Although there are plenty of threads about people multiboxing for the purpose of mining or mission running, does anyone actually PVP this way? Are you an Industrialist who uses large amounts of Construction Components? Looking for ways to reduce costs? Then I can help you! https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=174135 |

Yeah I've heard about it, watch a couple video's on youtube. People do this, but the only time I ever looked into this, the guy multiboxing PvP did it with Logistics. If I remembered the videos I'd link them... But he did alright, in the vids anyway. He stated you would lose your Logistics -a lot-. But it was an interesting idea regardless. Probably most people just multibox with dual gank boats. Could be way wrong as I never went any further with this idea than the little bit of research I did and youtube. |

I used to multi box PVP quite a bit. I've experimented with a few different set ups but but my favorite was 2x HML nano Drakes.
I was looking for a way to expand the amount I could take out with out being gay and bringing a logistic ship or a falcon. 2x Drakes seemed to work pretty good and fairly easy to manage unless you just got over taken by too many ships.
This is probably one of my favorite fights I had with them.
http://eve-kill.net/?a=kill_related&kll_id=12211874
Even though I lost both Drakes I had actually ran 2 other cruisers away at the start, that never came back and their Drake warped away in structure, only to repair and come back when I had the Navy Apoc in Half Armor. I was too low on shields by that point to handle a fully repaired Drake pluses the Nvy Apoc.
That was one of the few brawling type fights I had with dual boxing most were just typical ganks.
I've also used interceptors & stealth bombers, but that was more for ganking stuff while I ran FW missions for isk.
One other set up I used paired up with a friend, was a Recon tag team. I flew an Arazu & he Flew a Rapier and then we each dual boxed either a Bomber for the DPS or Drakes with Cloaks. This was for null sec, so we had to have the cloaks due to the area we were hunting as soon as we killed one or two they would come camp all the exit gates and try to probe us.
It was funny though when they would cry about AFK cloaky Drakes.
There was one other dude that used to multi box something like 8 or 9 Drakes then he moved on to Torp Ravens, but he was using some sort of mouse duplicating software to control them all. I used to see him camping gates in Syndicate sometimes. |

The most common way was station games, with a massive DPS platform, and a Logi ship that waits until the last second to show up and assist. This may have changed some since can flipping is nerfed.
Other setups are: Bait tank, and DPS. T3/Command ship off grid booster and *ship of choice Carrier giving drone support to gate camps Tackle with tiny syg radius, and then a local spike Scout running 2 jumps ahead and Main in a fleet
I have 2 combat characters, but I rarely duel box them... Flying 1 ship with full concentration is about all I can do. Lots of guys have quick minds and quick reflex's though, and 2 ships is fairly easy for them. Duel monitors would be a huge asset, I only have 1 myself :( |

I was never very good at it, especially d-boxing logistics. That **** is hard. It helps if you play in Windowed mode or have multiple monitors.

I would assume he is using something like isboxer, it is just strange to me that while pvp-multiboxers are commonplace on Planet of Pandaemonium it is low-key over here. I know a leet Finnish multiboxer too but he ain't boxing frigs. Usually he 4-boxes a scanning dictor, 2 booster alts and a dps ship.
You can't do those with isboxer. |

I don't think "not being gay" and "I brought 2 drakes" belong in the same paragraph. |

Guide to multibox:
1. Get used to ships and roles to a point where you dont need to think about what you do and do it on reflex 2. Pick a scenario that you want to do, have a clear idea what you want to do or engage 3. Practice makes perfect 4. Spend few $ and get a multiboxing software 5. Be ready to lose badly at first
Find the playstyle that suits you best, maybe miltiboxing is not for you. There are several ways you can do multiboxing, you could pilot every pilot individualy or just use a software to clone commands. Like everything else this is just a tool and if you are not using it for the right job - it will just not work out.
Good luck with the boxing

That's not a guide. That's stating the obvious. All points barring 4 pertain to running a single account anyway.
Guiding to walking:
(You may want to get used to crawling first)
1. Have legs 2. Get used to standing. 3. Use baby steps to begin with. 4. Spend a few $ on socks and shoes 5. Be ready to fall over a lot at first.
Good luck with the walking |

Use really tanky ships to start when you're trying this out or you'll totally murder yourself. If you can afford it, buy two screens to play on (I use two 22inch samsung monitors, bought them cheap on ebay used).
Start with 2 characters, one on each screen; I think I used drakes at first. Do some missions. Get a feel for what you need to do to stay near each other and keep moving, as well as controlling two pilots at once.
If you find that this is your style, you could consider getting some 3rd party software (ISBoxer is the most reliable at the moment to my knowledge). This software is not against the TOS/EULA as long as you do not use it to automate any gameplay (such as botting software would do). You must be present at your keyboard at all times with any activity that isn't automated by the game (such as auto-firing, auto mining, etc.).
Once you get comfortable with 2 toons, add a 3rd if you like. It's helpful at this point to watch list all your characters and establish an "anchor" toon to orbit all your other characters on (or keep at range/approach).
ISBoxer is mostly helpful for the window management, because anything over 2 you need a lot of monitors or incredible memory of which windows are which as you alt tab.
I have run anywhere from 3-9 characters depending on what I'm doing. My experience is that you can manage 2-3 combat toons pretty easily once you get used to it, but over that and your efficiency begins to drop in PVP. So save the over 3 for PVE, start with 2 for PVP, and work your way up to 3 if you want to do that sort of thing.

Actually quite a few folks dual (or more) box for pvp in this game. Some examples i see regularly:
Links alts Dictor alts Logistics alts - used to be very common in high sec station games - perhaps not so popular now after this versoin of eve IDK i dont really hang in high sec any more Dread/super cap alts on standby to hot drop in a major engagement or for some pos bash Awoxing alt (spy used for tackling or giving a warp in) Cov ops alts
There are prob alot of others i dont even notice

You're telling me there's people who DON'T dualbox? I mean for god's sakes, I have 6 accounts. Sort your life out.
Most proper corps/alliances I know only survive through multiboxing. (Snuff Brox, RnK, Infiana, Constantine, etc.) Personally I barely have less than 3 clients open. |

I used to multibox with 6 accounts with single monitor just by alt+tabbing.
Playing EVE is a process inside your head so you know what your clients should do , only thing that you have to do is to alt+tab to give some more commands or get some information from screen.
All of those alts did not participate fights but were scouts or boosters, usually bringing 2 or more alts to same fight does not give same efficiency to fight than bringing 2 players to fight so i think if you like to have small scale pvp you should forget alts on actual fight.
I have been in 2 different fight with two different alts at same time, that is some how funny experience. |
