Edited by: Lachenlaud on 29/05/2005 19:14:07 Greetings from Golden Oak Industries!
CURRENT STATUS: BUGFIX/MAJOR UPDATE 5/28/05 v11.52
I've been developing an Eve Skills Chart in Excel for well over a year now. The original thread which can be found here became a bit crowded with replies and cross-replies, was beginning to become cumbersome. Having asked for help to clean it up a bit from the mods, they suggested that I create a new thread and said they'd lock the old one.
I would like to thank all the people who have supported me thus far with this project, it has been a long adventure, that will hopefully continue as long as Eve-Online.
This spreadsheet will allow you to calculate how long individual skills will take you to train, set a goal for all your skills, and give you a total time until you reach your goal. The sheet takes into account all of your info once you enter your base attributes from your character, and the current amount of skill points you have invested in each skill. For most users of Excel, it even has an auto-update feature that will pull in your information from the XML provided by CCP on your on-line character sheet. (I only guarantee that the XML update fucntion will work with Excel versions 10.2614.2625 and above.)
Some of the things you will find on the spreadsheet are * A skills tracking spreadsheet and monitor * A skills description spreadsheet with skill requirements * A skillset Graph giving you the big picture including Distribution, Attributes, etc. * A skillset summary with non-graphical information on the skillset graph * An ore Yields calculator by Histracko * An ice yields calculator by Histracko * A basic production calculator for mining by Histracko * A ships information page (that will show you what ships you can use based on skills) * A basic implants guide * A skill guide by Hardin * Very basic instructions on how to use the sheet * My contact informaion * An XML Data Interface page
If you would like to try it out, go here http://www.goi-eve.com/emd/EMDv1152.zip.
May 28, 2005 - Ok I've added the missing skills and made a few other tweaks to the sheet. Sorry for the misfire on shipping v11.xx without them. Should all work fine now (Also created new thread.)
May 26, 2005 - Firstly - Many apologies to all who have been waiting so long for this update. This release has some major patches to it. Ships tab has been updated once again. A new 'Production' tab is also included. The skills should all be available now as well. MOST IMPORTANTLY!! The AUTOUPDATE FEATURE IS WORKING!! PLEASE TEST IT! I have once again included the AutoUpdate.doc file to the Zip to give you an idea as to how to set this up. (Note: Minor bug fix to change Chief Tactical Officer to Starbase Tactical Office v11.01)
Extra Special Thanks go to Histracko for all his hard work in helping with the sheet - were it not for his extra-efforts to keep me motivated and all the time he's spent on updating things to help me out it wouldn't be here today.
(Keep the ideas/bug reports coming, and if I'm missing a skill, PLEASE send me a screen cap of it via e-mail at [email protected])
Please note, you must use a web-browser OUTSIDE of eve to download this file and you must have a recent version of Excel and understand a spreadsheet to effectively use this tool. Evemail me with comments/suggestions on it or use the email address located at the bottom of the sheet to contact me outside of Eve. (The structure of the filename is now EMD <for Eve Master Datasheet> + v <for Version> followed by a number #### <for v Number xx.xx>, thus EMDv1100 would be Eve Master Datasheet version 11.00. Major updates change the primary first digit, while minor updates change the sub number .xx)
THANK YOU FOR THE RE-STICKY WRANGLER!!!
Regards,

Looks good except, unfortunately, I can't get the auto-update working. When I hit Ctrl+G I get a Runtime 1004 error. ---------------------------

As stated - "I only guarantee that the XML update fucntion will work with Excel versions 10.2614.2625 and above."
This is a known issue with older versions of Excel. Lach's been trying to fix it forever.
What version of excel are you running Vilserx? Go into Excel - Click on the Help Menu, then About Microsoft Excel and you will see the version in the window.

Edited by: Lachenlaud on 28/05/2005 16:27:04 5/28/05 v11.52 * Fixed skillcheck on Cerberus and Basilisk (Cerberus was flagged as logistics ship, Basilisk was not) :-P (Thanks for the bug report Kalest)
* Added a user-defined field in the EVE-XML Data sheet for people with multiple characters called 'Character 1,2 or 3'. (Example: If you have more than one character the first characteryou created is 1, the second is 2, and the third is 3. Thus if you have three characters created in the order of Tom, Richard and Harry, Tom would =1 Richard would =2 and Harry would =3.
* In order for the spreadsheet to autoupdate the correct character, you have to tell it WHICH of the three you are trying to autoupdate FOR in addition to the usual URL character #.)
* Special thanks to Thunaz for bringing his problem to my attention and giving me the incentive and reason to fix it. NOTE: YOU MUST LOG IN TO EVE-ONLINE.COM in Internet Explorer before using the autoupdate feature and when you do so tell it to SAVE your password or the function may not work.

Thanks Reva - I'll add the two missing skills asap.
The mods are going to take care of it soonÖ I think.
Keep the bug reports coming :)

This spreadsheet is amazing! I have been using an older version and just got the newest version.
For anyone having problems with the auto-update, you have to use IE. I couldn't get it to work with firefox).

Hmm - can't seem to find info on these - care to point me in the right direction Fjellu?

The Connections skills are in game, through agent offers for 15k LP's and 10 mil isk. Not DED Connections or Bounty Hunting though (unfortunately)

Very good work. Could you change some small things plz? Like remove "Repair drones" and use the skill order in the groups like they are in eve. ---------------------------------------------

Repair drones will eventually be a live skill. Not sure when - but they have published details on it previously.
The skills are (except for the categories) in alphabetical order, and will remain that way. I originally had them in 'in-game' order and it was just a bit of a pain to find skills on the sheet for some people (you wouldn't believe the evemail/email I got about it.)

I had the same problem but sorted it kind of.
Firstly logged in and ticked the box to saved my password in IE6.
Then went to debug the code, which you do like this.
In excel (office xp) pressed alt-f8 to bring up the macro list. Then pressed 'step into', which brought up the microsoft visual basic window. Then pressed f8 which steps through the code one line at a time. That made it work perfectly.

Do you have multiple characters on your account? What version of the sheet are you using?

I've got the same set up, using version 11.52
I find that the first time I use Ctrl-G the spreadsheet clears any skill data on the sheet. However doing Ctrl-G a second time manages to update the spreadsheet.
Doens't bother me too much... a small price to pay for such a good and useful tool!

I am using Excel 2003 (11.6355) on XP SP2.
I just get a bunch of divide-by-zero errors. I tried stepping through the code like one poster mentioned above, but that made no difference whatsoever. It doesn't look like it's getting any info at all succesfully, not even the character name. I've followed all the instructions from scrath several times, and started several new sheets from scratch. I am logged in to my character screen and I have checked the "log in automatically" box.
Here is a screenie of the first sheet:
