First of all I would like to say I play Eve primarily and suck at FPSs.
Now i vehemently hate the micro transaction scheme. However I think Dust implements it alot better. IE You can still remain competitive with the passive skill system. As opposed to grinding for in the other games. All these other games really force you to buy their special currency, or hamper what you can do.
Thank you CCP for making the game competitive and F2P. Please don't get greedy. Vote for me in the next CSM Elections. I will fight for the interest of all Hi-sec dwellers. No longer will you be cast aside and disparaged.-á |

From what I've gathered, the faction guns you may buy with aurum have the same stats as other guns you can get for free. However the faction guns has much lower skill requirements. Since SP is also gathered actively by playing, doesn't that make the DUST model just as "pay2not grind" as the other games you mentioned? |

DUST FTW! No competition. We will get mechs eventually it sounds like, and having seen PS2 and played DUST 514 I know that DUST just seems better to me. |

I bought a PS3 over Xmas for myself as I needed to a Blu-Ray player and to try DUST. I just can't get motivated to play it after a few days of trying it (even with the god awful controller.) After plugging in a keyboard and mouse, it still didn't improve the limited gameplay.
I downloaded Planetstrike 2 last night and tried it briefly this morning and was blown away how vast and alive the game felt. I really did feel like someone out of Starship Troopers, a fresh grunt in a huge ongoing war. DUST is just an 8v8 irrelevent scrap. Sure it's beta and when it does plugs into the Eve universe for real it should improve, but right now, it just feels empty.
I do hope it improves, but I feel it's got a tough fight to drag away the console players from Call of Duty/Medal of Honour games and the PC gamers away from Planetstrike 2. |

Comparing planetside2 and dust is a bit unfair atm as these days even a budget gaming pc has way more power then a ps3. For dust to compete properly we need the ps4 and there's no getting around that, to me the ps3 release that's out now is just a head start on the concept to get balancing issues out of the way and to allow CCP to fine tune the engine.
Dust's map sizes are HUGE however unfortunately we are restricted to a very small part of most these maps atm and I feel a lot of this is due to lack of memory on the ps3. Also most of the graphical issues i have with the game seem to be the result of not enough rendering headroom on the ps3, a better GPU + more RAM + dx11 are what the game needs and what pc players already have access to and console gamers should see whenever the ps4 launches.

1 more reason to make Dust availble on the PC |

I'm talking about the monitization schemes the other games have. The other games are punishing unless you buy into the scheme. While Dust doesn't punish you for not paying. And after playing the other games its like watching a commercial, IE BUY OUR CRAP BUY OUR CRAP! Dust only does it in a place that actually makes sense....the market. NDA mean's I wouldn't say much, but here is what I know, I hate BS microtransactions in F2P games that make you feel like you HAVE to pay to get anywhere, Dust 514 doesn't feel that way at all. |

I didn't like FPS games, I didn't like F2P models, I've tried PS2 and spent much more money than expected, now I believe Dust can be a hit too.
PS2 and Defiance (release in April) will help me to wait for PC version of Dust... |

It can't not happen:
- playstation 4 is about to be announced. - CCP has a long history of taking care of his game, polishing it and keeping it up to date instead of releasing sequels. - Dust may outlive the playstation 3 given enough players.
Once they release Dust in PC too, the next step would obviously be to merge the two games together, add open worlds and name a city after me.

Actually it can not happen
- CCP has already said they intend to migrate the client to PS4 once its released - because of the above it doesnt need a sequal - CCP have planned for Dust out living the PS3 pretty much from the beginning
As has been said many many many times already, putting Dust on PC is simply not needed |

There's one other thing too.
One of the main perceived problems with PS2 right now is hacking/cheating. Since a PC is an open platform it's near impossible to root out all hacks/cheaters.
Given that Dust has much worse death penalties than PS2 cheating would be that much worse and if there was rampant cheating I suspect most people would stop playing. |

This is what the marketing teams at sony and ccp would like to beleive. Open your eyes an realize that this is nothing more than a gimick to get pubbie eve players willing to fork over hundreds if not thousands of real live dollars to purchase a fresh ps3 system.

Do you really think people are really going to fork over thousands of dollars for ps3s for a FPS shooter? I really don't think so.

Would comment but have nothing to say that wouldn't sound stupid, so I'll make a post that sounds like I actually have something to say. I'll carefully disguise it though as not being a post, by saying that if I actually posted, it would be NDA breaching. |
