Well...
Last night I got bored of mining and said screw this. So I went to a nearby system and engaged a hauler. It was only a hauler I killed but it felt so good killing it.
Trying to run in his pod I webed him. Asked for money but he did not want to pay. So boom...
So I spent the rest of the night hunting but had no luck...
Basically, I don't have any drive to do agent missions or anything of the sort anymore and i'm looking to find my way into 00.
Killing is fun :D

Can I get some advice on where to hunt for other people? I only have 1.5m sp and i'm in a maller. I've been floating around .2-.4 space because I think i'll get eaten in 00 at the moment.
But you cannot do much even in these sectors as sentrys will nail my ass. So I'm basically belt hunting.
Anything else I can do?

no problem.
For now you probably want to stick to belt hunting. I think it's the most fun personally, although not the most profitable. To go into 0.0 you need either an interceptor or a bs/hac with good skills. Anything else is gonna get owned. _______________________________________________________

Man, i like people do such posts :)
I killed a hauler...
From one side its a good thing you got yr first kill, from other side there nothing to moan about. So guess what, its a kill, but its not pvp when you kill hauler that cant do anything to you. Try engaging cruiser or frig and see if you are really can do something. -=-

i got my first kill the other day too, it wasnt the fairest of fights, i was in a raven, the other guy was in an ares interceptor, but it was the most fun i've had in ages, he was circling me, going much faster than my torps, i just kept firing them, and had about 60 torps following him around my ship, he was slowly eating away at my cap, but all of a sudden, he slowed down a bit, and all 60 torpedos hit him at the same time, it was great ^^ the guy was a really good sport about it too, i asked him if he wanted his stuff back, but he said not to worry, it was so fun, combat like that is what makes eve fun :)

Belts and complexes would probably be your best hunting grounds in a cruiser.

However if huntin in cruiser and not much SP.....mate, fit one WCS if you lack isk on new one in case of you warping into belt and some BS sits there.
As for kills, i dont mind people starting their pvp carier from haulers :) Just the point of "i killed hauler, i r t3h ub3r" is pretty useless.
p.s. and nothing wrong with podding. you have implants and pvp? prepare to loose em if you cant react fast enough to warp away in pod to random direction. -=-

I was thinking more about podding non-combat pilots such as haulers. Pirates and people who are willingly fighting you is fair game to pod, I think, but doing it to a hauler that didn't even intend to hurt you is just mean.

Which is why you should run heavy NOS/Neut on a Raven
And nothing wrong with killing haulers, they often drop the best stuff. Furthermore just because a target can't fight back in any meaningful way doesn't make it not PVP.
Thirdly, where did he say 'omfg I killed a hauler I'm uber 1337?' all he was saying is he got his first kill and is now going to get into PVP. _________________

I have been getting very similar feelings to you infused in that I just want to PvP more as it is great fun.
I'll admit however that I'm not comfortable with pirating so I either fight pirates in low sec Empire (so far a pointless exercise and probably the most boring thing I've ever done in Eve) or get into 0.0 where everyone is a target (well everyone bar defenseless ships for me).
You are right that in 0.0 it's nasty however with the skill points you have, if you can find a few freinds, jump in frigates and just head out there. Even if you can't actually succesfully take on anyone you will have a riot getting hunted down and if your lucky will get a kill or 2. Setup so 1 person warp scrambles, 1 webs and anyone else can just be sheer firepower (well all the sheer firepower a frig can dish out). You might take a few pastings but you won't have lost much so just go get another frigate afterwards.
I say this as I want you to stop being a pirate. I see it as the lazy mans way into PvP as you can just attack anyone. Have a bit of class about it and your kills will be even more satisfying.
I don't have much PvP experience but this story should give a good example of what I mean.
A mate and I went out into 0.0 in cruisers the other night both with blaster setups. I don't want to tell the whole story as it would take a while but at one point we caught an Apoc (that was hunting us with another Apoc - the other one had fell behind for some reason) and even though we never killed it they had to run from us (had them webbed and scrambled but they made it to the gate in time) and it was very satisfying seeing a superior ship piloted by a more experience player having to run away.
However be prepared to get ganked by a silly amount of players. We ended up with about 8 ships on our tail, a mix of frigs, interceptors and battleships. Overkill on their part but god did we have a lot of fun escaping from their clutches.
But good luck however you decide to PvP.

Mind ill add my 2 iskies to frig combat.
Frig gang takes from its members best commabt work they can. Even stadart gang with BS dont requre such teamwork as frig gang. You should be like one big ship. ALso note that most of 0.0 are controlled so once your in youll be mostly hunted by forces that outnumber/outgun you and most likely will chase you to dead end systemm since they know their region much more better then you.
So if you goin 0.0 with frig gang make sure you flyed at least a few days together, so you dont get all yr gang warp to random spots once you encounter group of HACs or BS. -=-

I'm not going to try to force my playstyle on anybody of course, but i don't see how piracy is the lazy mans way to PvP. You have afew more targets, especially in low sec empire, so you don't have to spend ages trying to find people so you can actually do some pvping. And that's about the only advantage. You tend to lose alot more sec status than an anti pirate would, you tend to have WAY more friends than enemies etc, and as soon as you stop being able to enter 1.0 and .9's replacing ships gets way harder and way more expensive. _______________________________________________________

Edited by: Jamius on 16/05/2005 17:46:38 Necrologic,
I'll be more specific. When I said it's the easy way into PvP I didn't mean to encapsulate the whole gamestyle and consequencies of being a pirate.
All I meant is if someone wants to get into PvP and kill someone it is very easy to just jump in a ship, fly to low sec empire and attack an easy target in a belt or otherwise.
Going out into 0.0 to fight other PvPers is much harder to do with any degree of success.
I admit I ain't had a kill yet but that's because every fight I've been in has been with a more experienced player in a better ship than me.
But dagnammit it's fun and I don't make any enemies that have no respect for me.

BTW, don't need a ton of SP to PVP. I've got a younger char with just 2.1mil sp with a focus on gunnery and he does just fine in his little gankageddon

Congrats on the first kill, hope you have many more to come.
Here is my advice for finding targets, this is how I started killing along with many of my mates.
Systems with .4 or lower that have spawn points, outposts and such. Get your self some good warp in points, and you will get many kills in such places.
Learn to use the scanner, it is your most important tool. When you have become good at it, you will already be way ahead of the curve most seem to ignore learning how to use it.
Dont bother ransoming, EVE is not really programed to give you enough time for that. Unless you are in a big gank fleet that has webs/scramblers and lots of fire power to drop em fast if they log.
You may want to join a pvp corp, its not about the skill points its about your skill and willingness to learn. Those that refuse you because of your skill points are not where you want to be anyways.
Good luck.

what else can i say Haulers = most money making in pvp except covert ops droping covert op II or faction bs loot

Well I was looking for something a little better than a hauler. But he was the first person I came across. I only have 1.5m sp so there isn't too much I can take on :P
See my kils on www.eve-kills.com Same thing also mostly haulers. They are good exercising. Like stretching when you wake up.

Congratz. The first kill is something you will fondly remember. Bet it was fun as hell, with the adrenaline going up and all... welcome to eve :)
I started the very same way, back in the times when a blackbird could fit torpedos and cruise missiles. My advice would be to specialize yourself on a certain category of ships & weapons, aswell as Electronic Warfare. You need to be able to scramble, target jam and webify properly, that's your key to killing your locked target.
Good luck, and keep it friendly on local with your victims, even if they spew a lot of dirt at you. If there's something the community hates, that would be a smack-talking pirate.

My 1st kill was a hauler too... i was in a caracal & the dude was afk :-p lol... although the guy in the hauler belonged to HVI when they were at war with KORS...
sinse then I've gotten another 10 pvp kills from assualt frigs to a vagabound & i got 1 pod kill, with the guys' corpse still in my freezer
