One day a new player is gunna push a new button at the exact moment the DT warning comes up and crap themselves.

Hehe, exactly. I remember planning, as a noob, to go attack the Guristas HQ. Mebbe get my face put on one of those billboards. I had my autopilot set to deeeep into 0.0 space. Luckily, I was browsing the recruitment channel at the time, and ended up in my first corp while on-route to gank-city. When I told them what I was doing, they said something along the lines of "FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, TURN YOUR AUTOPILOT OFF!!!"
I also remember seeing a Heron, and getting jealous, thinking to myself "some day, I'll have one of those... some day..."

I personally loved helping newbs but, as I've already experienced, more often then not they tend to be alt beggers who are scamming you (*cough cough* Sobhi, or whatever his name was...). ---------------- Haha, stupid monkey! Now I'VE got the Oscar! Enjoy your worthless gun! |

Why set the POS guns to open up on anybody. Set them more liberally and you won't shoot new guys out of the sky. Shooting anyone is piracy be it a POS or not. You have the choice on how you set the guns, why complain when the guns open fire according to how you set them.

We need a new online manual! It can be kept updated when it's a webpage, too..... I miss the old one from beta.

What is an alt anyway?
Is it your first chacter you created? well i've deleted that one.
Is it your oldest chacter? well i use my latest chacter more than the others at the moment for fuling my pos.
Is it my fighter? well he has the most skill points, but he's not good at mining or refining.
Is it my miner? well I could mine all day but that would be pretty boaring..
Alts allow you to do differnt things in the game. I can also switch between alts fairly quickly. If my one guy is in deep 0.0 I don't have to drive hours back to empire to run a mission or give a friend some equipment.
Yes alts can be aboused but over all they are a time saver.

Best reply to this 'thread' yet.
Just because a small minority abuse the system is no reason to punish those not abusing it. If the local police were to set up a road block and as you and everyone else went through, got a ticket for speeding, because a few other drivers had been breaking the rules, wouldn't you get peeved and move to another town ASAP?
Lets not peeve the 'good' players, m'kay!

Edited by: Posmart on 20/05/2005 20:15:54 Originally by: Anarkia Evangel -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Maybe the Answer to Alts is to show how old the account is, not giving out the Name of the main, but it shows how long the Alt has been around and how long the account has be active?
This mean people can still use alts for spying and wot not and still give a chance new players to be treated as such, just a though. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is a helafine idea.
I agree, I just can't see any downside to this idea
(1) genuine noobs (strictly, new accounts) are made obvious (2) if you want to pretend to be a noob, it will cost you real money - make you think twice about that long-term corp theft scam plan (3) disposable scouting alts are still allowed.
oh and (4) it can't be that hard to code the account start date into the info
I don't know about you but I actually feel a bit like I'm cheating when I log into the alt! (it soon passes). - (but that's just becuase they are pure zero skill alts, it wouldn't be cheating if I'd actually put time into them).
and what Rod said about channels, I never used a chat channel anywhere or played a MMoG before, so I had no concept of opening a new one or finding one for recruitment.

Edited by: Rider Zane on 21/05/2005 00:19:42 Thats really cool, nice to know there are still nice people out there I prolly would have smacktalked on local and told him tough luck As for alts, they have more good uses than bad i.e hauling alt, science lab alts. i dont think there should be any changes to alts it should be up to people to decide if they are spys or genuine new players.
