Okay, since my query appears to have been nuked from the missile changes thread by an over-zealous forum n - a - z - i, I'll have to ask it in my own thread: Can anyone confirm whether or not they've fixed target painters to work for missiles now?

Yes.
On SISI the other night, using a Target Painter I (25% sig radius bonus) and Scourge Heavy missiles being launched from a Cerberus, I got damage of 28 versus an Ares going 559 m/s. Without the painter, damage was 22.4. The difference is exactly 25% (notice anything?). So, using a target painter in this scenario increased damage by the same value of the sig radius increase.
However, before people have a riot about target painters being the new "win" button for missiles, take note that this test was done the other day on an OLD version of the test server, and I didn't get the opportunity to test versus different ships or a MWDing ship.

not a win button
for turrets it increases effective tracking by sig penalty %, for missiles its a direct damage increase. since the mwd+painter bug is fixed, they can good and well quit the fsck'ing whining already. -------------

hopefully :\
Since I'll have to dig into my tank to make my Cerb actually do any damage with missiles, I think it sound pretty balanced. But, like I said, more testing needs to be done. The Devs remirrored SISI though and I'm waiting on my roles so I can get my hands on some painters and do a bit more messing around.
Also, once again, I'd like to appeal to the Devs about the condition of the Caldari HAC market at Fight Club Co... how are we supposed to test missile changes in the Cerberus missile boat when theres none available to us?

Mainly what needs to be tested is wether it affect damage to ships with sig larger than missile explosion. let me make an example:
You shoot missile with explosion radius x and explosion velocity y
target has sig radius (x) and velocity (>y)
does painting it, and thus making its radius (>x) allow you to get back the damage lost by velocity factor?
if yes, one thread of balance issues opens. if no, another thread.
sorry for threadjacking, btw -------------

Didn't I say use painters for missiles and tracking computers for guns?

erm why does a painter do impact on missile damage ? seems very strange

After the missile change, sig radius will affect missile damage, there are other factors too, but that one is a big one.

My copy righted raven setup after nerf...
sieges (ofc) sensorbooster, webber, 4x target painter II (+good painter skillz) ballistics
now the raven has a similar gank setup to other BS, all dmg, no tankage ;p ------------------ (_8(|) BEWARE. EBIL HOMER. IF SPOTTED CALL THIS NUMBER 0-800-I-C-HOMER |

Roleplay response: The increased signature radius of the target allows the missile's onboard guidance systems to get a more accurate picture of the target and to increase the pk for the missile.
