My skills are mining 4 and astro 4 with mining drone 4 and Drone Interface 4 Cyclone:
5 miner 2's 60*5=300 m3 *1.2 (mining 4) *1.2 (astro 4) = 432 m3 * 1.05 * 1.05 (for each mining upgrade) = 476 roughly per minute 3 assault launchers
a varied mid slot assortment with a shield booster
2 mining upgrades 2 cpu's
5 mining drone 1's 5*15= 75m3 *1.2 (mining drone 4) * 1.8 (drone interface 4)= 162 * a relative time coeeficent of anywhere from .5 -.9 depending on your distance from the nearest roid. lets say a .8 for figures 162 *.8 = 129.6 m3 3 light drones for defense
Total mining yield per minute: 605.88

This might be getting OT, but it seams ppl are mentioning Barge and mining upgrades.. I have a covertor, with 3 stripminer I's., 1 Mining upgrade I in the lowslot. now this give a nice output, about 1019 units for each stripminer, but more want more.. any ideas on how to get a second mining upgrade fitted? would be a shame to waste that extra low slot :) problem is, I need 20 more cpu...
Skills: Electronics lvl5 to boost cpu, mining upgrade lvl4, lvl5 would take me some 20 days more, anyone know if that would give me the power I need? or it will be 20 wasted traning days? :)
Anything that can be fitted to med-slots that boost cpu? I find none :-/
with Kind Regards
Ramek / Jan
Covetor base cpu output = 200 tf Electronics V = 1.25*200= 250 tf to work with
Strip miner (t1 or t2) base cpu need = 60 tf Mining upgrade I cpu need = 30 tf
Lets say we have mining upgrades V trained, this would mean we see a 25% reduction in the penalty of the upgrade. Therefore the base 10% penalty to the cpu of the lasers would be reduced to 7.5% of each laser. So each strip miner (both t1 & t2) would use 69.3375 tf if we have two mining upgrades fitted.
Bear in mind we have two mining upgrades fitted so we have 250 tf - 60 tf = 190 tf left to online our 3 lasers. However, since one laser needs 69.3375 tf to online we can see we're 208.0125 - 190 = 18 tf short
quite sad really, and unless my math is off, its impossible to fit 3 strip miners and 2 mining upgrades on a covetor. the only way to reach this goal would be to purchase one of those ridiculously overpriced hulks (build cost for these is only around 40mil).

This has been puzzling me, and the post above me touches a little bit on Strip Miners; but anyways, here's the question:
I was looking at the Ice Harvester and Strip Miner and all versions of these lasers require 12,000cpu.
They get a 98% reduction when fitted on a mining barge.
2% of 12,000 = 240cpu without upgrades, even the mining barge V of each race can't handle even on laser.
But obviously people strip mine, so what other math is involved to get, as posted in the above post:
Strip Miner = 60cpu
I'm training my skills up to buy a procurer to get me started and am just curious as to what to expect once I have it. Thanks for the help in advance guys!

Im real new to Eve, only about 14 days so far. Ill list what I am doing now with my mining, and can anyone possibly give me suggestions, or just confirm that Im on the right track?
I'm currently mining in 0.6 space (pretty much to myself) using;
Scythe for mining, HI: 3x miner II's, 2x named assult launchers MED: 3x civi-shield boosters LO: 3x co processor 1's 1x warrior drone
The Scythe gets a +20% bonus to mining yield per lvl, and I have cruiser lvl 3 (training 4) Mining 4 Refining 4 Have planned for the imediate future astrogeology and omber processing.
Currently, with cruiser lvl 3 I pull in 576 units/tick for all 3 lasers. I try to position myself in a belt where I am within 11,999m from at least 10 astroids each containing about 2400-4200 units each, this allows me to pretty much fill up a temp can.
hoarder for hauling fitted with 3 cargo expander 1's and 3 giant containers for a total cargo cap of a little under 12k m3 (can empty out a nearly full can in 2 trips). With the instant-warps I can travel the 1 system over (no stations in my mining system) in aobut 3 minutes per trip.
This has gotten me about 40 million isk in under 5 days (given 2 days I was sick and mined for about 10 hours between the 2 days). So far this seems to be working, but I was told that a mining barge would be more efficient, but no numbers were given and Im having a hard time locating all the modifiers that I "could" utilize. I solo mine for the most part (combat in groups) , and curently money isn't a huge issue (for what I can fly) and just wanted to know if spending the time on barges would be worth it to me?

I'm wondering the same thing and can't seem to find an answer to this question anywhere. Even with most of the CPU upgrades I see readily available on the market, I can't make the math work out.

What is this "can" you speak of? The biggest thing I found is a Giant Secure Container, which can hold what 7k? And since my Badger II can hold over 10k I'd love to find out what could hold ~25k of ore so that I can help mine rather than sit and watch my buddies mine. Thanks.

My osprey set up for hi sec mining
hi 3 x Miner IIs 1 x Small Tractor Beam
Med 1 x 10nm MWD 1 x Ore Scanner (best optimum range i could find on market) 2 x cap recharger
lo 1 x Co-processor 1 1 x cargo expander
drones 2 x medium drones (usually take kinetic damage drones)
I jetcan mine with my badger mk2 to pick up the ore, use the tractor beam to tow my jetcan around with me so i can clean a belt of my chosen ore quite happily. :) --------------------------------------------- A drone is for life, not just for Christmas. |

its just jetcanning (jettisoned cargo container). jettison you first mining of ore then open the cargo container and keep putting the ore in. It does mean that some one can fly along and steal from it though even in high sec. they will be flagged to you if they do that, so you can shoot them, however if you are in a mining ship you will most likley get pwned. --------------------------------------------- A drone is for life, not just for Christmas. |

I was wondering if anyone could assist me, I am looking for a good fitting set up for my Osprey, Looking to optimize this ship to the best of its ability so far I got: High:Standard Missle Launcher, 3x Miners II not sure what would work better for the medium and low slots

gotta love the ospray so under rated in the mining world with cruiser lvl 5 and 3 T2 miners add in some mining drones (if no protection is needed) and with some mining mods in the lows .. i can out mine my corp m8's barge well the crap one anyway

The Osprey will out mine any cruiser or BC PERIOD.
If you want to waste time, and not use its bonuses, its your time.
