Is anyone else confused by this stuff? Has anyone found any kind of helpfile or support for building outposts. The only thing I have to go on is the dev blog and that is vague as well.
I need to build an outpost with a reprocessing module.. which race platform if any do I need to use? None of the 'show info' say anything helpful.

i think in one of the 'Sneak Peeks' dev blogs, it was mentioned that the minmatar outpost had reprocessing, the caldari had lab slots, the amarr had factory, but i'm not sure what the gallente had. also, not sure what other services you can add onto these outposts.

On the market if u go into materials u can find all the pieces that can be put on a outpost, like ship maintaince arrays, labs etc. but I think some outposts come with one part built in depending on the race. Thats just how i think it works, anyone of anyone whos started makin 1 yet?

too my knowledge you can't make one yet.
reason.. you need freighters to make the support chassis and deploy the components before you can move it to a location and fill it with minerals.
and the components each takes at least 100.000m^3 so it wont be possible in a indy.
so I'd guess it would be at least the training time of adv. spaceship command lvl5 and freighter lvl1 until anybody "starts" building one, and actually getting the freighter :) ______________ Only in the Tales that humans tell, do the hunters kill the wolf in the end. |

It's advanced spaceship command 1 for freighter. I could fly one today if I had one.

will take 2.5 weeks before the first freighters are ready since they have a 15 day production time

assuming someone bought the BPO already....
Problem is 2 billion for a BPO which is readily available on market is hardly a ROI, because you can not know if you are only a few or a whole bunch buying the same BPO... without knowing the mineral cost of a freighter its hard to judge potential return on BPC sale...
and ultimatly its a high skill req ship... meaning the market for it is limited ... again an element to be taken into account before paying the 2 B for the BPO...
Not saying no one will do it... but I wouldnt... there are much more controllable investments to be made in eve with 2B

Edited by: Isis66 on 06/07/2005 11:52:31 The Freighter is already in the works.
I see alot of "I think" and "In my opinion" but before I drop 10 bil on Blueprints and construction parts I think I need something a little more written in stone.
In the sneak peak it does NOT say anything about reprocessing being on the minmitar outpost. It says "services", thats all.
I already have 2 orders for Gallente Freighters after I make my own. We figure around 750 Mil per, but am still working on the numbers.
Hey CCP, how bout a Outpos Construction help file like you have for POSs?

Gallente freighters is most likely the most promising as many gallente trained inty 5 for obvious reasons.... not the same for other races...

Edited by: Kipkruide on 06/07/2005 13:43:17 Yup i can fly it in 3 hours where i to train for it and it has the second biggest cargo so it's pretty sweet.
with mineral prices prob on the rise due to higher low end demand the mineral price of a freighter should be around 750-1 billion i think. so the dirts few will prob be sold at about the prices that faction ships demand i'd guess.

I like the Gallante. You'll have refine capability at the pos's, and then make up the loss by selling at outrageous prices.

The item database has been updated. You can find out the base mineral requirements for all of the capital ship components now.
Gallente Freighter Costs: (mutiplying out all of the component costs at ME 0) Tritanium 112077704 Pyerite 14900641 Mexallon 5548972 Isogen 805513 Nocxium 237582 Zydrine 37279 Megacyte 13406
Caldari Freighter Costs: (mutiplying out all of the component costs at ME 0) Tritanium 122081711 Pyerite 14977773 Mexallon 5521496 Isogen 796028 Nocxium 233664 Zydrine 36497 Megacyte 12479
I have not been able to find the outpost entry in the item database tho.

from reading various posts/blogs on the site i believe the system to setup an outpost is as follows:
1.Purchase outpost platform bpo 2.Buy/make the station components (10k m3 each) 3.construct platform (possibly find out mineral requirements at this point) 4.haul constructed platform to desired location (must be in freighter) 5.deploy platform (if no mineral reqs are available at step 3, then probly find out here) 6.provide minerals 7.build outpost
This is just a rough guess as to the steps to make one and i could probly be wrong on some/most of it. At any rate i believe you'll need a freighter to move the platform when it's built. It's probly 100k m3 in volume.

minnie outpost reqs
Your best bet is to buy all the components in one station if you can, move your bpo or bpc to that station and construct the outpost platform there. The components take up something like 27 million m3 so don't move them if you don't have to. Then you drag the outpost platform down to where you want it in a freighter (750,000 m3) and anchor it in space I guess. Then the easy part is getting the materials into it so it becomes operational. The dev blog was misleading, buying the components will set you back 16-17 billion isk while minerals and materials are only about 4 billion.

O.K, a few questions here.
1) Is it only 0.0 systems that you can build Outposts in?
2) If an npc faction has soverignity but nostations, can the system be claimed?

With those kind of mineral requirements, I assume you can use a freighter to dump them all onto the construction platform? Hauling 300-400 mil worth of tritanium doesnt sound fun otherwise.

Pretty amusing empire trade goods amounts that need to be delivered as well. Good thing they are bottomless wells.
156,000 construction blocks is gonna be a trip to deliver to the platform.
etc.
