Figured this is the best fit to put this, also going to update the wiki.
I recently got a response from GM Banton on the topic so i figured id post it here for posterity.

If you have a wreck targeted and you order your salvage drones to salvage then they will only salvage that wreck. In order to salvage all available wrecks, please right click the "Drones in active space" header in drone management and then choose salvage. That is the fastest way to get all salvage drones to automate the entire field.
Currently we also have a known issue regarding salvage drones not auto salvaging corp owned wrecks and this is being looked into at the moment. (...)

Thank you for this update. I was wondering about it today on my first attempt to use those drones. I thought at the first site they worked quite well, automatically salvaging, but after that I had to tell them about every wreck though I brought them close below 5k using the tractor beam. |

I went ahead and updated the Salvaging (Guide) page to include this information as well as links to information on the skills and drones since they aren't yet in the item database. |

14 days later, still no fix for corp salvage.
Tears will be shed and pants will need to be changed all round. |

This did not seem to work when the highlighted target was a wreck, but if the target is not a wreck they seem to be able to do this happily.
from my very not exhaustive testing.
Its not possible to please all the people all the time, but it sure as hell is possible to Displease all the people, most of the time.

Just dont have anything targeted when you give the command and they will do it by themselves. Using them since they appeared, quite satisfied.
P.S. Also do yourself a favor and fit DNC on your salvage boats, they are slow. |
