I was looking at the wiki (http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Cosmic_Anomaly) and saw that only certain anoms are listed to escalate to DEDs. Do some anoms then not have any chance of an expedition? What about the "named" versions of anoms, such as forlorn rally points? |

Anom escalations are indeed rare, and some do infact not escalate at all. I can't tell you exactly which anoms do and don't escalate (I scan/run the ded sites themselves), but you can be sure most anoms won't offer an escalation, or even a faction rat spawn. Some of the info on the wiki is secondhand. There probably isn't anyone that has gone and done all the types and forced an escalation from them, and if there is, they may not be the sharing type.
I did 50 dens as an experiment and got 5 faction rats, no escalations - so as a minimal effort I suspect I'd have to put in time and effort to do 200 of each type to see for sure. I'd rather go scan. Even if I did 200, I still may not have any real estimate for the actual escalation rate.
I imagine that from port upwards the information is a bit sounder because battleship spawning anoms are done regularly for bounty income by members of large organisations and would become large group knowledge. |

The spawn rate and mechanics are probably not known by people outside ccp, and the spawn rate may have hidden variables like system sec status and site difficulty level.
My personal experience with anomalies in hi-sec makes me believe the spawn rate is 1% or lower. If that really is that case doing 200 sites, only gives you around 85% chance of getting a escalation. Came to the forums looking for this type of information after runnin approx 40 sites (found all in 1 system) and seeing no exped or faction rat spawn.
Now I understand why nobody can be bothered to run them.

I got my den escalation on the 78th den, and amusingly last of the 28 dens that spawned up in the area I was using.

Anomalies in hi-sec are around the same diffculty as level 2 missions, and the reward should be close to that of level 2 missions. GÇ£The best way to keep something bad from happening is to see it ahead of time, and you can't see it if you refuse to face the possibility.GÇ¥ |

I must have been luckier at times. Hideaways gave me at least 3 3/10 escalations in about the amount of runs that you have run (I haven't counted nor compiled data).
That said, I estimate the chance of an escalation to a 3/10 is about 1/% Exploration is Random. Random is Random... or is it?! http://docs.python.org/2/library/random.html |

These days being an "explorer" in eve means you explore for a reason why you're doing it rather than farming high sec missions. |

Im considering to change back to my former Locust live. Having a fixed region was good until December, but since then the anos and sigs are like 20-30% of before (feels like this). The loot is not even worth it, or more precisely too rare to rely on it as an income source.
Looks like it is time again to not let anything rot and get the absolute maximum out of everrything. So instead of having a t3 and a HAC on second toon and roam specific systems for sites, while acting with a station in its center you can call "home", i will again use my Orca as HiSec carrier, screw the t3 for a t2 scanning frig and specialize the orca toon on tractor and salvage, while doing quick kills with a HAC on scanning toon.
Or settle down in lowsec because there drops now, what before dropped in hisec.
Nullsec is not worth it atm. Heavy pirate activity with lots of gate camps. Not that it is very dangerous, they still mostly have cheap frigs, but it is very time consuming to get out of the bubbles in nearly every second system - at least in my region. Also have had some site-sitters lately again. They sit in sites waiting especially for you to come in and then attack you while you are already in battle.
I love the new grade of difficulty, but without stable income it starts to become boring. At least i love action, but not to search for hours to find some action, which is the at the end not rewarded by a fair amount. Most sites cost me more on ammo than i gain back on loot and bounty.
Time to take a break from Eve i guess :) At least Elder Scrolls Online has open beta now :) maybe cu there? |
