What is so horrible about that? If you started EVE for the first time the day of the patch you would not give the slow security status gains a SECOND THOUGHT. It is *ONLY* because you have had it so easy for so long that it's such a traumatic incident for you.
Instead of thinking how much harder it will be for you, weigh it with an open mind and REALLY think about it from all types of peoples points of veiw and decide if it is balanced or not. No bias, just careful judgement.
What this all boils down to, if its as the patch drama carebears claim it will be, is that having a negative security status will mean something. It will mean you you are a hardcore dedicated pirate. You have measured the risks and have deicded you are a .4 and lower type of guy. ALL you are losing is the ability to enter .5 and above. Is that so bad? Esp as the real focus of EVE is beginning to take place OUTSIDE of empire.
Seriously, is living in .4 through .0 as a pvper such a horrbile punishment for wanting to have fun in .4 - .1? If you have a problem with having a low SS, you have 4 days to fix it. Sure, it is not much time but if you have decided .4 through 0.0 is to much for you, then work your SS up and quit whining.
Finally, having a negative SS will begin to be a sign of TRUE pvpers. The kind that dont give &&&% what people think. The kind that put it all on the line and dont take anything from anyone. The kind that are skilled, dedicated, and really know their game.
Please remember that anyone is free to do as much pvping in 0.0 as they desire... its not like CCP just took away your ability to pvp...
Ah... this reminds me of the old Ultima Online days.... yes... back when being RED (low security status)MEANT something. Back when if you saw a red and you were with 4 of your buddies, you better run. Back when reds were feared and respected.
This is the perfect patch.
I gotta agree with you here, it's true. But on the other hand, i want to be able to replace ships, and move between low sec regions every once in awhile. Soon, instas will probably be gone, then it won't be possible to just insta your pod through high sec. It's one thing to be stuck as an outlaw, and another to be stuck as an outlaw and stuck within a certain few systems.
With people also the market will move, so ships and modules will move into low sec with the customers simply as that...
And low sec pirates will be able to belt pirate as they have done before, I know that I got to look twice over my shoulder now when I enter low sec to mine and hey ... will be fun.
