I started playing EVE a week ago or so, and I'm currently doing lvl 1 security missions (level 2 was WAAAAAY too tough).
Now - These lvl 1 missions tend to repeat themselves (a lot), so I have to kill my fair share of radio telescopes. These things have godly amount of shield, armor and structure. So I am wondering what I am doing wrong. I can't imagine EVE being designed to sit afk for half an hour, only tabbing back to reload, while shooting at these telescopes, so I must be missing something.
I am currently using the Gallante destroyer, I have 4x 150mm Railgun I, with Antimatter ammo (these seem to do the most damage). I sit at the "Optimal Range" stated in info when the ammo i loaded. It still takes 30+ minutes to kill these things. Not only that, but it's costing me more in antimatter ammo than I get as a reward.
So - What am I missing? How should I go about destroying these thing?
Thanks :)

Guys, seriously - I have to kill them.
I have the mission details thing open all the time, and it only "completes" when I kill those things. They have bounty 0.00 isk on them too.

Oh, and my only objective is
Kill Objective Location: Oursulaert
Nothing more.
The description in itself says to destroy the listening post blabla because they can't do it officially.
PS: Since my last post, I now destroyed the telescope and as I thought, the mission details re-opened/updated itself and it's now complete.

Desperate Measures Mission briefing Recent reports from the Federal Intelligence Office give us reason to believe that the UDI terrorist organization has begun setting up outposts in the names of front corporations at deadspace forward points within our sovereign space, with the intention of spying on Gallente corporations. I've just gotten word that there's one such suspected outpost in this system. The problem is that we cannot be fully sure whether the outpost in question is indeed a UDI hive. Obviously this means we can't go in flying our own banner, so non-contracted free agents such as yourself will be of paramount importance in the staging of preliminary operations. True, it is a harsh risk to take, attacking installations that haven't been absolutely proven to be hostile, but the UDI simply present too much of a threat for us to have the luxury of dilly-dallying. Should you choose to accept this mission, I will upload this outpost's coordinates to your Neocom. Your primary target will be a subspace data miner thought to have been picking up on our communications frequencies. Once it is destroyed, report back to us and we will send in another team for the next stage of the operation. You will probably encounter some mercenary resistance in the area. Orders are to kill on sight, and refrain from any and all communication that may uncover your involvement with us. Should you be captured, we will disavow any knowledge of your actions. This mission expires at 2005.07.03 15:01:27 Overview and Objectives The following objectives must be completed to finish the mission: Kill Objective : Objective completed. This deadspace objective has been completed LocationOursulaert Rewards The following rewards and bonuses will be yours if you complete this mission: 43000 credits. one unit of Atron will be awarded to you as a bonus if you complete the mission before 2005.07.02 17:21. 51 Loyalty Points.

So I guess there isn't something I'm missing then, and I'm stuck with blasting at them for half an hour :(

Hmm...
Are there any good sites with good setups for the various ships? Like a collection of setups.
