how about
solar wind
The Sun makes itself known throughout much of the Solar System by the influence the solar wind of high-speed charged particles constantly blowing off the Sun. The solar wind may be viewed as an extension of the outer atmosphere of the Sun (the corona) into interplanetary space.
Components of the Solar Wind The solar wind contains roughly equal number of electrons and protons, along with a few heavier ions, and blows continously from the surface of the Sun at an average velocity of about 400 km/second. This is a remarkable velocity: particles in the solar wind from the Sun's surface travel at a speed that would allow them to go from Knoxville to Memphis in less than 2 seconds! This wind leads to a mass loss of more than 1 million tons of material per second, which may seem like a large number, but is insignificant relative to the total mass of the Sun.
So why this? This will keep up the player awareness for unexpected events trough out the solar system. This can cause that people to witdraw from a battle becouse there is a solar wind coming, or they want to let their ship getting destroyed during a 30 min - 1 hour solarwind strike. Solar wind wont take the whole but only a part of it where the solar wind particles will be blown ( just like a piece of a pizaa, middel its small but its spreading when it goes to the outer side
How, when is a solar wind coming to me and what can i do?
1st of all solar wind will be very random just like in real life earth has also got hit a couple times, it can happen in an hour or in an week. If your on a mission or a battle and there is a solar wind coming to you you'll get a waring popup just like the downtime popup and you have the amount of time given to leave ( depents on howfar you are from the sun ) if you are very close its maters of seconds very far away we talk about minutes. save spots are stations, pos and pieces where the solar wind wont come. Station are equipped with a solarwind deflector that make the station save from the solar wind. However a pos must also get a solar wind deflector as an item that can be found on the market but this deflector works on fuel like the rest of the pos so keep it fueled else the pos can be whiped out. just like the shield bubble it protects the pos from damage but the shield bubble cant do it becuase the shield bubble is only made for combat protection and not environments
black holes
http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=Y4ZDEdgtoDY&feature=related watch this ( 5 parts ) and you'll understand and it saves me some fingers because hell if i need type this all
Why black holes ?
Black holes the end and birth of a star. But they are also very...VERY dangerous. If you got stuck in his gravity field your doomed. I think that more people want them in eve, its because they are magnificent yet leathal things.
But what if you got stuck in side the black hole's gavity field? Well you would float around it and getting closer by the hour. There is no escape by your own, nothing works, not even warpdrive. Your ship is getting thorn appart if its getting closer to the center. Logging out wont help you neigther and communications will get disturbed also.
But what then? there must be something that can help me?
Yes there is. 1st of all, if you get to the black hole's gravity border you'll recieve also a popup how far you are. And if you pass it your ship leaves a beacon that emits a distress call to the corp you are on. They will recieve every 5 min a SOS from your beacon with the coordinates of your ship. Then there comes a new item in the scene, a grapple hook. The graple hook can last 300 km and is fitted with a stearing drone that you can sent to the downed ship. If the ship is attached to the hook you can pull it out the gravity field. But watch out, You can also get pulled in. So make shure you fly from the gravity border if you pull the ship towards you, Thats why afterburners are handy and acceleration upgrades
