If i use window mode I can't see the clock at the bottom of the screen. This is a must. ================================================

Same, alt tab is crashing me frequently... along with a couple corp mates.

Solution: Drag up the window until you can see the clock. I use windowed mode and I can see the clock just fine. -- Dark Shikari: POS Consultant!

I tryed that. In windowed mode it simply does not show that bottom edge of the graphics. I played for 2 months without even knowing it was there. I spent all my time calculating time differences and wondering what clock every one in corp was talking about ================================================

Well I only ever run EVE in windowed mode, but you need to make sure that if you do so, EVE is set to a lower resolution than your desktop, else you will not be able to see the bottom.
My desktop is 1600x1200, so my graphics settings are windowed, 1280x1024.
I assure you it works perfectly well.

Sorry Moderator,
But your so wrong this IS a bug, a great big client/graphics bug.
We don't want a work around, we want a solution!
Anybody can run it in a window and yes you have a point that you can lower the eve graphics but why the feck would we want to do that?
We want it full screen and alt-tab able so we can take screen shots as we did before.
Wounld doing a re-install with the new client (512Mb) sort it out?
Sorry for ranting :)

And I assure you it's a client code bug, it worked before patch, now it doesn't. It's even happened while in windowed mode (when we tried using ALT-ENTER to switch to windowed, than do whatever, then full screen again and crash).
It is a bug.

Had the same problem. Before patch fine - after patch EVE stopped responding after ALT-TAB to desktop.
Changed drivers (again!)and 77.72 works fine in that department. (Windows ME nvidia driver)
Ofcourse there are other issues, but drivers dont seem to help.. (posted on that in another thread about lags)

I am having exactly the same problem, I have reported that to the Tech support, maybe they will be able to find the reason for it. And yes, it is a bug, since I have never had such problems before the bug.
As for the proposed solution with windowed mode, this is not acceptable because FPS is too much lower in windowed mode, and two running EVE clients in window mode slow down the machine completely (whereas in fullscreen everything is OK).

This is very funny - but before the patch my eve client would crash 2 or 3 time a night when I would alt-tab, now after the patch I have not crashed even once while alt-tab'ing. So, it's an issue but apparently not a consistent one for everyone.

I have the same problem.
I have other problems in windowed mode, the workaround to which is to run in full-screen. I can't work around this as well.

Pretty much same problem - EVE used to alt-tab just fine pre-patch. Now post patch the alt-tab is 'broken', and almost always crashes the game. Trying to alt-tab back to EVE doesn't even bring the game back up successfully, it's a complete graphics hang with the desktop still showing.
Windowed mode is fine for awhile, but unstable. It too tends to crash occasionally whether in or out of focus as the active window.
Only workaround, which isn't one really at all, is to run logserver. You get one crash, start running log server. At some point, you WILL crash in the middile of combat, lose an expensive ship, and really regret not having any proof to shove in the GMs face about the client crashing & it not being your fault.

I've had one crash since patch.
I have also seen the 'hang' when you try and return to EVE after an Alt-Tab. I was able to get back into the game (in full mode) by hitting Alt-Enter when it seemed like the desktop was hung.
Not a solution, but it will help SOME of those that think they are stuck and think they have to reboot when they can actually recover with an Alt-Enter

Same problem for me. Alt-Tab out of full screen and the cursor dissapears and desk top freezes... Only since the nerf, oops I meant patch, has this happened.

Yes CCP, same behaviour as this for me. I would add that the Eve client is still running but unresponsive. and whilst the cursor is not visible on the desktop, or inside other applicaiton windows, you can locate when over the Windows taskbar, and right click and close Eve from there, at which point other running apps are accessible just fine.
It feels like Eve is correctly being given focus then you alt-tab back in, but the screen/directx window/whatever is not being redrawn - hence you can still see the window of the app you alt-tabbed out of, but it is just an image of that app caught in the Eve client window.
The behaviour is not consistant however, sometimes i can alt-tab to desktop and back again just fine. It seems to be a problem when i alt-tab while warping, but thats an untested supposition. I will try testing that more on next log in.

I have a similar issue, but I run my system in Dual-Screen mode so that I can browse the web, see teamspeak, etc on the 2nd monitor while I have EVE running full-screen on primary monitor. Pre-Patch I had no issues. Now, whenever I click on a window on my second monitor, the game minimizes and freezes. Geting annoying...

Thanks a lot - Alt+Enter works fine for me, now it crashes about 2-3 times less often but still does sometimes.

Edited by: Deckma on 08/07/2005 11:57:29 I too also have this alt-tab problem. For awhile I thought it was just me.
I'll try some of these work arounds in the mean time.

LOL, same here.
Client used to crash all the time when I Alt+Tab out in Full Screen Mode
Now I can do it without issue

Thing is I run at 1280x1024 when in full screen mode and i have enough "desktop space" in game to position my windows, as soon as i go windowed mode at that res it crawls, so i have to drop it to 1024x768 which then cramps everything. Pre patch the alt-tab or clicking off onto the second monitor wasnt perfect and would silently CTD every 5 - 15 times of doing it, but since patch its doing it every 2 times. I even had issues when I was running in windowed mode at work and minimised it to the bar at the bottom, but these were resolved by a complete reinstall.
