't try to run and XL-CL5 on autorepeat, just use a large tech2 if you have problems toggling your shield booster since it doesn't use cap as fast. Also an XL-CL5 uses 100 cap/sec while and XL-tech2 uses 80 cap/sec, both provide 120hp/sec of boost.

Get a shield boost amp too, no cap cost but it boosts your shield recharge rate by 30%. An x-l c5 repairs 480 iirc but uses less CPU than a tech 2. It makes ship fitting easier as you are usually tight on CPU in a raven.
Seriously, 3 hardners is better than one and a cap recharger/s.
Get a corp mate to smack you while you run both setups. See which lasts longest.

Although I have experimented with a shield amp, I find that using my mid-slots for cap rechargers is a better bet. I use no shield hardeners at all, and only a large tech II shield repairer. This means my 'tank' is barely worth the name, but I hold my own because I use speed to outrun or outrange the opposition. Local Hull overdrives and a tech II 100mn AB are your friends...

Dude, a couple of hardeners specific to the rats you are fighting effectively double the amount of shield you have/double the amount repaired.

i only run 3 pdu2 and 1 cap recharger 2 for deadspace (sensor booster for normal space as they are **** easy) and i never run into cap problems. If you stick 5 PDU 2 and a cap recharger 2 on, especially with 2 hvy nos, u would be close to running it nearly non stop
oh and always fit atleast 2 hardners. 1 aint worth jack, 4 is a little overkill. i find 3 is the best

Currently I run:
Highslots: 5 Siege 1 Defender (If they fire missles) 1 Siege if they use Lasers Two Heavy Nos MidSlots: 2 X Thermal Shield Hardners 2 X EM Shield Hardners 1 X LRG Shield Amplifier Tech II LRG Shield Boost Or XL C5L Low Slots: PDUs
I haven't had any issues. The defenders allow me to use the shield booster sparingly, and the NOS is locked on a drone to power my cap while I focus on other targets. Shield hardners of course are switched out based on the type of damage I'm receiving.
I certainly am not implying this as the best setup so if you have any ideas let me know, but I haven't had any issues yet.
