I made the circle through Chesiette hunting for Serpentes in my Incursus.
Noticed 4 of them buggers in a belt, found it odd they didn't move the tiniest bit into my direction.
Well, I thought that being an easy kill, locked on and started firing.
And watched in horrified shock when I got messaged being hit for nearly 60 damage by Gallente Navy sth...
Nedless to say they finished me off in about 10 seconds.
... I want dessert - where is my Overlord?

A while ago, was ninja mining Arkanor in 0.0 system in a Probe frigate, i came across a belt with a lot of cargo containers.
"ahh folks have maybe died here, or pirates have maybe died here i though"
As i went from container to container scooping up the loot. In the back of my mind i was thinking "i had better get this loot back to station before the NPC Pirates wa...."
"beep beep, target lock, NPC Pirates had warped in right on top of me" "****, panic, try to warp" - - - warp scrambled
Probe destroyed in 2 seconds flat, so i became another victim of the NPC pirates, with my own stuff now drifted amongst all the stuff that i had just picked up |

Was wondering through the lower security systems in the Lonetrek region where low threat Guristas tend to guard Flotsam and random cargo bays close to the jump gates. I was in my new Thorax. Anyways, I can take on 4 or 5 at a time with no sweat...so I warp to a jump gate and see several there and start locking and firing. Well, instead of locking on a NPC pirate, I locked on the jump gate and fired on it. I proceeded to get pounded by the sentry guns. I thought I was going to get podded but I warped out with 6% armor and 7% hull. PK you later......CT |

ok 2 weeks ago..
moved to a different corp - was 45 jumps away
melted down all spare loot , loaded my indy with prize possessions incl cu vapors , rare hybrids, ammo, missiles, rare shields etc. cargo filled with v nice loot. unreplaceable really.
so i set off, indy v slow took like 2hours 30 mins to get to destination.
i arrive ouside station and set to dock..
i then see corp mate bazzing around in new shuttle (only just brought out then)
so i target lock to get a good look - looks cool
as i near station - 4 a laff i fire one shot at him.....doh!!
sentry posts open up firing at me
shield stripped in seconds..
armour next to go..
as hull being stripped i try to eject
i eject to find no ship outside..
a tear wells in my eyes as all possessions disappear
i then dock
to my absoulute disbelief - i find ship with all possessions docked inside
hull at 5%

Heh, I was out mining one day with some of my corp-mates, pirates come in (I usually get guard duty, but I had a mining laser along because we weren't in that nasty a belt) so I lock target, and I decide to lock my can so I can get back to it (makes life easier for the indies, you know?). So, I fly off, start my cannon up, and fire off a couple missiles.
"Great shot Blinder..."
Huh? Oh, heh, the stuupid targeter flipped to the can when I fired my missile, well, okay, missile wasted, no harm done... *clicky* *clicky* fire another missile.
"GREAT shot..."
Wait, where's the can??? I BLEW UP MY CAN!!! (At this point, I hadn't found out that you can kill canisters, I had actually figured they were invulnerable when the first missile didn't kill it). Well, no matter, only about 200 omber in there.
"Hah, Blinder blew up like 10k Omber!"
At which point I notice that the cargo container tab for *my* can is still open... and I had just obliterated one of the other guys' piles...

I am sitting in 0.6 system mining omber. kind've buried in belt a little bit. I am in a Moa and got 1 gun rest is miners. got couple hornets out as added precaution. every now and then between 2 and 4 sansha's minions or savagers come in. I just take them out no sweat. then I notice this guy CAPT REAPER (swear that was his name) in a reaper aproaching, and he is inside the 10km zone. so figure he is gonna steal some out of my can. this is where it gets interesting. pirates show up at this time I fire on them my hornets attack them. and this rube attacks my hornet. next I get this message something about concorde coming in, and am thinking darn it did I splash that guy or something. hadn't realized he had attacked my hornet yet. well concorde come waste him and he sits there saying he wants me to replace his lost ship and stuff because he was protecting me. from the hornets that were circling me. me in a cruiser...
So I nominate CAPT REAPER for an honerable mention (what is given in real darwin awards for those that don't die from there stupidity)
even more bummer was that concorde hung out in that belt for next couple days. but didn't stop the NPC pirates from attacking other miners. guess they only hunt player miscreants

I was mining and filled up with ore! I saw a Badger taking grief from NPCs so I helped him out. I wanted to see what the pirates dropped so I jettisoned my ore, thinking I could always pick it back up or partial fill. Plus I did'nt want the Badger getting the pirate gear. I emptied the NPC containers and looked for my ore. The Badger had nicked it, so after god knows how long mining I ended up with 2 low level pirate items. The man has no honour. Thinking about it what would a Badger mining in 1.0 go for pirate stuff or ore?

couple of days ago i started producing ammo, and trying to sell it... well in 5 days i made about 800K profit. Anyway, i was hunting in non-empire space and returning to my homebase with the loot for the recycling of it.
Once home i opened de processingplant to recycle all my loot, very happy i was when i saw that most of the items were giving me alot of minerals and so in the end i ended up with 5-6 megacyte and 10+ zydrine.
ok, but where the hell is my ship? yep, i accidentaly recycled my bestower :/

Wow! Three pages so far of miners, traders and pirates sharing stories without *****ing about each other. The Eve community finally united by our own stupidity - long may it last :)
I was visiting a pretty busy 0.0 system in my indy and decided to take a look at the asteroids available in the system. Flying out to the belt I found a battle in full swing between several players and a group of heavy duty NPC pirates. So I thought, well, if the pirates are occupied fighting those guys I'll just nip in at the edge of the belt and do a little crockite mining. I found an asteroid on the edge of the belt and locked it.
Now you might think, at this point, a wise pilot would skirt around the belt and find a good approach keeping all the nasties at a safe distance. So this humble pilot pulled up the menu and clicked 'Approach' right then and there.
Within a matter of a few seconds I found myself piloting my unarmed Bestower right through the middle of the firefight. Two pirate cruisers locked on and started pounding my shields to nothing and I started to think maybe I should haul my arse out of there. But, of course, the warp drive wouldn't work. No, problem, I thought, cos my indy's fitted for speed and could easily ourun my attackers, so I fire up all the afterburners.
Now, I don't know how many of you have tried navigating an industrial thorugh an asteroid belt, but it was about this point I realized they're not quite as maneuvrable as frigates. With three afterburners blazing I was pulling the monumental speed of 20m/s as I frantically tried to find a gap I could fly through to escape. All to no avail.
My armour was dropping, my hull starting to look very unhealthy, cap was scraping the bottom and by now I was trying to juggle the AB's for thrust with the shield booster to keep at least some structure protected. All the while cursing myself for getting into that situation without even a weapon to defend myself, and starting to make mental calculations of how long it would take me to be able to afford a new ship.
Thankfully, around this time these remaining pirates had drawn the attention of the others in the belt and I heroically managed to keep my attackers' attention diverted on my crumbling wreck of a ship long enough for them to save my bacon and turn the bad guys to dust.
I limped out of there with no shields, no cap, 1.6% armour, and 2.4% structure. As they're fond of saying on Star Trek - one more hit like that and I was a gonner. It took me half an hour before my hands stopped shaking :)

during beta...
mining in a mid level security system.
me in a cruiser, rest in frigates...
in come the pirates
so i say to the fighters "wait don't kill them yet i want to try this new toy out"
"ok go on"
and off goes the torpedo... actually i think it got 10m away before encountering the nice shiny new frigate of my corp mate, destroying it severly damaging me and 2 other mining frigates.

Creating my character without any reference to the manual or even realising that the differnet schools etc affected the attributes you ended up with. (I didn't play Beta u c)
As a result I have maxed out charisma (soon to be 19) and bugger all intelligence/memory! ofc I now know that Charisma has absolutely 0 impact on the game atm...
By the time I realised that this was a serious impediment to my chosen career I had already spent so much time with the character (3 weeks) that I couldn't bare to delete it and start again.
So if you ever want to meet the Amarr equivalent of
'Nice but dim Tim'
then look me up :)

k this one was funny for me and Askari.
i had posted here in the market chan looking to trade a tristan bp copy for a merlin bp copy he contacted me via email and we arranged to meet and trade.
well we both spent a little while traveling and talking we got to the same station and i started a trade almost at the same time we both put our bp's in the trade and we both just could not stop laughing we had both brought tristan bp's with us.
seems we got our lines crossed but was funny all the same we have kept in contact since. ----

Ok I have two items on this topic:
1. I thought you needed to buy a skill to advance an additional level in a skill you already had - the result I saved cash for about 5-6 days and I bought a skill I already had. Only then did I understand how the skill training system really worked.
2. Well this one must be a classic. I'm hanging around a station waiting for a friend to come out, and a player (obviously a newb) in a rifter comes up and locks on to me and warp scrambles me. At this point I'm amused and do not open fire because of the sentry guns, and I want to see what this person hopes to accomplish. He starts opening fire, I think about firing back but wait instead - I want to see if those sentry guns really work. Sure enough, the sentry guns blow his rifter to bits in 2 seconds. I laughed and laughed. But when the laughter subsided I genuinely felt bad for him. A new player spends a lot of time saving up for a rifter, and he lost his in two seconds because no one warned him about the sentry guns |

After an extremely pleasing looting trip in Curse where I'd blasted about 40 Pirate Cruisers with no armour damage Im heading back to base on Autopilot, 44 Jumps I think it was, so I head in the other room to watch some tube and listen out for gate pirates. Fell asleep and my shiny hunting Vex was blasted to small pieces by a couple of gate pirate frigates :( Net result lost the Vex, 1 Hvy Mod Laser, 2 dual 450 scouts and a bunch of cool loot, do I win :)

Ok, me and my buddy are mining in a .5 with two Thorax's all decked out with mining lasers. We are using 8 Wasp drones each for protection. We are parked closed to each other and the indy pilot is off collecting the pirate loot.
When an Imicus shows up and parks right between us. I figure he is going to steal some ore from our cans, I not real concerned as we are mining more per minute than his little ship can hold and its only pyrox. But instead of stealing ore he set off his micro smart bomb. What he was trying to acomplish I don't know, kill our mining drones?. Well he didn't kill any of the Wasps, but it did **** them off. The 16 Wasps went into Auto attack, in under 4 second this guy is setting in his pod. There really was no time to stop them.
Now I didn't get the guys name as the Police showed up and start chasing me and my buddy. I guess some how we were resonsable for the fool trying to commit suicide. The Indy picked up our ore and drones and confiscated the fools micro-smart bomb.

Recently after a weeks hard work mining I had enough for my first cruiser, a Bellicose. I enjoyed battling with the new types of pirates it allowed me to fight, and found lots of nice loot items out in Curse.
After a heavy nights drinking with my team from work it seemed like a good idea to have a quick visit to the world of Eve, you know, see how the market is looking, check on skills, yeah right.. the temptation was too great, Pirate Hunting beckoned.
My shiny new cruiser was cut down by 3 medium level NPC cruisers, which sober would have been a cakewalk.
I went to bed and slept badly.
Red faced I confessed to my corp mates. However things got worse.
In a morning clouded with a severe headache I decided to try to make it back to civilisation with my remaining loot (4m+ in value) in a reaper.
Half way through the journey the phone rings. I answer and then 30 seconds later turn to the screen to see a PC pirate destroy my ship, loot, and pod.
Do not drink and drive!!!!

Guess I may as well add my own story of shame...
Let me set the scene. Me and a friend are in a small corp that he set up (there are 4 members). Back when we thought mining Kernite was the only way to make a decent amount of money, we spent all night mining to amass enough to finally afford a cruiser. We mined almost continuously from 11pm through to 7am the next day. This, combined with the fact that I had only slept for 5 hours the night before, put me in a very weird state of mind.
Well anyway we eventually got enough money from this mining marathon to get a Vexor. I'm trying to go to bed but my mate insists on taking it out to a low level belt and testing it, so I agree to come and watch in my Tristan. Out in a belt my friend is busy taking on four 0.6 pirates but another object catches my attention - a drone that has been left behind. Great, I think, I'll scoop it up - except that I can't. Apparently it has to be incapacitated first.
Bearing in mind my lack of sleep, this is how my train of though progressed: -I want to pick up the drone -I need to incapacitate it -if I shoot it, it will be incapacitated.
I locked on and fired.
My mate watched and laughed from the safety of the Vexor as Concord beat several shades of crap out of me...
And to top it all off, I was so annoyed with myself that I couldn't sleep properly :S |

1st moa we ever built to sell, as part of the deal we had to deliver the moa to a forward base of ours. Having never flown a Moa before that point, I decided to check it out when some NPC gate pirates started taking pot shots at me along the way. At one particular gate, locked onto and fired at the NPC, but failed to notice that he was on the OTHER side of the stargate from me, which I was still like 25k or so away from. My missiles flew straight towards the NPC just as they are supposed to, but next thing I know I see "your Pirahna missile strikes jumpgate for xx damage" and the sentry guns open up on me with their death rays. I kicked on the burners and barely made jump before they got through the armor. Only had a small armor repairer at the forward base, so had to sit outside station for about 20 or 30 minutes with the repairer on automatic once I got there.

This was in beta and as a happy noob I headed out to the nerest asteroid belt... started up my mininglaser... after a while I rightclickt on my ship... and what did i see, an option to "eject", well wounder what will happen I thought... I pressed that option and was outside my ship in an "egg"... Hmm oki, that was interesting but I think I will get back inside my shiny new noobship...
But I couldŠt enter it again becuse my mininglasers was hammering on the roid, and the game let me know that I couldŠt enter due to that and it even had a timer counting for the mining cyckel... I wouldnŠt be alowed back in the ship if the miners didnt stop working... Well that timer only increased(wich i didnŠt realised at first(at that time a WELL known bug)) so I whaited, in my egg for like 10 minutes and tryed to enter, nope miners will turn of in 5 min... then 10 minutes, 15 minutes and so on... 30 min later, I headed back to station and to my big suprise got a new noobship... I did some mining in another belt but aprox 3 hours later I passed my first belt... And yes, my old ship was still mining all on it own...

This happened in Beta, in my noob reaper ship I attacked a convoy and was immediatly in a pod. I was in a 1.0 noob system. So I fly my pod into the station get a new reaper and undock. Immediatly I am destroyed again because of my low rating. I can't get out of even the station area. I had to terminate my character.

Today I was showing a fellow Corp member that a Punisher can deal with any NPC missile boat, and that NPC missile boats are over rated.
90 seconds later as I was handed my arse back to me on a plate to keep me company in my pod I did have the forsight to explain to my Corp members that, that was a demonstration on how not to do it!
