Are the new values for asteroid depletion/ore amounts intended or a bug?
I'd like to hear someone official actually answer this. I've seen too many complete depleted roid fields today already....

ok, this is what i heard in beta, so i assume its still going on now:
after the asteroids respawn, they are not instantly filled to the brim with ore, it regenerates slowly. if you mine a roid just after server up, it will last about 5 seconds, because its ore hasnt regenerated yet.
the easiest thing to do is mine out 1 specific belt of all the good minerals, then head to the next on the list, etc. so by the time you have emptied them all, the roids in the 1st belt should be ready to harvest again.
unless you're a large mining corp, in which case you should mine out system - by - system with the same method. Ceo Aquitaine Space Conglomerate |

yeah I read that post too -
I am inclined to think that it's more RP spin than feature since a>it wasnt't in the patch notes b>none of the bist i've surveyed has changed over the last 3 days c>the only official word i've seen anywhere is your 2nd hand account of a lame answer from a GM (not a dev)
and the GMs are frequently wrong about most everything
I don't mean to make light of your response Dream - I'm just asking for a dev response like everyone else to this change and not hearing any reply
and Havok - you're correct but this is a totally different feature introduced with the lastest patch

i think the respawn as it is now is good, it should force you to go elsewhere to mine, but i will agree its a pain, not being able to find roids with anything worthwhile in.

And the newbies are supposed to do what? I don't think you can find veldepsar closer than 5 jumps from newbie systems.

oh no!! as all the other nerf's werent good enough for the carebears (you didnt nerf this as much as we wanted...boohoo), now they want unlimited roids with unlimited ore for umlimited minerals.....tsk tsk tsk.....
Maybe you all should consider this...go and look somewhere else for your ore? Why oh why do you think that all the belts in all the 1.0 systems should keep filling up to the brim just for you? I personally appluad this nerf, make all you carebears venture out into the big wide cosmos and actually start working for you lovely ores and minerals.
You never know, you might actually enjoy travelling the systems. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> The Inquisition Long live the Inquisition Long live the Emperor Long live Amarr!

I'm sure that the current bistot / crokite respawn amounts are given in a bug and are not intended to have been that way by CCP.

The roid spawn has to be a bug. I've been looking for jaspet around, and I can't find ANY roids with more than 23 ore in them. Now this is in a popular jaspet mining spot in empire space, so there's no old jaspet roids left. I scanned more than 10 roids... all less than 23 ore in them.
I went to a place where I knew bistot would spawn, but I mined around 6 roids and got 35 bistot out of it. (I was dumb and didn't scan them first. I figured since they were brand new they'd have lots in them.)
This is all in the last two days (after latest patch).
So... let's just say if it's not a bug, it's really stupid. And if they want us to grow and nurture roids out in the goonies to bring them to maturity then mine them, they are out of their minds. I'm not asking for unlimited ore in roids, I'm asking for more than pitiful amounts of ore. 2-23 units of ore in all newly spawned roids will destroy miner's profits. And I have seen ZERO evidence that they "grow" to have more than than 2-23 units of ore in them.
FIX IT :-)

23:57 <Athan|BIG-C`> Pann: any *official* word on what's up with these roids spawning with 10 or less ore in them ? 23:58 <@Pann> Athan, this will sound like a total cop-out, so I apologize in advance, but all I can tell you is that a) we are aware of it and b) LeKjart is sick and until he's back, there's not much chance of anyone touching that. 00:01 <Athan|BIG-C`> Pann: ah, but this means it's not intentional, right ? 00:01 <@Pann> No, it's not. You need to learn the Tao of Pooh or something hehe 00:01 <Athan|BIG-C`> right, so we just need to sit tight and wait for a fix, good :) --
