Alright, you might as well gimmie the Darwin Award right now.. here goes the story of why you should never participate in corp events..
Setting: T'was beta, phase 6 or 7 I belive and industrial ships were just about ready to be introduced. CCP held an event where millions upon millions of Tritanium and other worthless ore had to be mined and deposited into 4 stations, one station in each of the four different regions.. one for Amarr, Gallente.. etc.
WELL, at this time industrials were uber ships. An Iteron had the stats of a cruiser (only Gallente cruiser at the time being Exequror), but it had huge cargo. Since they will supposedly cost 10-15mil each, my corp decides to hold an event where the person(s) with the most isk/ore donated to the corp will get an indi as soon as they get on the market. I'm thinking "SWEET! It's the ultimate ship, and ill be super-special too!" so I work my ass off for ~5mil in bistot (that being a HUGE sum of isk at the time) and gave it all to the corp.
Well.. 3 days pass since the contest started and is about to end in several minutes. I went a little nuts over the situation wondering who had submitted and how much, etc.
you can see the conversation for yourself here:
well in the end, I WON. You know why? because NO ONE ENTERED THE CONTEST. No one but me had bothered to read the corp website or listen to the Commanding Officers..
OK, I think, sucks for them, should of paid attention, har har har! I give my friend 500k or somesuch to donate to the corp, he gets second place.. and some guy who gave 100k to the corp for no reason was entered in the contest. So there we were, 3 entrants, 3 winners. SUPER!
Just one thing.. player-wipe the next day. Industrials are for sale on the market for 600k and have the stats of a noob ship with large cargo, not some uber-cruiser.
In today's standards, thats like loosing 3 Thorax cruisers in the blink of an eye.. _____________________________________ Perpetually driven, your end is our beginning. "Can I be a consultant for EVE II?" - WhiteDwarf |
