sounds like a good idea, make skill requirements mining 5, astro 5 and barge 5 perhaps multiple of these could be used basic -> elite (dependable on a skill) basic is lvl 1 elite lvl 5 more ore / cycle (like the mining drone operation skill) and a skill that allows you to use 1+ per lvl (like the mass production skill)
so that even the best miners 'll have something to train for ;) pretty yellow beams |

another good idea for advancing mining would be a T2 mining ship that can fit more lasers or a capital mining ship ^^ pretty yellow beams |

well your idea is solid, but cpp is going to add more reprocessing arrays in more stations so more systems'll be viable for mining, the anchoring idea is good but i wouldn't limit it to below .5 space tho. make it more like secure cans so that you won't see those babies in .9 and 1.0 space. and even 1 more hardpoint for a strip miner is a huge income more in ore / cycle, 8 would be very fun to have but 5 or 6 would mean already the double of income of a covy, not counting for the adv mining and adv barge skill increase in yeild then...

i like the ambidexerous idea a lot would mean it 'll open a lot more possibilities and one heck of a good skill to have :-D also the mining freighter isn't bad, but make it have 1M m¦ then cause 100m¦ is quickly obtained with 5 stripminers...
keep the good ideas coming perhaps ccp will notice our cry out for more mining equip then ^^ pretty yellow beams |

i don't agree, that's like saying that the dreadnaught should only be able to be used in low sec space, it should be used in all sec space. however it should be built to be able to endure low sec space, cause if it will be built like that it'll have more miners go to low sec space cause of the richer ore there and the larger roids pretty yellow beams |

personally i like the idea of the widespread beam and the link to hauler, those 2 comined would make mining more of a group thing as you can mine a lot in 1 cycle without the loss of time and have somewhere to deposit it requires teamplay, i'm all for it ^^ pretty yellow beams |

some mining changes in next patch, well changes...
adding of T2 mining drones, according to stats now on sisi they'll be not even better then harvesters :(

isn't it time we got mining upgrades just like the weapons have weapon upgrades or are expanded cargohold all that miners will have available to increase their mining potential?

even in the current circumstances, a miner can't make as much as a mission runner in the same time. i'm a miner/producer i mine what i need to produce it would be very good if i could mine less to get the same amounts. so better equip could be usefull as people don't tend to keep mining as it isn't profitable or boring, the ones who stick to it should be rewarded very good equipment and nice skills to make it easy after the long struggle.

Edited by: Menthal on 10/07/2005 15:29:12 as long as they don't screw miners over like with the T2 industrials, only more tank and less of the thing it was used for it'll be fine with me, in fact if they improve it in cargo hold, drone bay, armor and hardpoints 'll be rooting for'm very very hard ^^
edit: forgot to mention more mid/low slots would be very nice to have also, and a bit longer range 22km is next to nothing, hard to defend as drones can go 45km
