on the skill tree, it will be handy if..
well for example: your battleship is on lvl2. you right click on battleship skill and select from the list wich will have the following options.
train skill: battleship to lvl 3. train skill: battleship to lvl 4. train skill: battleship to lvl 5. this may have to be scrapped because of ebay.
you can select your charachter to train a skill to a certain level, i really see nothing wrong with that.
this will get rude of waking up at night just to change a skill, just because you decided to specialise on something new.
slecting several skills to train is a bad idea. CCP please consider this one.

POST 55
21/05/05 the new suggestion.
well first of all up your (___(___) EBAY, we can't have this jsut because of your ignorance.. excuse me.
NEW IDEA:
same as before, BUT BUT BUT BUT BUT,,,,,, ONLY when your are logged on.
don't you just hate it when you hear skill Training complete when in the middle of doing something (PVe,PVP)
well the same skill should train what ever yo queued up as long as you haven't been docked for more than 20 minutes(average time to equip a BS).
and it should happen in space at any time, well as long as your not AFK for more than 20 minutes, Quote: well this is average toilet breack
.
therefore you should be able to prepare your training in any sort of way possible. up to 5 skills maybe.
it will be funny if people will flame for this 2ND thought but i would love to hear them.
this may not be polular with @CCP not because of EBAY but because of the programming, and the work that needs to be put into it.

I do think it should train the next level for you automatially. Would help dramatically with unsheduled downtimes. ![Crying or Very sad](/images/icon_cry.gif)

well CCP shouldn't obligate us to train long skills jsut because of the 1 hour downtime anyways, this option should ve been availible ages ago, people have been asking for skills queuing a lot, well devs said it ain't going to happen.
but this way at least it may stand a chance.

thats mean you agree with me, because thats what i am proposing, you even select wich level you want the skill to train to. jees make it even cost isk if you have to, i dont mind training a learning skill called me love reading long time so you can just do that for peanuts sake.

I disagree. Eve is the only MMO to not need you to be there constantly as you gain XP (as it isnt earned through killing stuff) and therefore is already giving so much to us.
That you can't train them to level 5 from level 1 and just leave it is a good idea because at least it makes you plan ahead. For example, I am training a 4 day skill while I work and whatnot, I return, stick on a couple of hours skill, go out and leave it back on the 4 day skill. If you don't want periods of time where you aren't training anything then plan carefully the times, don't expect the game to do it for you. It isn't that hard to come back in a few days time, play while the skill finishes it's last hour or so and then set it as soon as its done.
Thats my opinion anyway.

Makes sense, if you tell it to study a particular field why should it stop because you've gained a level. I can understand the reasons why we can't queue up different skills, but single skill fields would make sense to continue onward. Got my *signed* with comment!

Malfus, how about those particular skill levels that require 7 hours or 11 hours? how do you manage those? I've avoided doing those skills because I know I won't be able to get on and change them because of work/Real life... I know I can train longer skills but I wanna train the shorter skills eventually..

Well, with the example of 11 hour skill (which, interestingly I'm doing right now). I'll train a small skill during the evening if I'm playing (or at least briefly log on to change to it) then set the 11 hour skill for when I go to bed. That then shaves about 8 hours off the skill, and when I go to work I change to a much longer skill that Im just chipping away at the time on. Then, when I get in, I set it to train the last three hours on the 11 hour skill. I guess i just manage my time on it. But I do understand what you're saying, I just think it'll sway closer to rather than it being a convenience, it just makes the game give more without any extra work.
I imagine my opinion could change when I'm learning level 5s, but I don't really see why as the same principle of just working out when I'll be able to swap skills and whatnot will still apply.

I'm with Malfus on this one - use the varying lengths of training times to work the skills around RL. I am forever switching between skills, running shorter ones then switching back to longer ones, so that I'm skilling 24/7 without interfering needlessly with RL. Sure - you can't always plan ahead for life's little 'episodes' but most of the time you can make it work for you, not against you ![Very Happy](/images/icon_biggrin.gif)
Be thankful that you can simply stop training a skill and retain progress to date - just imagine what it would have been like if, when skill training was stopped, you lost all progress ![Shocked](/images/icon_eek.gif)

Like skill queuing, it has 1 major flaw - Ebay.
I can see the korean/chinese crowd setting up accounts, training base skills and then when they get to the rank 6-8 they'd just cancel the account and train Battleship I-V, HAC I-V while not paying for it.
Come 8-10 months down the road they could sell that on Ebay and make big profit.
Besides, do we really need to dumb down EVERYTHING in this game? Can't people schedule skilltraining around their daily lives? 50k people have been doing just fine for the last 2 years.

well, bit dissapointed by the people who went on nononono, but this make perfect sens to rank 1.2.3up to 4 skills. were 7 hours could be difference between training the skill now or next week.
im thankfull for the way things are at the moment, but as i said it shouldn't be unpolular with most of eve players as it will only be for the same skill.
train the skil to this certain level should ve been there from the start.
its just like uplying for a course from to start to do it to a certain level at once.
i disagree with queuing different skils at the same time because of EBAY
but this won't make it easier more for people that play the game than those who don't.
anyways those who desagree you have made your point of why not. so unless you gonna post SIGNED don't bother posting your negative comments, as everything is pretty straight forward and simple.

+maybe it should just be limited to a certain lvl like lvl 4 or lvl 3. because lvl 5 especially in rank 4 or more skills, will hardlly need the player to be on on a regular basis.
CCP should be happy with 2-3 logons per week. because so many players can only afford that, the time i use to play eve 23h/7d. was last summer, when i came out the house i fell sick for a week in bed, oh and playing more of eve.![Confused](/images/icon_confused.gif)

easy m8 don't get your nickers n a twist, how can this let you go inactive fors months anyways. there just few skills that take more than 1 month to reaach lvl 5 , depends if you trained good learning or not. and usually people don't even train those skills to lvl 5, for exampls bs lvl 5 rank 8 takes 45/55 days on average, and how many people train that to lvl5.![Razz](/images/icon_razz.gif)

I like the idea of it being limited to lvl 4 or even 3, because i can see how it could get out of hand if you could do all the way to lvl 5 without logging on once. But i really doubt this idea will seriously get anywhere with CCP

Then why are you posting on a forum anyhow? No one was flaming you, so therefore their posts were just as good as the ones that supports this idea of yours. Saying things like that is to actively work against the foundation of what a forum is.
I think everyone has ideas like this one, and the one about being able to change skill training via a web interface so that you can do it wherever you are. I used to think so as well, but then I realized something : Switching and planning skill training is a VERY large part of the game. This feature would be the final nail in the coffin for an awesome concept that makes EVE different (and so much better) than other games of its general genre (MMO). As it is now, you can technically be just as experienced as someone who plays every second of his life, although his practical experience will outclass you. Being able to make skill training semi-automatic (maxing out a single skill automatically) would pretty much be like having a lazy job such as changing spools in a cable factory (switching skills in EVE) but say "no, someone else can do it for me" (the auto-maxer-outer-o-matic feature) and get paid for doing nothing (gaining SP without even having to think about it).
I know you proposed a slower training process for this feature and it is a sign that you've thought this through, but no, that is a stupid solution to a bad situation. It is like someone proposed before : being able to train two skills at once, although have a penalty that makes training slower. Sounds like fair balancing, but the idea is too stupid to begin with anyhow. Of course, Im not calling you stupid, Im just saying your ideas are.

Well, there's 2 sides of it, whilst I agree it would be a nice feature, I think it would get abused by people farming accounts, which is a damn shame.
