Got bored while mining so I made this little ore per 180s calculator for mining barges:

Gives max mining yield for each mining barge/exhumer for your current skills. (Even if you cant fly exhumers, I'm too lazy to fix that).
Just make a little text file like this:
Tech-Level of Strip Miners: 2
Tech-Level of Mining Crystals: 2
Mining Barge Skill-Level: 5
Exhumer Skill-Level: 2
Astrogeology Skill-level: 5
Or if you're lazy just type 2 2 5 2 5. should work too. Just make sure to give the numbers in this order.
Then simply run orecalculator.jar and give the correct location of the text file (ex. /Users/Max/Desktop/Stats.txt) when it asks you to and it should give you the results.
Maybe I'll add mining drones yield if you like it. (although I'm sure 3 trillion people have made this before I did).
And maybe I'll change it so you can write the numbers into the program instead of making you write a text file. Can't remember why I did that. Or maybe I'll make it as simple as giving an API.  |

And this is once again a total myth.
Ore Miners are NEVER AFK. Especially not in high sec as the rocks contain less ore so need more retargetting.
The best you might get away with is dashing to the fridge for a beer. Since you have to be around at least every 60 seconds since you typically have your lasers staggered to ease capacitor strain. And that is assuming you have no boosts at all.
TLDR
Ice Miners can AFK.
Ore Miners can NOT. |

Oh so this is what he's whining about?
Look, strip miners have 180 second cycles. I'm not going to stare at my screen until one of my asteroids runs dry. I get a nice "The asteroid is depleted" notification when that happens. I guess you saw "I got bored while mining so I did this" and assumed I drove 50km to another computer to write a tiny program. Well, I'm using Mac OS Lion, which allows me to switch between screens with a fluent 3-fingers whipe. I'm almost never fully AFK. Really, what is the difference between opening your market window or writing a few lines of code while mining? Think 2 secs before puking all your blind hatred over my post. |
