I was almost sold an omen instead of an apoc once in station trade. I'm glad I checked the info. But if you're in a hurry and tired it is actually possible to fall for such one I guess.

I didn't fall for it either.
20mil for a Ferox seemed too good to be true, and it was, he was trying to sell me a destroyer he had named Ferox. Ah, well, another 7mil and I can get a real one...

Beware of people in Jita trying to sell Frigs and Cruisers as Crows and Ferox's. They have even gone to the trouble of doctoring the pics 'ingame' so they appear in a trade as the real ships.
Tey eve mail you first telling you what they have and then try and rush the trade. As soon as I cottoned onto the scam I made everyone aware in local, unfortunatly some people had been scammed already
This has been reported to CCP as I would class this as an exploit

And highly unlikely its even possible. You sure its not just a similar looking picture and a bit of human error? This would mean they would have to alter the code at your end on your PC. If they can do that then whatelse are they stealing/changing!?!
BTW, I used to sell shuttles for 10million ISK to one of my old enemies, great way to make cheap easy money and mess up the enemy at the same time. I believe the record was 1 trit for 1billion!

You can change pics in your client, but they will only show up changed in your client, not anyone else's.
So no, its nto possible I think. And if it would, it would be a very fast way to a permaban since modifying the client itself is already an offense.

A guy in Empire called The Officer is trying to sell cormorants as Ferox's. e is an obvious alt though, Been in game a few weeks and his story is that he is having to leave and therefore sell 3 ferox....
Why bother selling if he is leaving? Dumbass
