Why they included them in the first place is beyond my understanding. You can solve a lot of the crap gameplay in this game by simply getting rid of them. At least put a 3month time limit on when one can create a new alt. Nah, better to just nuke them all.

Not gonna happen...
although it wold be nice if mains and alts were "trackable" i.e. if you used an alt to grief or circumvent game rules or generally be a buttwad people would know that the "Alt" is one of the "Main Characters" account. Would help relieve a LOT of unecessary pain for Players and CCP from the few Eve Players that are only there to cause misery...

Alts make the world go round.
What exactly qualifies as an alt? I have multiple chars on different accounts, each one has a purpose ( none of which is to post lame crap on the boards or kess gank noobs in Jita) which are the alts and which are the mains?

My alt sold me some knocked off gear in a pub. When I got home, the laptop he sold me didn't work! Not only that, when I looked inside it, there was just a bit of paper saying Kompooter on it.

the character with the most "skillpoint" would qualify as the Main. your less likely to nuke a char with 8 mill skillpointz than an alt with 500K worth, and your "Main" would have a history (transferrable) of previous alts created and destroyed. Only those who play to take advantage of others need be concerned. 99% of the playerbase it won't affect. Only the "Yulai" gankers.. Corp theives, Griefers. etc would get known and precautions taken. It's not perfect, nothing is.. but it's a darn sight better than the current setup

Sorry and all that, but dont you think the 'Get Rid of Alt' threads have run their course by now.
To summarise, make them trackable so there are repercussions. anything else is mute, especially as people are buying ingame chars with isk to add to thier growing hoard of skilled alts.

You be quiet, alt-boy. I completely agree with the original poster. Alts should be minced into a peanut butter-like substance and sold in jars to old people.

My 2nd account has 3x characters, 9m, 4m and 4m skill points.
Some dude posting the 48395735739th "let alts die OMG" post with less skill points than ANY of my alts can drop dead for being less than an alt himself.

OK alts can cause problems and cause people to get scammed and ripped off. But I like my alts, they can haul, spy and have even been know to do the odd suicide attack on a thief etc.
You don't like alts then fine, don't use them.
You been scammed, use and alt to kill an alt.

I think like most games ccp made them so you could have a miner fighter ect.
Since we can train all skills to 1 guy & new content alts never took a true form, I use 1 to haul he has still to indy3 & 1 to scout low skills but can use ships scanners.
I 100% agree loads could would be fixed if alts were tied to mains, Id loved to find out who vogen realy is but what about secound accounts ?.

easy solution, alts take 2 weeks to delete.
This is enough time for any complaints of an alt to be looked into, and issues resolved with the account holder if needed.
If you need to remove an alt faster, file a petition to request it, and if there are no outstanding complaints against the alt, it can be done asap.
Now this means more time to manage the users and servers, so CCP would have to increase the fees...soooooo why not just leave things alone, and stop whining about alts as if all alts are recycled on a daily basis
(I keep my alts for the forums, and no, all you taunting kiddies, it has nothing to to with my testee's or hormone levels related to your childish notions of being a 'man', it is to keep trolls and kiddies from bugging me in the game, it is that simple)
..ok, I use then rarely to spy on a system too, another legit usage of alts imho.

I think your be suprised how much money some people have.
We twist our ideas all over iv noticed, we all say EVE best game cos it has consequeses & real loss, then we defend alting cos it has no consequeses or risk.
I want my alts but am more then happy if they show in my info, still I cant windup the local pirates so easy hehe but ill adapted & as a vet iv had to adapted to some of the silliest changes done purly by ccp not us.

Instead of killing them and whatever radical idea you have, why not just let them follow the main to wich ever corp he joins, as in automatically.

As much as I hate alts, I can't trash them anymore.
I say this because as I'm getting lower and lower sec, it's getting irritating having to send my corpm8s to do shopping in high sec.
The problem with this is that people who use shuttle/hauler alts to do their shopping, since they can't reach the market otherwise, would be screwed. If you ID'd the alts to everyone's main, people would randomly suicide the alts or wardec them if possible just to hurt the main.
The problem for this is not only gameplay, but plotline. That's like offing some random guy in Brazil because you think he's the reincarnation of the guy who knocked up your sister in Rhode Island.

just have an extra tab when you show info on people next to bio/standings/employment history etc that lists all the alts on that account
