Hi, New to EVE and looking to pair up with my friend who has also just started, we want to buy BPOs, research them and then from there manufacture and make copies.
However, for the life of me I cannot find anywhere whre you can find a list of what NPCs sell what T1 BPOs? We wanted to do the simple task of making our own ammo as a starter, but I can't find where I can buy an original BPO for them!
I am sur I read that most T1 BPOs are sold by vendors and others and higher tech ones need to be researched, etc.
Can anyone help me out here, I've spent a lot of time trying to find somewhere with no luck? |

if it's on the market then it is a 0ME / 0PE original if it is a racially made thing then it will be in the region where that race comes from .... i.e. projectile weapons from minmatar space armar reppers form amarr space ..

Well as stated you can buy them directly from the market at 0ME / 0PE.
If you're looking for a NPC retailer (who could be cheaper or more expenive) you can go to the Corp information for each corp (Sucks i Know) and go to "Market Activity" It will show what they seed and how much for in all of their stations.
For example ORE seed all the Mining Barge BPO's but only have stations in Null Sec, yet you can buy it cheaper in certain regions than if you went to an ORE station and got it from an NPC and then try and get back to High Sec.
All T2 ones do need to be Invented from a T1 BPC (There are TECH 2 BPO's out there but they are very rare and highly unlikely to be for sale, if they happen to be they'll be way up in the billions)
Also the link Rattus provided allows you to search for the BPO and tells you what NPC corp sells them
Celina Aremac wrote:Thanks, may seem like a stupid question, but how do you tell the difference between a BPO and a copy?
When you check the attributes it will state "BLUEPRINT ORIGINAL" or "BLUEPRINT COPY". Note that Copies cannot be sold on the market, only via contracts / direct trades etc. |

No worries :P
ME stands for Material efficiency, PE stands for Product efficiency.
The higher the "ME" of a BPO / BPC the less materials will be required when its built.
The higher the "PE" of a BPO / BPC the faster it will be built.
Note that it does take a long time to research them up depending on the level you want.
The link Rattus provided also shows you how long it will take + what it will save you :)
Edit: I forgot to mention that only BPO's with ME / PE 0 can be sold on the market, so even if a BPO has a ME of 16 it cant be sold on market. |

Copies can be bought from contracts, they cost pennies compared to some bpos, and most are pre-researched so you don't need the weeks and months required for larger ships to train up time and material efficiency. |

Another quick way is: the BPOs are deep blue, the BPCs are washed, brighter light blue. Plus if you right click and Show Info the BPCs say "Blue Print Copy" and have "Runs left". Auditing | Collateral holding and insurance | Consulting | PLEX for Good Charity

PE or PL stands for the Production Level of the Blueprint, and as you increase PL, you reduce the amount of waste time, so that the item can be produced faster. PL isn't too important. I try to consistently call it PL to distinguish it from the Production Efficiency skill, which can also abbreviated PE.
(Note that you want to train PE skill to 5 before you produce anything significant.)
ME or ML stands for the Materials Level of the Blueprint, and as you increase the ML, you reduce the amount of waste materials, i.e. minerals. As ML increases, you move asymptotically towards an ideal or perfected production process where there is 0.00% wasted minerals so that your profit margin is maximalized.
In adition to mineral waste from ML, you also get additional minerals wasted if your PE skill is lower than 5, and you absolutely do not want that.
So, when you buy an PL0 ML0 BPO, you want to research on it to improve its ML at least a little, but don't fret too much about PL.

Yes, this is a fairly recent change CCP has made. It used to be that BPO and BPC were almost impossible to distinguish visually, and that made a lot of industrialists very unhappy, and CCP kept talking about how it wasn't possible for them to fix this by giving each type of Blueprint its own icon. But then they finally hardened the **** and did it anyway.

You can find out what blueprints are available for sale (and for how much) at: http://eve-marketdata.com/ For a sample: Cormorant Blueprint. Notice that the red letters "NPC" indicate the seller is an NPC.
Blueprints that have been researched, as well as copies, have to be sold via contracts. |

You can also see that it's an NPC seller, because the time Remaining column says more than 90 days. PCs, Player Characters, cannot put up Sell Orders (nor Buy Orders) with a time of more than 90 days (although the timer resets if you change the order's price), while NPCs, Non-Player Characters, routinely puts up Sell Orders with 364 day limits (maybe Buy Orders too - I don't know personally) whenever CCP decides to "seed" items or when such items are automatically "re-seeded".
Also note that you can buy everything in Jita. But usually at a markup. Well, actually, always at a markup, but sometimes the markup is so tiny that you shouldn't worry about it.

In game NPC seeded BPOs will be marked with 365 or 364 days duration..... Players can not make sell orders lasting that long

Just bought a retriever BPC with 150 ME, 10 runs, 7.999m ISK. Thought I was getting some sort of deal. When I started the manu process and looked at the required materials, it looked like this :
Raw Materials
Item / Waste
Isogen............105,536 32.3% Megacyte................104 25.0% Mexallon...........62,200 31.5% Nocxium.............1,915 17.8% Pyerite............105,315 48.4% Tritanium.......683,224 24.9% Zydrine...................489 17.3%
Extra Material
Isogen...............26,869 Megacyte................177 Mexallon...........39,907 Nocxium.............1,827 Pyerite............455,721 Tritanium....1,187,716 Zydrine...................446
This makes the mineral cost of the ship just over $30m ISK - hardly enough to justify manufacturing it, even with decent skills.
What was my mistake here? I didn't look at the materials requirements of the BPC in the contract, just the ME level. But, is it the case that ME doesn't matter as much as the skill of the person who made the BPC? In other words, did the seller more or less deliberately rip me off by offering a high ME BPC for this item, when their research skill was basically crap?
As I suggested, I probably made a noob mistake here, and would appreciate any guidance or help. |

Mining barges had a change during summer which increased their costs a LOT and people made tons of them before the change, i bet there is still old barges on market. Same thing with cruisers and now battlecruisers.
As for the npc sold BPO locations, each faction sells their own stuff.
- Amarr
Amarr ships Lasers Capacitor Related Armor Tanking
- Caldari
Caldari ships Missiles Shield tanking
- Gallente
Gallente Ships Drones Hybrid weapons
- Minmatar

Etc etc, the list isnt comprehensive. Most tradehubs have all BPOs for sale from nice nonprofit capsuleers for small markup. |

first off, what's your "Production Efficiency" skill level?
Secondly, there was a change recently (approximately 1 year) to the barges that upped the manu costs pretty significantly (all those "Extra Materials")... a ton of people built a huge supply before patch day, knowing that they could never lose money on the plan, since at worst they're looking at ~5m/ship (or whatever build cost was back then) on ships where the NEW requirement pushes them to well over 20m build cost... One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia Malcanis for CSM8 |

PE is 3. With this skill there are actually some items I can make a decent profit making, especially if it has a lot of trit, where my net refine yield is close to 97%. Thanks for the info, that clarifies matters.

This is part of your problem too ... most manufacturers you're competing against will have PE 5.
Keep in mind though -- minerals you mine aren't free ... throws profits off when you start down that path. Its good advice.
When I started I was playing with someone else who was also new, and that person wanted to turn ore into finished products, rather than just sell the ore. I whipped out my spreadsheet (which now has 5 pages) and plugged formulae cross matrixed with a semi-daily update of ore and mineral prices. This calculates the ore and mineral value of a finished product before I make anything. If what I have named the "demand factor" - the highest price volume buy order at the nearby trade hub - is not at equal to the mineral value, there's no point in making the product. As well one needs to look at the daily volume in the region, the amount of sell orders in comparison - if the sell order volumes are far in excess of the daily demand *and* there is almost no difference between the raw ore or mineral value of the product and the product sales price, you are losing money and time trying to make the product. And all of this must of course add in the per unit cost of the BPC or BPO.
I was never able to convince the other person I was playing with that we were losing about 20 to 30%% of our revenue by making products instead of just selling the ore - so I quit that corpo and started my own.
