The first time I warped away I burst into laughter at the sound of the new voice. About 1 minute later I was already tired of the new "**** voice". I really miss the old robotic voice, it was a lot less depressing than this new one. I asked in the Help channel if I can change it somehow and I was told by a volunteer that I cannot.
CCP please give us the option to use the old voice again. This new one makes me feel like I fly a Badger II constantly - it takes 10 seconds to say "Warp drive active"... I drive fast ships because I hate to be slow.
I know you can lower the voice's volume, but I rely on acustic cues when playing (i.e. using Autopilot to jump into the next system and disabling it right away), so I would still like to have a voice, but not the current one. I belive they didn't get rid of the old WAVs, so letting us chose between the old, robotic voice and the new one shouldn't be too hard (even if it happens as a optional patch to change the voices).

I agree.
Too dark and foreboding.

The new voice is pretty annoying. It's loud and slow, often overlapping if you do 2 different things back to back like autopilot then warp or jump.
Old voice was much, much better. I would love a way to put it back.

I don't know personaly find the new voice kinda misterious and sexy but maybe that is my speakers.... Guess they could put a check mark for those who like metalic voices..... Bunny Jumper CO C.E.O. Celestial Horizon Corp. |

Well on the off chance they might put the old voices back, I'll put in that request as well. I've seen the same commented sprinkled throughout other posts so I am sure they have gotten 'wind' of it.

If you don't like the voice you can turn it down or turn it off, there are volume controls for it in the Esc audio menu.

Zhuge Liang, like I said pretty clearly on my first post, I know I can do that, but I rely on audio cues as well as visual. That voice tells me when to disable the Autopilot right after I jumped, so I don't end up warping on autopilot on the other side of the gate.

This is a concern of taste and opinion alone if you ask me. Lots of us like the new voice. She does speak a tad slow and when multiple things are happening ("Autopilot disabled. Warp drive active") for example, they bump up against each other.
I can't argue with these guys wanting the option to have either voice though.

That is like saying if you don't like the graphics, don't look at them... They are part of the game, a GOOD part of the game.
I'm just giving feedback and adding to what other people have said. We liked the old voices. I like the NEW ship skins and a lot of other changes. So don't get me (us) wrong, we are not all whiners, we are just calling it as we see it.
If others like the new voices speak up, obviously someone at CCP thought they were better, better enough to change them.
If they were simply .wav (or other common format) I'd stick back the old ones, provided that did not trigger an auto-update to replace them every time.

Ideally a customizable ships computer, so we can choose our own preference

Let me add my voice to those who much prefer the old voice. The new one is too slow, too soft, and sometimes hard to understand over the noises of combat.

I have to agree... I don't like the new voice at all. :( An option to have the old voice back would be mighty nice.
As this is just a client change, not a gameplay issue, I don't see any harm in allowing options, just like we have for window color and everything else.

My 2 isk... I think the option should be given in the software to use one or the other. The new voice is darker... but then again.. these are the times of the cold war.. are things not suppose to be gloomy and dark?
My preferance.. the old voice.. but I guess I can live with the new one

I too would much rather have the old voice back. Or at least the option to choose which voice I want to hear. I had turn the voice off now cause it depressed me too much, but I was relying on that audio cue...
Cool signature coming soon. |

Yesssssss! I would prefer an Option to select Voices. .wav would be perfect. Players could contribute new voices then...

OK, brand new pilot here... :)
seems quite nice. I'm getting used to the voice from the tutorial (which is very nice and indept so far!)
I like this "new" voice. Does remind me a bit of marvin from hitch hikers to be honest.. but seems to fit :)

I think the idea of being able to manually set which voice you want would be great. CCP could even make a sexy male voice for female piloted ships. Personally I like the old voice better. Wife says the new voice sounds like a Brit Eeor (bah the depressed donkey from Winnie the Pooh)

The old voice was way better, this one sounds stoned and depressed, like she cant be bothered to even tell you if your warping or not

Hm i must be the minority who like the new voice like someone early said sounds all mysterious and sexy, but yeh must be down to taste so would be good to have the option to change. Lets just say now i leave the audio enabled

I want my old girl back. This new one sounds like she's trying to pick me up in a seedy bar. I feel dirty everytime I engage the autopilot. I know some folk like that sort of thing, but I want my nice, wholesome AI autpilot to talk to again.
With a bit of luck there'll be a we tweak soon (oficial or not) that can be done to get back the old girl.

CCP can tell me off if they like its not hax0ring per sae
If u have a copy of resSND.stuff from pre patch eve. Simply rename the existing resSND.stuff to resSND.bak (don't copy the file and leave a file named 'copy of resSND.stuff'..u'll get a CCP debug error message) then copy in the old resSND.stuff file and hey presto u'll only have to listen to the manic psycho woman from hell if u have autopilot on (Thats the 'Warping to Stargate' voiceover rest of autopilot voice notifications will be fine). All other voices will be the originals.
How's that for your 'unofficial' tweak eh
