I give gifts each year to thank customers for their patronage, since its their choice to work with my company. Personally these gifts are a weak way to thank its subscriber base.

The gifts are ultimately useless but amusing - like so many xmas gifts are in RL. Was planning on remapping away from cha/will mapping I setup in September.....Yeah, no remap given yet. Would never have mapped this way if I knew I wasnt going to get another remap gift like last year =( I also dont give a rats behind about these "collectables", even the scanning ship tbh. Ill give it all back for a remap And yes, I understand the humor behind all these items, but I dont care...I just wanted a remap =(

That said, these fluff items are kind of like a holiday gift exchange where in addition to buying a $20 gift for someone at the office you toss a bunch of paper-clips, staples, and post-it notes into the gift box as well. I'm happy enough with the ship and the implant, we don't need the filler to sort through. If CCP wants to create new holiday collectible items they could paint a red Rudolf nose on a special edition shuttle or something. Something we can look at that isn't just an icon in our hanger. Not a criticism, just a suggestion.

Now you have to endure bad attribute setups.

And if people are silly enough to start flying the 4 ships with custom paint jobs around their value should go up rather quickly after the first few thousand are blown up. *Although collectors should keep in mind we have no indication these paint jobs will only be available once. When you start making assumptions on what you will be given as a free gift and planning your actions accordingly you are setting yourself up for disappointment. Ask anyone who "expects" a Christmas bonus when their employer has had a particularly rough year financially. To carve a successful niche for yourself in EVE you need to be able to out sell, out produce, out fight,-á out run, or out wit your competitors. If you can do none of the above, your only option is to complain on the forums that somehow you are at a disadvantage using the exact same tool set-áas the rest of the player base.

Same year, same complaints about free stuff. Some of enjoy the game for what it is. Anything extra is a nice perk, not to be taken too seriously and certainly not seriously enough to whine and complain about. Just glad to be having fun in this little sandbox.
