I was thinking for piratehunt, I already got an osprey for mining.
I dont like the thorax so much so please dont say how good that ship is and so on, the question is bout the MOA or Maller!

Maller, hands down.
The maller can fit both more turrets and more weapon upgrades (gyros, etc) than the moa, and you don't need fancy EW stuff for NPC hunting, just raw firepower.

I fly the maller, being caldari the only thing I dont like about it is the special ability bonus for the maller as I use hybrid ammo.
The low slots are great I can fit 3 stabilizers, 1 power diag, and a couple of recharge rate mods (forget which).
Ultimately I want to try the thorax as this seems more suitable for my weapon of choice and will give me a damage bonus for my hybrids.
I would really take a look at all aspects of the ship and decide how they match up with your current or wanted skills.
+5% hybrid turret damage per level on the thorax would certainly boost my turret damage.
I like the idea of dishing out severe blows, quickly with a fast cap recharge rate.

well i will give u the stats on the 3 best cruisers. I tried to male it look betetr downstairs but i couldnt split em out thats why it looks like it is now, hope u can read anyway.

I have used the Rupture with good results.
Since my corp manufactures the missiles I need the cost of using those is dramaticly decresed making the Rupture a very good choice for hunting whatever U like.

Btw, the Rupture has stronger shields than the Thorax, but is weaker than the Maller. The 3 Missile HPs have come in quite handy on more than one occation.

For NPC pirate hunting I like Maller. I run 4 250mm prots 1 Dual 150 prot and a small smartbomb for missle defence. With this loadout I can still run a med shield booster and MWD as well as a single dmg mod.

For mining I'd recommend the thorax - 10 harvesters (with space left over) and 5 mining lasers :o

They're all good ships. They have their strengths and weaknesses, but pretty close to one another.
Having alot of turret hardpoints is all well and good, but keep in mind, actually using them all can be a trick. Mounting 5 heavy medium turrets would basiclly require using all, or most of your low slots for power diags or reactor control units. Course if you just wanna mine, the Thorax is the Pacman of Eve.
I'd just decide what it is you want your cruiser to do then find the one that comes closest to your needs. Nevermind whatever is popular, just eyeball the stats and see what will do what you want to do.

for npc killing... MALLER all the way.
Why?
Coz im a cheap skate who cant be assed manufacturing the bullets for any other weapons other than lasers. The Maller is perfectly suited to using lasers :)
