Whoever ranted about how Empire POSs were unprofitable needs to get a wakeup call. Here's my setup, with the minerals cut out so nobody copies it .
Moon miner mines Mineral X. Mineral X is combined with Mineral Y, which is bought from Yulai, to make Simple Reaction A.
Simple Reaction B is bought from Yulai, and combined to make Advanced Reaction C. Leftover is 100 of Simple Reaction A, as 200 of A is produced each cycle and only 100 is used.
Profit per day, including fuel and materials in cost: 14 million.
Yes, thats right, 14 million. -- The best description of alliances, ever:

after having said that you will see all people rushing on pos, doing the same settup than you, selling same thing and so killing your prices and putting you out :)
(just kidding ;)

I purposely hid the minerals . There's about 6-7 different ways to do this setup, all which will give high profit, using nearly any advanced material.
In fact, if people do copy my setup, that means there will be quite a bigger demand for what I'm selling -- The best description of alliances, ever:

I'm doing similar actually. Buying whatever's "going" at a good price, and reacting it up to complexes. And sometimes actually making the T2 comps too.
It does turn a profit. But I'm looking forward to the day where I can moon mine again, and not be making a net loss.

I'm getting 47mil per week profit in a 0.3 POS just with a simple reaction ----------------------------------------------- I love work. Work fascinates me. I could sit and look at it for hours. |

All that is nice but i greatly ask people to try to cover all the materials types and not to runs on the sames one or we will have big problems soons :) ---- Sauvez les castors, mangez la foret! |

I'm making a relativly large amount off my POS from mining -> to complex reaction of all materials.
130-180mil per week
Also seting up new POS's to follow suit at higher profit margin to go with these.
People think its unprofitable is wrong, they just got to understand not to drop the prices on the materials made and keep a steady price much like minerals. You are truely putting lots of time/money into such a setup and you want to make some money, and not leave it all in the hands of T2 builders/ship builders now. We POS owners control the T2 ship market so to say now.
But as we all know running a POS is definatly not that easy, moving materials, reactions, fuels around to get everything going then gettnig it to market without being ganked. Truely you can do many more things to make similar cash but its for the people that like to manage something they can call a home. --------------------------------------------------- Ummm ya.... |

What is starting to be noticeable is lack of agent rewards (or decrease).
Those were causing the POS to be profitable only on making materials used for fermionic condensates. Now it will have to change, however in the meantime it will hurt the profits of component makers who lost the cheap supply of metal compound materials. (and ferrogel too)
It will even out eventually - but it will get rough before then :)
cheers

Just one thing to say.........Speed up the small POS to keep them in line with supplying for large pos's. At the minute a small pos cant supply enough materials to make them feasible. Yes they cost 1/4 the amount of a large pos to run, but they dont seem to make 1/4 the profit.
It takes 5 months roughly to fill one silo with raw materials, thats 600 units of a standard 100 batch cycle every day. This is madness I say.....MAAAADNEEESSS. Ahem.
Any way....If they were sped up to even half the speed of a large pos that would allow small pos owners to at least make some profit from their moons.

The Most important think to making a profit in pos's is to fully reserch your market and stay flexible, or at least thats what i've found in the small time i've been running my medium one.

Well, at this time I make a pretty decent profit just by buying components that I melt and sell the reactions at the market in Yulai. Its a really sick market right now ...
