Hi,
I don't normally respond to threads, as you can see for yourself, but this one is just TOO GOOD to pass up!
600 members for CLS is terrific accomplishment. Now, as for the numbers themselves, I would say that is at least 300 seperate people.
I myself have 2 toons in the corporation.
Talons and Talons Empire Hauling Alt (TEHA). Not that it matters much. I mean, if you have only 3 slots and you put 66% of your available resources into the corporation, that is saying something in itself about the corporation.
As for management, we have a very rigidly defined 'chain of command', which makes it very clear where someone needs to go to get information. We have an AWESOME website, for information distribution. We request/require all members to get an account on that as the corporate EVE mail is totally friggin' borked and worthless.
As for requirements to get in, these have been specifically defined as well. Although, all rules have exceptions, we try to stick to them pretty well.
Our recruiters are TOP NOTCH and do not have to be that active in the aggressive role, as we have a lot of applicants to screen. However, we are actively recruiting, but that might stop for a couple of weeks shortly to allow this last group of new members to get familiar with things.
We have several programs that help our newer members to CLS and to the GAME itself which helps dramatically in allowing our players to "Get to the Next Level" of their game play. Whether it be a Cruiser, or their First Battleship.
Alot of how our corporation is structured and what is all about can be found on our website at: www.celestial-horizon.net.
Sometimes Corp Chat can be a little slow, actually. Other times, it is scrolling rather quickly. But, most of the time it maintains a sense of sanity.
Now, some of you may think CYVOK is a complete dictator and that would be the only way he could get this corporation going and maintain its integrity (wholeness) and still have everyone want to play, but he is not. He has ideas, he presents them. Most of the time, we like or love the idea. If not, we tell him. YES, we have that priviledge and right to do so.
This corporation is by definition and existence, owned and operated by its membership. The leadership are servants to those members.
What is really cool about the way we have structured the corporation overall, is that ALL leadership members also have enough time to actually PLAY THE GAME!
I think overall, we have an AWESOME corporation and I thank each and every member for being in EVE and more specifically in Celestial Horizon Corporation.
IMHO, The BEST Corporation in EVE!

How do your new members keep from becoming "just microscopic cogs in some catastrophic plan, designed and directed by your red right hand?"
Seriously though, what are your criteria for recruitment? And how aggressive are is your recruiting staff?

Best move i ever did was joining CLS. 600 sounds like we'd be just a bunch of varous ppl recruited here and there but that couldn't be further from the truth. Corp chat is allways busy but as lon Zoidberg is sleeping it's no problem.

Good job, though I sympathise with the leaders in the corp. No doubt they spend a large portion of thier game day devoted to putting others before them selves.
Anyone know how big [THEMM] were before they broke up? Think they were around the 550 mark at thier peak if I remember right.

can't remember off the top of my head, but they were usually slightly bigger than us. we were bigger than them a couple times, but they were usually slightly higher. no more than 50 more.

Edited by: Weebear on 10/06/2005 15:52:26 There was the THEMM Academy. Not sure what the deal was with it, but it had around 100-150 members. Think they would have peaked at around 500 combined. ----------------------- Honor and Serve!

Good job CLS, getting that many people to be nice to each other must be a nightmare.
But maybe not..Its been a long time since ive been in a "legit" corp.. where purposely insulting people isn't regarded as a corp passtime :S _____________________________________ Perpetually driven, your end is our beginning. "Can I be a consultant for EVE II?" - WhiteDwarf |

That's soooo untrue DJ. We actually already had a "DanielJackson" (no spaces) in our corp when you came in, so you had some competition for the name. However, he was much better at punctuation and grammar than you were, so we had to let you go. Sorry about that m8.

...indeed... the empire... erm.. "disposal" section is always atempting to get new ways on how to spend the most ammo.
...and belive me when I say that there's allot of ammo to be used.
Hey we are an Alliance, being at war with CLS also means being at war with DDC
we big bad pvp loving Mofo's,
ah well, back to the Stripminer II's again
250's are definitely more versatile, but All the cool kids are using 280's. |

If my history serves me right, yes, around that mark. And FYI, [NMM] is still around with several [THEMM] members and we're hiring :P
I'm not one to hijack threads, so congrats CLS. I only hope that NMM can be as big as you all one day.
Did I mention we're recruiting? |
