So Im in low and I've managed to draw a low sec corp into a battle with me and my alt. I split the fleet and pull and enyo and ishkur away from the heavier stuff, "No problem for my Cyclone I said".
However, i put my drones on the Ishkur as he has me pointed and I lock and F1 my guns and neuts on the Enyo, except nothing happened! The enyo is getting closer and Im just not shooting him, the Ishkur pulls off from the drone dps but the enyo is now in range and has me hard tackled. Suddenly my guns and tackle activate and start hitting him but by this time its too late to melt him and they have a Vexor on me, then a Domi and Naga begin to apply dps at range.
After the gf's I investigate wtf happened and it dawned on me we have this ridiculous carebear safety function on our ships. CCP, please adjust this button to default to yellow in Low and Red in null please or.... Get rid of it!

OP is complaining because he forgot to change the setting...? That'd be like me asking CCP to make MWDs require no cap after losing a Laser ship because I forgot to turn off the MWD and ran my capacitor dry.

Instead of learning from your mistake and making a choice to get a different outcome, you are trying to get rid of the choice entirely and blaming the mistake on something other than yourself.

Its not like you can't shoot someone with safety set to green, its hardly made anyone safer because people who have it set to green by choice probably wouldnt shoot at things first anyway (if that makes sense). Plus they recently changed it to keep your safety settings so now you just choose red or yellow and you never have to touch the button again.

There was a bug with this when it was introduced, where they didn't save its state, so you had to switch it off every time you changed sessions.

You're mistaken, it hasn't been there "always". It was introduced, buggily, in retribution.

Just make the game free pvp everywhere except noob systems, let me bble the crap out of gates, anchor bbles outside jita, bomb jita undock and drop capital fleets or cyno large fleet everywhere, let me cyno fleets in to wh's !!
Now this would be an unconditional pvp game but bad news, Eve is not an unconditional pvp game, pvp is just a part of the game.

here comes a little funny (sad) story.
once i got CONCORDOKKEN, killed, podded, gifted to one person killrights on me, got SUSPECT, killed and podded again. This is funny part of a story. Funny for some people. And sad for me.
How it happened? I attacked some smart person who plays with SUSPECT flag. I attacked him and got CONCORDOKKEN. It was real WTF for me. But it happened.
After investigation (petition + duscussion with GM) i found that SUSPECT which i attacked lost his flag SUSPECT 13 seconds before my attack. And he still was shown on my overview as SUSPECT. Should i use GREEN security switcher i would not attack him. But i was "big boy" so i switched it to RED and attacked him anyway.
Just some kind of lag/bug in client which can't be traced. "Logs show nothing. Flag suspect was cleared at point 0. You attacked at point 13 seconds".
So i really sure security switcher is good when it is possible to have 13 seconds delays when we speak about CRIMEWATCH.

Judging from your post, in your case i would say they made eve harder, and that's what you are complaining about. Please don't say they should not make eve easier, when you have problems disabling they safety feature...

Yeah, set the safety to yellow, too. A few days later I log back in again and it's back to green.
After that my inner carebear was to lazy to switch it back to yellow. -.-

Well, at least now it's set (presumably) the way you want it and don't have to worry about it again.
What used to annoy me was the "Are You Sure" boxes that would pop up and require you to take the time (usually in a desperate situation) to check a check box to ensure that they would not pop up again. Of course that only happened after a reinstall or on a new computer, but it caught me out a few times.
To carve a successful niche for yourself in EVE you need to be able to out sell, out produce, out fight,-á out run, or out wit your competitors.
If you can do none of the above, your only option is to complain on the forums that somehow you are at a disadvantage using the exact same tool set-áas the rest of the player base. |
