Well not so much a 'stealth' patch as a 6.18GB download after the Mac launcher was updated when trying to log on this lunchtime. That's 6-7 hours on a 2MB DSL.
Normally if it's an incremental patch it just downloads the extra xxMB patch from the launcher then preceeds to the main window.
Launched EVE Online, got a message about a new build when first launching to login/pass window. Selected yes; the game relaunched and downloaded a new launcher (v.1.32) that in turn launched and now shows;
Quote:2/4 Creating EVE_Online_0-467201_mac.patch: 51.0% - Downloading 0 MB/ 6.18GB It's downloading now.
Presumably it is the data patch for the new build scheduled for tomorrow;
Quote:Extended downtime on January 10 for Dust 514 migration to Tranquility
reported by CCP Eterne | 2013-01-07T03:50:00Z
On Thursday, January 10, the regularly scheduled downtime will be extended to 5 hours and 15 minutes starting at 07:00 to 12:15 UTC.... Not sure why it is already downloading 24 hours early, so now wont be able to get back in game until after tomorrows downtime, as I assume the server will not have the new build until then? Or just some Mac patch shizzle and decides to redownload the whole client...
As you say, no new patch notes or any other explanation for this build release today.
Anyone else getting this?

Looking at the log, when you updated the Launcher it lost your EVE install somehow: INFO - # EVE Game Client version #Err You're simply downloading the game. Product Owner, EVE Launcher | Team Special Circumstances |

Any way I can avoid the re-download of the game? Or avoid this in the future. or was it related to the update to the Launcher.
I had launched the second client made with EVE Clonemaker not the original client. Not sure if that has an impact? |

What did you do regarding the Launcher? There wasn't an update published for it yesterday. If you can find your original install that would be a good starting point. Product Owner, EVE Launcher | Team Special Circumstances |

It may be a result of launching the game from the EVE Clonemaker copy first.
I made one copy of the orginal client a few days ago. I first used it yesterday with little issue.
Today I launched from EVE2 (this second clone copy) and it took me to the main EVE client log in/pass page where there was a notice saying something like " there is a new build available, woiuld you like to download it" I clicked yes. It relaunched EVE and then there was a progress window for the launcher update which downloaded. It took say 2-3 mins with a 2MB DSL connection (the progress bar froze but it still was downloading).
It then relaunched with this 'new' EVE Online Launcher v.1.32 and then started with the download info above i.e. 6.18GB. This was today around noon.
I then posted the original post with details.
After your post I decided to exit the launcher and download and relaunch via the original client and it patched normally and is ready.
Launching from the EVE2 clone is still trying to download the full client so I guess I'll trash that copy and make another via the clonemaker.
I checked the forum and saw a post about this patch and also some comment about Tranqullity weirdness so perhaps it was just some client > server glitch at the time I was logging. |
