If you are worried about now being pirated during your travels since the map change, here is a simple solution.
DON'T avoid the low sec systems. Fact of the matter is that we ALL have to go though those few low sec systems now and no pirate in their right mind will try and kill you during busy hours because he will get owned by another traveler before he even gets close to scooping the loot from your burning ship.
The only way that those systems will become killing zones is if you avoid using them enough that pirates can pick normal travellers off in manageable numbers.
Just dont transport anything vital during quiet time and everyone should be fine.

It's not the pirates that I worry about...

No way in hell I'm going through low security systems while hauling 300 mil in cargo, yeah I use an occator but still that's called not worth the risk. If they don't "fix" the AP, it's annoying but possible to manually plot your course around those systems as needed so you stay in 0.5+

Actually it does. If a system is incredibly busy then it will be very hard for a few pirates to camp the gate effectivly, as you would have 'vigilante' players responding with force, and 'scavenger' players who were passing by and saw the action, then try to get the loot before the pirate.
An interesting change. Used to be able to make a run from inner empire to outer 0.0 space without seeing a single person in the wee hours. Now that will be the dangerous times.

Virtually any amount of disorganised travellers is manageable for 5-10 organised gate rats tbh..

We are working on a new ui control in the client that will allow to tune the security rating 'tolerance' of the pathfinder, i.e. how strict it should be in enforcing security limits for 'prefer safe' and 'prefer unsafe' routes. In this way people can tune the paths according to their needs. This might be relased as a mini-patch at a suitable time, once it has cleared QA.

if you got such a load in your Occator, why not getting an escort? the Occator has a bit of armor as far as I know, and I used to go through low sec in Bessies...

the people who snipe for fun usualy don't care about their security rating... it's the pirates who need their suprise efect to web and scramble a target in space, who need a good security standing... the same pirates who you won't see gatecamping much... --- still in search for a minmatar mentor |
