As the game is right now alot of people avoid PVP couse of the major cost that comes with it if they lose.
They rather stay in empire space couse of the high risk of losing there ships, and needing a few months/weeks to recover there loses.
How about the following idee's.
Decrease mineral building need by 50%. Decrease insurance cost by 50% And ofcourse insurance payout by 50%
This way it will become easyer to suply ships, easyer to replacy them and give alot of people more curage in losing ships and therefor participate in PvP/FvF (fleet vs fleet).
Flame away.

You mean the reason alot of people fly in gang squads, couse of the fear flying solo?
If been living on the edges of empire for quiet some time now, and the "real pvpers" i met where allways 5+ and when the odds are 1 vs 1 or 2 vs 2 they stay docked untill the rest of the overwelming squad arives.
Not that iam trying to flame on the use of gangs/squads or fleets overall. But even the pvpers in general dont fight even numbers couse the losses have to great of impact on the gameplay.
The reason i posted the idee is not only for the replacing of ships but mainly for the side effect of it. People wont morn to mutch about loses if its cheaper then it is now and it will increase traffic/exploration/fighting and alot more.
Personaly i think it will have a good/big impact on the gameplay experience of alot of players, as even those that dont play 3+ years are able to deal with the losses the have.
Nothing worst for a new player when gething shot up and needing a few months to recover for there losses. The changes are high he will never return of stay in empire.

How about we just ditch the mining system and keep the minerals?
If people just have to keep a factory running so someone else can keep a mining installation intact so someone else can keep ship polishing station churning along then we can all manage the poor unemployed multitudes of non-pod-pilots crowding the stations and cargo holds all over the universe.
I think people will consider a lot of things more expendable. You can still hurt another player a lot because his stuff never logs off. Pseudo-masochists will never agree to this. They only appreciate others being able to lose their stuff.. but only so long as they can safespot and log off.
Most people are cowards. This is human nature.

Dishing the mining system would mean alot of people who do like it get "unemployed". That would be a negative effect.
Negative could also be that mineral prices would drop couse only 50% would be needed to build the ships. However i think that wont be the case (not 50% that is) becouse people will be losing more ships as they fight/explore/try more. So demand of ships would increase.
So overall things still would stay in balance...

For Starters the mineral requirement is nothing for tech 1 ships. Of course its alot higher For Battlehships etc.. but then isn't that understandable ?
The Reason PvP is so Thrilling is because there always the chance that you are going to lose your hard earned investment, We'll call it FEAR. Without the Fear The PvP element of the game would be very boring. Decrease insurance cost ? Eh ? whats wrong with it at the moment ? on average it costs 30 mill to insure a teir 2 Battleship for a payout of around 105 to 110 million. If you dont like that cost dont pay it. Battleships are for wealthy people if you cant afford the insurance liklihood is that its probably one of yyour First battleships and therefore your going to lose it becuase you havn't got the skills to use it properly. So Basically what you want Is Ships cheaper the insurance cheaper then insurance payout over the cost of the ship value ? Seems like an insurance Scam to me!

i vote NO
high death penalty is what makes pvp in this game great, this is what makes this agme great.
this is what no other company in the world had the balls to implement a pvp system where death matters.
since in eve death matters, you dont see people chainnuking themselves around station, in a big neverending firework party.
since death matters people are more cautious. and since death matters if your corp beat the crap out of the other corp you kind of win.
once you remove all death penalty you can never win the winner is the one who will stay the longer online... dies, clone, get a ship, fit, insure get into the fray. dies ,clones get a ship fit, insure and so on.......
okay when they died 15 time in a row they are broke they gather isk for 2 days and start again.... you really want this play counter strike it is neverending pvp cost absolutely nothing. i can play CS if i want when i play eve i want to play something different dont turn my eve into space CS.
i am more of the opinion of maxime, prevent people from loging off to avoid fighting, nothing is more lame in this game than people logging of while you get a lock and the target suddenly disappearing.
besides pvp does not cost that much and if people hunbt in gang that is good teamplay from my point of view. i suggest people try teamplay more before we ease the isk strain of pvp on solo players. there are things to do to make sure your loss will not be too bad should you lose an engagement, of course mining for 2 month get its first battleship insure it and go for pvp in one's first brandnew battleship with no skills no experience and 55 isk left on your account is the best way to get broke and back to square one in no time.
fortunately 99.5 percent of players are wiser than that and keep some way to make income at hand so that they are not utterly broke if they lose in a skirmish.

Vote: NO.
There is no permadeath or other real drawback when dying. The cost is the only thing that keeps the PKs and PvP at bay. How would you be victorious against a corp if every one has 100 BS in reserve? And to increase the insurance payout would totally imbalance and ruin the game. People would start making money by killing themselves... no way. And there is reason why many people avoid PvP. That reason is a very realistic one: reason. Right now I have to decide whether to combat or not, a very important tactical element. Why not give the ships out for free? Then everyone can PvP as long as he likes... but it would be no fun and it would make no sense anymore.

As stated above payout down by 50% not increased. Equal to the cost of ships.
To be honest the reason i posted the idee is not to have everyone 100 BS's on stock, if they would they now would have 50 on stock so have the same result. So that awnser is kind of out of context.
The reason is to make it more attractive for others to go into 0.4 to 0.0 and explore the world. Find new objectives instead of stying in Empire doing lvl 4's and mining till they quit the game.
Alot of people i spoke with dont visit the down systems simply becouse they find the pvp to mutch expensive to recover from.
The only persons i see arround are those that allready play for years, those that dont get shot and never return.
But back to the NO Vote, you have any other idee's to increase the activity to less secure space? Couse tbh i dont think the new 30 connection points with the new patch going to be all that great, couse there are anough vet. corporations that will nicely take there spot at the entrance.

Activity in less secure space is fine. The Kahnid region and Aridia are bustling full of life.
Its busier in empire for 1 reason only. COMMERCE, its where everything is bought and sold.
And in all honesty I have 2 Battleships, I dont have a steady supply of ships nor do I have much cash, yet the only thing I do in the Game is PvP ! The thought of losing a tech II fitted BS is scary hence why Im so careful. If the Ships cost 50% less Im not gonna be any more encouraged to "stock up" nor will I be encouraged to PvP any more or any less.
So the answer to the Question from me is NO |

All right, I misread but then you would hurt mostly the new players loosing ships to NPCs and not having expensive equipment on...
Quote: To be honest the reason i posted the idee is not to have everyone 100 BS's on stock, if they would they now would have 50 on stock so have the same result. So that awnser is kind of out of context.
No, not out of context and it was the way it goes. There is no point in making it cheaper... the same way miners might argue to make the materials more expensive so they get more money out of it. No, it must be balanced and that is not done by reducing cost where it might be disturbing to some people.
Quote: The reason is to make it more attractive for others to go into 0.4 to 0.0 and explore the world.
It would not have that effect. People go there if they can afford it, one way or the other. It would only encourage the careless people not to think anymore about loosing ships. Loosing ships and equipment has to be a severe impact, because that is the ONLY reason why you do not constantly have all players around you trying to kill you.
Quote: Find new objectives instead of stying in Empire doing lvl 4's and mining till they quit the game.
WHO does so? WHY do you want to tell people where they should find fun? Everyone has the choice to do as he wants. I see no reason to change the price of ships because some people love to mine in empire space rather than to be killed in 0.0 space. Let them be? What is the point?
Quote: Alot of people i spoke with dont visit the down systems simply becouse they find the pvp to mutch expensive to recover from.
ROFL. That is LIFE. A lot of people do not mine because they think it is boring, yes and a lot of people do not use tech II because it is too expensive, yes. that is the way! If you want to do all people do everything you may give ships and equipment for free... just... what then is the thrill? Not everyone plays your style, remember that.
Quote: The only persons i see arround are those that allready play for years, those that dont get shot and never return.
You only see them there because it is dangerous. That is what it is about. That is WHY there is such as a security rating! nOObs get killed. If they cannot afford it they stay out... what is the point? If you reduce the price, more noobs you can slaughter come in for you to kill? *sigh*
Quote: But back to the NO Vote, you have any other idee's to increase the activity to less secure space?
WHY do you want to increase activity? There are systems in which there are 40 BS at a time... go there for activity. I cannot understand the problem.... really not.
Quote: Couse tbh i dont think the new 30 connection points with the new patch going to be all that great, couse there are anough vet. corporations that will nicely take there spot at the entrance.
That is more to the point. If there is not much activity, make the area safge with your corp but do not complain about ship prices. :)
