I like the new voice myself but I think it needs more volume.

I don't like it at all.
The old one was better, a stronger female voice. ------------------------------------------------ "for piece sakes!" |

I want the option for other voices. That would be stored on my side so wouldn't stress the servers at all.
How about a sexy female voice saying, "Oh baby, your warp drive is active"
And something sexy for the female players. Maybe a George Clooney sounding guy saying "Let me take you away and jump you". Would be more interesting then "Approaching jump gate" now wouldn't it?

i only had a brief "listen" to the new voice, so far i think i prefer the old one compared to the new one in the state i heard it (patch version 3502), because for me the more "computerized" style of the old voice is more appealing and blends in better with the rest of the sound. of course ccps resident sound magician might still be busy "computerifying" the voice messages. if it is the final voice and it is at all possible to allow us to choose between the two that would be a very good thing of course.

Edited by: MOS DEF on 29/06/2005 12:12:22 I thought a dev stated it's not final and more or less a placeholder. If it'shee to stay i'll go nuts. It's sucks so bad it ain't funny. Everytime i hear that voice on SiSi i think STFU! Edit: No offense meant to the voice actor but it just doesn't fit in eve at all.

Whilst as voices go, the new voice is ok, Im kind of nostalgic about the old one, its helped me through a lot of rough times, and been there for me when I needed her most
("Warp Drive Active" that soothing sound when alarms are bleeping in 12 different places, your armor is spread around your ship 500 metres away, and your structure resembles an old persons skeleton.)

So, does anyone else think the new voice sounds like Hilly, the female computer from Red Dwarf...?

I dislike it intensely, it reminds me of Mary Poppins. (\_/) (O.o) (> <) "That's no ordinary rabbit!...that's the most foul, cruel and bad-tempered rodent you ever set eyes on" |

This is me not putting my hands up.
I actually don't like the voice at all. I think I understand the reasoning behind putting a human voice in, but I think it's out of place, when considering the overall style of EVE. The synthesized voice sounded sterile and emotionless, which was (in my opinion) perfect.

As I have to play with the sound off I make my gf sit next to me and do all the sounds with a bucket on her head for that "Vader" sound.
I know, I know, i'm just an old romantic fool but what can you do.

I know this has been suggested before a pirate voice would be hilarious.

I think the voice they have on SiSi at the moment is horrible (assuming it's still the very English one), I mean I am English but I don't want to hear 'BLOODEH WARP DROIVE ACTOIVE, GUVNAH!' all the time _________________

I really want an option to turn off engine and warp sounds. Space should be silent and the only thing you should hear is when stuff hits that tin can you're flying.
It destroys an otherwise nearly perfect illusion of being in space. So much so that I fly with the sound off all the time.

Trying to be over realistic is lame. But in this case, you are wrong anyways.
It is an offical EVE story thing that any sound you hear in EVE is generated by your ships computer to give you, the pilot, a better sense of your surroundings.

WEAK.
"Let's add in space whooshy sounds while in warp and gun firing sounds like a child's toy..."
I don't buy it anymore than I do when I see a Star Trek movie.
