Could EW Blackbird take any kind of role in fleet battles? What would be the basic fleet combat setup and what would be right and most efficient way to use it.

couple of sensor boosters lots of racial jammers, match bs types to your jammers and ew away. Trying to hide as far away in your blob as possible is a good idea as your offically the no.1 target of the attacking fleet. So something like
3 heavy launchers 1 smartbomb 1/2 sensor booster 4/5 racial jammers 2 cprs / 1 1600mm plate if you want to live abit longer
dont worry about sheild boosters/armour reps cause if a bs targets you your gonna instafry

4 small smarties
2/3 sensor boosters t2 rest racial jammers
cap relay small armor rep
leave ur targ grid on and use it to judge using the smarties to pop incoming enemy missiles so u can jam from afar. (\_/) (O.o) (> <) This is Bunny. Copy Bunny into your signature to help him on his way to world domination.

Definatly fit a 1600mm plate in low, it more than doubles your armor an is easily the difference between living and dying a lot of times. ___________________________ Chicks dig Brutor's |

To answer your question in a word: no.
The BB has a range bonus, not a jamming bonus like on the Scorpion. So it is far less effective at jamming. It's already very tricky in a Scorp...
It would be very effective at jamming cruisers though, but it's not a valid point since cruisers are rare (very rare) and there's little point jamming them anyways.
A BB goes down in 2 or 3 guns volleys, flies like a brick (slower than some battleships), has poor weaponry and can't play the role it had before the EW nerf.
The next patch is supposed to increase the cruisers HPs and maneuverability, but since the BB was utterly nerfed prior to the EW changes, it should get its former mass/agility to be effective again, like an EW frigate.

For defence I would take 1 or maybe 2 rocket launchers with defenders and then 2 or 3x 150mm or 125mm T2. You will die very fast if you get targeted by the big ships anyway so keep aligned and if they come up in frigs, try to spot them coming in, lock and put your guns on them. If they are not too many you will scare off 2 tacklers quite fast. However it depends on how good you vs them are.
1x SB 5x racials 1x med armorrep 1x somethingelse

Not a good setup imo because it's not that common right now with missile boats in fleetbattles. If it is they arn't going for the target that's sit so far away. Dump the smarties and put something on that can do damage.

Given my love of odd ball ships would the same setup apply to the Celestis if used in a fleet. Save for the fact youd be using multiple Sensor dampners ? I wanan use this thing in pvp if possible and wondered how it would survive ?

celestis with good RSD and skills can be pretty evil...
with maxed skills and RSD II you'd make a typical bs (80k lock range) have a lock range of - someone had worked out the maths not so long ago - something like 3-4km
4x RSD dont even take *that* much cap, so you could use 2x 1600mm plates in low... and those are getting their stats heavily boosted in next patch, so you could well end up flying a damping cruiser with the same armor hp as a bs -------------

Hmm my skills are all 4 or 5 but ive been strruggling to fit 1600 plates to the likes of Arbitrators and Celestis. Though ive been loking at Steel plates..is it easier if i cough up isk for better ones ?
