Well here goes some advice for a player playing eve non stop since beta4.
To remind me of the begining is fun. Fun because everyone was in equal chances, everyone flown a frigate, and for me those were the best times in eve ever, for many reasons.
Now being a newbie at this stage can be more painfull, mainly because you see uber player with uber wallets and uber skills.
And ofcourse you say "I wish i had that", "It should be fun doing that" etc.
Although i never liked to mine, in the EVE's begining it was the ONLY way of making isk, and i had to do it. Most infamous PVP vets had to mine also.
I'm one guy that actualy saw Tank Ceo mining and hauling.
You have an advantage now, you only need to mie for a day or 2, after getting money for a good enough frigate and skills to fly it and use guns you can make your way to the top making agent missions. For the newbie they are never boring and you will learn the eve mechanics as you do them.
You can also try hunting NPCs in low 0.4 and you might see some action (caution that action may actually kill you) (don't forget to upgrade the clone and insure ships)
Then you can join a corp, usually if you get into a good supporting corp you will learn alot and receive (isk) help. Mostly because a corp mate can easly buy you a cruiser with his pocket change. Say tks and don't think too much about paying the isk back. Think in showing gratitude and loyalty (alot more valuable than isk IMO).
After a month of playing EVE i garantee that you will enjoy the game more and as the time passes you will enjoy it even more.
The most important thing for a corp is not your ability to fly uber ships and kill everyone, its not the fact that tou are bloody rich. The most important is comitement, trust and loyalty, even if you fly a pitty frigate, don't have money to have at least 2 private Minmatar slaves or buy yourself a nice time with a Gallente damezel .
Play as good as you can with the tools you have and people are sure to reconise your esfort.
If you play long enough you will find new (more expensive ways) of making isk.
Don't worrie too much about maximizing the learning skills and adv learning skills. First make a char that you actually enjoy playing, most of the lower skills don't need high attributes to train fast. But when you are thinking about attacking the uber LV5 skills and specialize yourself, learning and Adv. learning skills are a must.
