I cant really deside, last thing i got hooked on was Farscape, idk really what is was... but at the end of all episodes i always had the urge for more. It¦s been some time now since those 2 last finishing epp¦s where released, and i thought i dident need more.... but i do...
So, what do u watch?? and why?? what is it about the series u watch that always leave u wanting more?
Oh btw, an EVE series/movie that some ppl on these boards have suggested would make me pee my pants of joy

Babylon 5 if u truely plan to watch everything to do with it. Don't drop in and out as u can miss a entire angle of the story if u do.

Edited by: 2ippy on 29/05/2005 21:01:38 babylon 5 deep space nine firefly earth above and beyond -- was good but wouldn't mind a full set if they about in UK Anime series - they norm 13-26 episodes - normally good storylines.
TBH the new BSG is quite good but they just used the old story line and ploped a 2nd exact one over the top, bar a few diff things, it's good, but the orig is better.

'V'crazy here.
Best scfi show ever, and there making a remake of the original.
Original plan was for a 'second' generation series, but nbc wanted the original remade.
Despite the age, the original mini series, and the final battle, still look fresh today, and ouse class. ------------------------

Andromeda is The Absolute Trash. Note the use of capitals. Don't touch it even with a barge pole the size of a small planet. Firefly is awesome, and so is Babylon 5 and Deep Space 9 (season 4 onwards at least).

Buck rogers was good advice. I flippin licked that as a kid.
I likes the origional battlestar galactica too. second one is good. To much ***** in it though.
TNG is always a good fallback. Hardly ever was there a bad episode (odly though, the origional star trek movies were better)
I never did like deep space nine. babylon 5 had some good bits but i ducked in and out as they said, so maybe thats why i thought it was pretty pap.
I liked the original black and white lost in space, too.

Bah Deep Space 9 = best Star Trek series EVAR! If you are interested in sci fi anime might check these out:
Evangelion Blue Gender Gundam (0079 aka Movie Trilogy, 0080, 0083, Char's Counter Attack (One of my favs), Zeta, etc.. Basicly any of the 'UC' timeline shows they are great) Ghost in the Shell Ghost in the Shell: Innocence (2nd movie) Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex (TV) Cowboy Bebop Appleseed (well its a CG movie) Casshern (Japanese Sci Fi Movie live action)
Bout all I can think of off the top of my head good stuff though if your into anime or japanese films. I have to 2nd Firefly its just awesome I can't wait for the movie!

Babylon 5(without Crusade series) & ST: Generations were the best series imho.. Stargate was also nice.. but at a certan point the action lacks ( I think everyone agrees with that...for example the best Babylon5 season was the 4-th)... so if u have the time/money , watch them all is not a waste of time ... PS... Andromeda`s script was kinda crap, the end too.. still had some nice moments in there...

Edited by: Leitari on 31/05/2005 00:31:23 k, alot of people are saying how great stargate is and everything. Those shows annoy the hell out of me but yet I cant resist the urge to watch it. Im currently on season 3 and the bugs in these episodes are more then I could ever imagined. Its like a cheesy soap opera. IM TOTALLY HOOKED. I curse after each episode at the faults that were made in the shows. Im ill. I just have to know what happens next.

I never watched all of the Babylon5 stuff but I picked up the Crusade box set and I really liked it (though I seem like the only one hehe). Shame they never finished it ala Firefly (atleast firefly is getting a movie).

Firefly is the best sci-fi series I've ever seen. Battlestar Galactica is good but not quite as well done. I never really got into Star Trek, Farscape, etc - those series looked too 'glamorized' for me. I like the real gritty, down to earth, realistic (in terms of characters, situation possibility etc) stuff.
As far as anime, Ghost in the Shell, Ghost in the Shell:SAC, and Evangelion are the only three sci-fi anime I've seen so far that I have enjoyed watching.

Babylon 5 does lick ass. But you have to watch them all, not just a few then stop. Surprising amount of good actors early in their career are in this.
Also Cowboy Bebop. I challenge anyone, after watching this series, not to log into eve and at least for a few days try to become a bounty hunter. ------------

other than babylon 5 i really cant get into any sci-fi floating around atm, they simply arent dark enough for me, i guess i want a saving private ryan set in space, we need death and plenty of it. Even the new battlestar went all ghey, tall blond cylon agent is shagtastic tho.

hit up public access on sat nights, on sat nights they show red dwarf.
and it looks like they are going to add some actors from farscape to sg1, it could be awsome like adding two aswome things like melon shnaps to parot bay rum to make a body shot, or it could be nasty like a new jersey turnpike.

Crusade wasn't quite as pants as a lot of people make out, but true it wasn't as good as B5 - the story just wasn't as strong and maybe that is why people are turned off by it. Although tbh, the first season of B5 wasn't super hot, it was really just there to set everything else up, and I got a similar feel from Crusade. I really do wish they at least finished the first season of Crusade off before making a decision about shelving.
In other sad B5 news, The Memory of Shadows (another feature film) was scrapped pretty much as it went into fliming earlier this year :(

Edited by: Kyogen Steiner on 31/05/2005 14:54:05 Well after seeing quite a few series and films, these are my views.
B5. As everyone said, its not really a series that you just drop in and see, you have to see it from the beggining to end (cept for crusade witch sucked majordonkey...) You have to keep in mind that the series is relatively old and might not have the best CGI effects, however, its a VERY good series, very good story and even got a few excelent movies like "in the begining"
The major + with the series is that the writer actually wrote the entire series before they shot it, and not even the actors had any idea what meaning some things they said would have in future episodes. Its an allround good series.
SG1: allthough i liked it, its somehow lacking in the action and realism department, how ppl talk are one. I liked Atlantis better to be honest. Its a good series, but it could have been made far better. cool now that maybe claudia black and ben browder is joining the cast.
Battlestar Galactica: the new one. Very cool, interesting and has some excelent effects, good story, cant wait for season 2.
Farscape: loved this series, also one you really cant drop in on, but the acting is very good, not the steriotypical worlds, and a very good story. The chemistry between the main actors is amazing to say the least. canceled before last season, but compensated with the "peacekeeper wars" miniseries due to heavy fan pressure to tie things up. And what and ending. recommended.
Startrek enterprise: currently watching this one, so far so good.
Startrek TNG: Classic, its really good, loved the "first contact" movie. is a bit pending between really good and crappy episodes.
Edit: Red dwarf, funny ****, really funny ****.
these are the ones i could think of on the top of my head. ------------------------------------------------

Seriously though: Firefly and the new Battlestar Galactica are great 'on the edge' shows. ST:TNG,SG,B5 are great long term watches... the fire burns longer but not as fiercely.

Edited by: Jin Entres on 01/06/2005 23:47:21 I am saddened to see that my nomination of "The Outer Limits" has had no support yet. The beauty of the series lies within it's philosophical and psychological depth. All the episodes have different actors and plotlines, and always have a "theme" or a thought behind it. The quality of the acting varies from one episode to another, and it's not that good all the time. However, there is no other series that can compete with the basis of The Outer Limits. And that's what I love it for, the thoughts it sparks in me.
The opening (kinda cheesy) [voice] "There is nothing wrong with your television. Do not attempt to adjust the picture. We are now controlling the transmission. We control the horizontal and the vertical. We can deluge you with a thousand channels or expand one single image to crystal clarity and beyond. We can shape your vision to anything our imagination can conceive. For the next hour we will control all that you see and hear. You are about to experience the awe and mystery which reaches from the deepest inner mind to the outer limits."
Now, go watch an episode.

I'd like to agree, as I watch the show with some regularity, but the problem is that the themes are too often cliche. Its respectable, but not great.

I know what you mean. I can not be quite so critisizing about the series since it has tremendous nostalgy value to me (it aired in the mid 90's here, I just recently bought DVD's as they were released). And the quality definitely depends on the individual episodes. Some are naive, and cliche, I do admit.
I give this series so much credit because it's the only one to bring up such topics, that are to me more interesting than pretty much anything else.
P.S. You just gotta love unhappy endings :)

On Outer Limits: They're standalone episodes (that reminds me, Ghost in teh Shell Standalone Complex rocks too, the Laughing Man episodes at the least are excellent) and that means they tend to be very hit and miss. I've just watched back through the first season (of new series) and thought that some episodes are truly superb, some are utter drivel and most are okay. It's definitely worth a watch but doesn't have long term investment for me, because of it's lack of an ongoing plotline.

StarGate: SG-1 for sure ! StarGate: Atlantis isn't that bad either, but it doesn't have Richard Dean ;-) Star Trek: TNG (ofcoz. OFCOZ. I mean, Picard, who doesn't wub him ?) Star Trek: Voyager (Janeway might be a woman captian, but Se7en roxx) FarScape: totally not that "serious" but very very funny stuff. Especially that one episode in season 3 which is half cartoon.
On a more recent note (not SciFi really): Sin City (the movie) roxx arse. When I came out of the theatre last night, I wasn't sure if i had just seen a animated action comic or a real movie. simply brilliant (and horribly rude too ) --
