For the moment, NPC territory will not be changing, and you will not be able to gain the fuel advantage in those systems. Following some balancing feedback, the bonus will be a 25% reduction rather than 50%, which will help offset costs of running POS operations further out, but hopefully not be so large that it destroys the ability of others who don't get that benefit from running a POS. People who have settled claimed NPC pirate territory should in theory have different advantages that other people don't have such as more stations and better access to pirate agents.

This coming patch includes a LOT of POS balancing boosts, and I'm a little concerned with going too far. I think that given the breadth and scope of the changes, it would be a good idea to see how it turns out for a while.

You're also getting the ability to deploy a Outpost and attempt to run true convoys with freighters - last I checked, those have a capacity of up to around 1 million m3 or about 15 days of large POS operation running at full power and cpu. If you organised a convoy of 4 freighters once a week, you could perhaps haul around 60 days worth of fuel from empire every 7 days over a number of jumps that may well be reduced by the map changes; That's enough to run around 8 large POS even if you mined none of it yourself (which we made easier in 0.0 in the last patch).
This is all on top of an existing reduction in fuel requirements and a serious boost to some of the outputs. It's important not to fixate on individual numbers being some pleasing ratio.

Edited by: Redundancy on 15/06/2005 16:39:14 You're right, I was remembering the consumption volumes incorrectly - my point stands, Freighters bring a significant hauling capacity to the table and markedly change the logistics of supplying a 0.0 POS through a local station or outpost as do a large number of other changes. As for the other POS changes, I'm fairly certain you can check out the consumptions as well as output increases on Sisi.
And that, as they say, is all I have to say about that for the moment.
