Vilket õr CCPs officiella stõllningstagande i sprÕkfrÕgan?

Ek dink dit sal n goeie idee wees as ons almal Engels praat.

translation of the above:
The reason why signatures should be in English is that its much easier to remove offensive signatures if the moderators can read what it actually says
In the next patch they will add Unicode support which enables the use of non english characters, which makes it easier to type in your preferred language. Tutorials are also available in several languages, so i dont think English is the only language supported in EVE.

(Replying in English, since unsure if you prefered Swedish)
Ofcource it is wise to use a common "main" language like English in general. But it's not about that. It's about you should not "ban" other laguages all together. What harm does it make if you have a forum tag with a few words in another language than English? It doesn't change the main message, that might have been written in English.
There are some games that have special language sections on their forums (EVE has "language" chats in game, thats nice). Maybe its time for EVE/CCP to do that also. I don't think English is anything to take for granted. I rather speak any other language that the speaker and the listner both understand. Sometimes it can be one person speaking one language and the other replying in another. If both parties speak the same language, there's no reason to speak a 3rd language. In my case I rather speak German with a Polish person, if he understands that better than English, than trying to make a not so successfull conversation in English.
Again: banning and removing chat and tags because they are not in English, is unrespectful and silly.

Sverige 4tw! ;)

The problem is Thidrek, that the forum mods speak english, if they can't understand what a post is saying then they can't moderate it, I don't speek Swedish, and for all I know and any mods know you could be advertising, hinting at links for illegal stuff, discussing game exploits and how to use them etc...
If there are forum mods that can speek a langauge and can moderate a specific forum for that langauge then there is no reason why you can't have it but in the mean time forum rules say everything should be in english.

There is a simple solution to that. get more mods. Mods who know other langages or the current mods could try to learn a new laungage. If you ask me yes English is becoming the universal language but I think we who speak just english are lazy and dont want to learn a new language. As for me im learning japanese.

First you have to realise that you have to keep in game and forums separate, there are no language restrictions that I'm aware of in game. You can already write in a lot of languages in game and with the Unicode addition there will be room for even more.
The forums however is English only. Mainly because we as moderators have to be able to understand your posts to do our jobs, and that will not change. I can tell you that about half the moderators are from English speaking countries and the other half is spread nicely over other European countries.
We do have plans to open language forums in the future though, starting with German and French ones, though so far I haven't found a single french moderator. If anyone who reads this happens to speak french, send me an email. It's a lovely unpaid position and you get a lot of crap from everyone, but we love it!
Locking this though, partly because only English is allowed and partly because any emails you recieve from the moderator team is between you and the moderators and you're not allowed to discuss it on the forums.
