It's a little bit boring but that's what you get for playing 2yrs straight.
"PVP" simply isn't the answer if you've already done lots of that, though.

Like anything - sometimes yes sometimes no.
In any game i play i like there to be some sort of reason for what i'm doing.¿
For me, the excessive amounts of isk, the gatecamping gankteams, and other assorted things make it boring. I love a good fight that is challenging, or other challenges of market/production etc. There are lots of things which are still good in the game, and right now i'm more annoyed that i've not got enough time to play as much as i would want to :( -----

Like Rod says, take a break. I'm just back from my third break and (like Vel) regret that I don't have the time to play much.
If you have the time, why not run a corp? Have you run a POS? Maybe the very idea of doing these things bores you. If so, then a break is the only thing. Get some sun.

Typical replies to the "Is game getting boaring?" question. After two years yes it is getting boaring. PvP is not the "Spice up the game solution" you might think it is.
Join another corp? After two years of building a corp? What hand over all my hard work to some one else? Not a chance.
Take a break? Yeah I have done that after one year play time.
Try somthing else? Been there done that...

Reduce your bankroll to 1,000,000 isk. Buy a frigate, outfit it for pvp. Pick a low security empire system. Hunt some players for mods. Refine what you get. Buy a BPC, repeat, upgrade from there on up to a BS. Then move a PoS into the system and claim it. Maybe solo that would be fun for you?

Well dono if you were being sarcastic or not. But that's what I do. Sort of like the "Solo Pirate Challenge" I guess. Now that we have small PoS's out, it makes it a bit more fun. So you can run to your small PoS after a good ganking/fight. But its Something to do and profit from and still be solo/cool. I'm doing it over again but having lots of trouble doing it from a Slasher, instead of a rifter :)

Its not just you, I can't find any good reson to login atm. Its the old case of be there done that to death.
Id like to see more npc in 0.0 with very very big bountys so it brings more players out. BIG npc gate camps, convoys so on. Also they need to have more odd stuff going on in deep space, kinda like npc battles , npc retaking stations and maybe even setting up stations. Lets face it there is alot of space out there but nothing going on.

Exactly right, anything (yes, even PvP) gets boring after 2 years straight. Hell even 6 months straight gets boring.
I personally am pretty bored with the game, but PvP still gets me going. The worst part of eve is the waiting....2 hours looking for a fight only to have an even sized force run. That part is a game-killer to me.

Edited by: Aodha Khan on 25/05/2005 13:06:54 I do tend to hit that bored point every so often. Although I do play too much.
Change something about how you play the game. Think differently. I went from the Minmatar v Amarr wars to being a pirate. Everything seems different and refreshing again. I'm now looking into getting my faction standings with the other npc pirate factions as another new goal.
So in war, the way is to avoid what is strong and to strike at what is weak. |

Currently, I am in the process of building one each of every Battleship. I am trained in Gallente and Minmatar, while my partner flies Caldari and Amarr. Between us we will eventually be competent to fly anything. This is one goal.
Secondary goal is to train in the various fighting skills with a view toward PvP (as soon as our ********* drop). My partner has many implants and likely his will take longer to drop then mine. I do not use implants.
Other than these goals, we mine, and mine and mine. We have found a very quiet system (I mean there is no one there!) which is rich in ore of all kinds. So we mine and build ships and when the BSs are complete we will sell minerals for further income.
We are not bored; there is never enough time in a day to do all the things we want to do. My partners wife bouoght him a laptop. Now he sits by her side while she watches TV, and we mine. ...and mine ...and mine.

You just need to vary what you do. I mine, build, trade, mission run, 0.0 PvP, test out new setups, I could go on.
Anything gets boring if you do it all the time. Even mining is fun, especially when done with others.
If you have an alt, even better. Mine with one and trade with the other. This is one of my most profitable passtimes too while a certain market is good.
Also I find one of the most enjoyable things is getting a totally new ship. If you specialize in certain ships you might be a better PvPer (though I would think this is debatable as people begin to learn what you will be flying) but your missing out on a lot the game has to offer. I plan to be able to use all BS's in PvP and for missions before I go anywhere near a HAC ( Got a Raven and Apoc - megathron next). I'm getting an AF soon but this is just cos I'm still too scared to take a BS into PvP and an AF seems like a good choice to get into it more while remaining reasonably agile (I hate the idea of the big lumbering BS just being wiped out at the 1st gank it meets with no chance of escape and no way to fight back effectively as the odds are overwhelming).
So vary things a bit. I've had the odd moment of feeling a bit lost in Eve but a little effort goes a long way.
And if your a pirate then it will do you good to carebear a bit. See what it's like on the other side so to speak. Or would that scare a pirate when they realise what they have been doing to people all this time (PS - just a friendly dig guys - don't smack me to death now).
Maybe I should take my own advice and try pirating

Edited by: Countess Amarisa on 25/05/2005 16:27:09 Edited by: Countess Amarisa on 25/05/2005 16:24:36 Well , i am a pure trader girl. And after 2 years, i near never engage in pvp. But now i have POS to supply and produce and i remember the thrill the game give me.
Yesterday, i dock out of a station of the Blood Raiders when a nasty bad guy lock my Impel, scramble me and beging to use is gun... Hearth beat hard, you can feel your blood pass in your neck and you pray you have enough armor/warp core stabilizer to survive/warp away..... what a feeling! No game give me this type of feeling because dead in eve is costly in time/isk.
Finaly, i warp out of Onolaya safely and be back in carebear empire in one piece. But this remember me the fun, the thrill of EVE.
Anything to do is fun, but risk, is the awesome reward.

although the 'try something new' comment has been posted a few times, in the cases of the eve-veterans many have done it all already.
Speaking personally between more than 1 character I have: mined, npc'd, small amounts of alliance blobbing, been a builder, did some agent running, complexes, been a trader...and of course 'legit' PvP as well as small time piracy.
In my case as well as many veterans, it just gets boring after a while no matter what you do plain and simple. Happens after a while no matter what you do. Only real solution I see is taking a break or trying a new game.

I think this probably sums up the best advice in this thread. There's so much potential in this game to set your own goals, whatever they might be. That's CCP's gift to you, a galaxy of vast possibility.
(Although a few in-depth, in-your-face, kick-ass storylines couldn't hurt. 'OMG save Oursulaert from the Serpentis invasion! The stations are being surrounded by hundreds of frigates, and they're dropping tech 2 bpcs!')

I guess it's just you. Sometimes you get bored at what you. To make eve more exciting, you have to do something new, and there are alot of possibilities, here is a good example of how I made my life in eve go from boring to very interesting. Just an example :)

I find the game goes in bursts. I like getting to do something new or better. So I get board while a long ship skill is training. But once complete it loads of fun for awhile.
Eve will entertain me for a month or two, then I'll take a month off. (only training skills).
To much of anything is bad. You wouldn't expect watching the same Movie over and over to keep you entertained no matter how much you loved the movie.

EVE is one of those games where it totally depends on who you're playing with. I've quit EVE twice before because I'd join a corp, and nobody would be online, or nobody would be doing anything interesting.
But when I play with my RL buddies, I have more of a blast then I could ever imagined possible.
So yes, it's really a matter of finding the right people to play with. Once you've got that, you could play EVE forever and never get bored.

I think tbh, it all comes down to how much you let the game absorb you. When the game started - everyone who played it for more than a few months were absorbed by it totally. There were new challenges everyday, history was being written and the new world order involving corporations and legends were being made, alliances were being formed by those with vision and people were picking sides.
Now two years on - things have slowed down and the grind for those of us who have been there since the beginning has started to kick in. We have new players coming in, old players rejoining all whom remember of who are being stunned by the player based story behind EVE. For those of us such as myself, Josh and the others who have been here since day one - the grind has kicked in a bit, certainly on my part, the days of running or having a major influence in the day to day running of our corporations/allainces have faded as our real lifes have started taking control again.
However there is something about EVE that means you just can't put it down. Your best bet is to take a break, cancel your account for a while - go out, get drunk, get a gf, (or at least start paying attention to her again). One night when your broke, or she's not around, you'll sit back with nothing to do and say "Hey, I wonder whats going on in EVE tonight" and you'll return fresh and re discover the game again.

I take a month or so break every 9-12 months, I find that essential, I'm not sure how much that is to do with Eve though and how much it is to do with the stresses of being CEO and fleet commander.
I also try and break things up and not do the same thing in game all the time, although that can be difficult given my role. I try to do more mining and npc hunting when I get a little bored of PvP. If that doesn't work though I'll happily sit in a station for a week just chatting to people.
I recently tried agent running on an alt to give me a new perspective on the game, as expected it was as dull as dishwater though! Well after a couple of weeks it was but I wasn't half fired up for getting back into PvP full time after that!
To be honest though, I can happily log into Eve and do nothing in game for hours, I am blessed with so many good people in my corp and in friendly corps that I can spend whole days just chatting to them and really not feel like I've wasted any time.
I still fimly believe that all MMOG's are about the people you hang out with as much as being about the game itself. I can't see myself getting chronically bored with Eve this side of 2010 assuming my mated keep playing but I'll be having another month long break in 6-8 months.
I guess my serious advice would be take a month off, try some other games then go back to the bits you enjoy most because even after a month off the seem great again! If that doesn't work and you've tried everything in Eve go back to the beginning again and try something you haven't tried in ages.
Good luck and I hope you find your Eve mojo again!

I find short term goals are more effective than long term goals. We've done pretty much everything there is to do in the game, and achieved pretty much everything possible for our corp size.
However, since we've taken the merc route this gives us fresh goals constantly. It also gives us the time to engage in other parts of the game when we want, ie run agents inbetween wars etc.
The great thing is, when a war starts to get boring or you win you move on to the next. We don't have to find new projects, they find us. It's not a matter of logging on and erm what shall we do today, we already have our goals set.
Running missions, playing in the EVE casino, mining, all the stuff that isn't thrilling or exciting is made fun by the fact all your m8ors are hanging on ts having a laugh, and for anyone that's ever experienced KIA TS you'll know that's what we do.
The key to enjoying EVE and keeping it fun is to be dynamic. With an independant corp that does what it wants you get that flexability.
People leave KIA every now and again, but they always come back. It's very rare that people actually find the grass is greener, and if they stay away it's usually because of timezone issues or whatever.
Find a dynamic career where you can get the opportunity to focus on many different parts of eve. Join a corp that allows you to do this, this is the key. ---

EVE is about other people, simple as that. Join a corp that caters to your interests and follow your dream.
As for myself, I enjoy enslaving an inferior race, forcing my will upon others, and killing those who rise up against me; hence my involvement in PIE.

If it wasn't for the forums I would have quit Eve ages ago.
Hell, I caught myself thinking about going mining recently ... things must be bad*

Average players that like a game stay around for 2 a 3 years, then it gets boring. This is basically the standard behaviour since the times people played m.u.d.s on the internet around 1992 for example. People come and go, not because the game gets boring, but they just did all the game could and then slowly they go complain about small details and get irritated and bored.
Best advice is look for a new game.

Especially when you logout in Warp with 1/4 Structure left to avoid losing your ship Ehhh?
You did have enough Class to say Bye IMP GTG
Next time try staying in the fight to the finish.. It might be more exciting for you.

Losing your ship/pod isn't very exciting. Well about as "exciting" as watching your car get stolen and wrecked. I'm sure it seems cheesy to some PvPers but that's the system CCP has, have to use scramble to really make a kill. I would warp out cause I would expect anyone else to do the same if they could.

"PVP" simply isn't the answer if you've already done lots of that, though.
My sentiments exactly. Been there, done that -- can't think of anything else I really want to do.

#1 I was Teasing ya I could care less about the Tactic
#2 You Got my Wolf that day but your RAVEN was in structure.
#3 There were IMP Forces at both gates I should know because I was the Fleet Commander and I went into warp (With my Second Character) with you when you ran for The FD-MLJ gate, Typed those Exact Words and dissapeared from Local
Now if you hit a SafeSpot Kudos to you that was a Good Tactic but nevertheless you Logged off and never arrived at the FD-MLJ Gate.
This is 100% Correct in exactly what happened Sir.
It wasnt meant as a SLAM but rather to hopefully remind you that people of your Caliber leaving the Game is a Sad loss for the Entire Eve Uninverse.. People like you add Spice to the game.

Amazingly boring. I decided life was too short (still check the forums every now and then just in case something EXCITING has happened; no luck so far). Cancelled both my accounts a while back.

I warped to ss in the direction of gates (as far as I remember, then logged after I got there), cuz local was getting bit 2 hot, even tho I had instas all over the place so I could probobly just go to empire, but why risk....
