I really enjoy the new tracking function in dscan. But it could be improved further if there were a second scan button with separate settings for distance and angle. That way you could alternated between 5-¦/360-¦ or long/short scans without having to manoeuvre that small lever or typing in new distances on the keyboard.

1. Range should have option to switch between AU or km 2. Lists of predefined values for each type of units (like 1, 3, 5, 9, 14 for AU and their equivalents in km) in combobox with editbox for manual entry 3. Angle control maybe could better work with buttons for each value instead of that tiny slider
And now something to make bittervets scream :) 4. Maybe we could have some visual indicator of scan cone for angles below 90 deg like a very bleak [enter color here]-ish circle around ship indicating how vast cone is or sth. I know you can see it on map under F11 but it takes screen space which is already scarce. And sometimes you need additional scan to see if target is at one or adjacent cluster. I may get shot down for this but how about an autoscan function which gives you readouts at a preset interval? If you think it's making things too easy, it could be slower than doing it manually (like every 5 seconds), but it would certainly make your index finger hurt a little bit less from spamming the "scan" button.
Doubt this will be high on CCP's to-do list, but I'm guessing it wouldn't be too hard to implement either. |

Autoscan would be too overpowered in wormholes. |

Yeah, I'm not for autoscan but I am definitely for making it more... convienient for the lack of better word.
Autoscan would be totally great for newbies and noobs because they wouldn't have to remember to click that damn button but on the other hand I don't think whether any of these groups knows how to use d-scan properly anyway so possibly quite little or even no gain from having autoscan feature.
D-scan is what keeps you alive in low/null/wh and it helps to weed out the weakest from the herd (is that a right expression here? sometimes my English gets too sophisticated ) and we should keep up that "feature" of it.
But any kind of usability improvements would be great. I am not my skills but... http://eveboard.com/pilot/Schmata_Bastanold |

ok, so we'll automate turrets then as well? i mean you have to hit that F1 button quite a lot, don't you. How about automating clicking the overview, we do that a **** ton every few seconds. Amat victoria curam. Excellence in everything. |

judging from your post i assume you have no idea what CTS is. I, for one, can't find the hotkey to press to do a scan

If you get CTS from clicking a button a few times in a game then you have bigger problems and probably should stop playing said game instead of using it as an excuse to have it done for you. Amat victoria curam. Excellence in everything. |
