Perhaps we would all be happier if CCP halted their funding and work on EVE and instead invest in an organized Eve-players-fighting-ring. They could set up a ring, fly some of the angriest and most sensitive eve players to this central location and let them handle their flames in person. As an added bonus we even get to see who is who they say they are, and who is not. Hrm, come to think of it, maybe i can start this up and make a little money off of it. ;) Any contestants?

<< you're complaining about the in-game news being roleplayed? what next? complaining that the agents roleplay? >>
The only news availible is my complaint. You'll notice that not everything found there is some RP answer for a bug.
They can roleplay the ingame news all they want. That's not the first place I check for information. I check the dev blog and the news page before logging in. And what's the latest earth shattering event being tackled in the dev blog?
EVE optimized Since release we have optimised EVE considerably both in loading and general operations (you might not have noticed as the improvement has been gradual).
It is almost coming to the point were people are searching for ways to use all that extra CPU given back by EVE ;-).
If you are one of those people you can join us in The Search for EVE.
We will also do our best to take back the gained cycles with new and exciting features :).
CCP's SETI@home project. Nevermind the piracy issue. Nevermind the corp offices issues. Nevermind the real issues with Concord. Nevermind the trade issues (being mostly availible to those that can be online right after reboot, which btw I can do). Nevermind any of the real issues being brought up on these forums constantly.
Tell me, just what do you get for constantly sucking up to them? They giving you free time on your account for every 10 posts your provide saying how wonderful everything is?
Sorry, that's not my style. What I want isn't that straining either. Though too many of you act like CCP is staffed by toddlers made of porcelain, that's they'd both break and cry if not told constantly how much you love them. All I want is:
1) Clear information concerning an important bug in the game. Hearing some yarn about how the gate technicians broke something is scant comfort to some people when they actually get caught by a bug. Some people prefer the facts.
2) CCP's representatives to act like they know what the hell they're doing. Oh yeah, this thread went straight into the ****ter. Right about here: <<Jash, you are such a dork. I don't care how they put it peeps like you would still find a way to *****. oh and stop saying crap like "frustrating to the people they involve" you don't speak for me or anyone playing this game. if you got a prob with something then use the pitition.
now go away cuz your making the forums smell bad. >> I'll gladly take any warning the mods want to throw at me, [b]THE MINUTE THEY START WARNING PEOPLE LIKE HIM[b] for doing the same. Until then, kiss my ass cause I'm fighting fire with fire from now on.

Wish you people would learn to type faster.
Like I said earlier, next time you find a problem at work why don't you try explaining it to your boss using interpretive dance?
Or a better question for you: Why do you think it's appropriate to relay important information in a manner that can be be easily confused or misunderstood? I bet people are still wondering if anything besides skills and agents going awol from "First Contact Festival celebrated tomorrow".

Oh btw, since you're so RP literate tell me another thing:
Does this bug only involve Concord Agents or all Agents? And what proof of that can be found in that post?

Well it's an RPG and they RP the news including bugs. I don't mind at all tbh. In fact some of them make me laugh.
Not that people being stuck is funny. But a travel advisory is funny. In RL stuff happens, in games it's always going to be a piece of bad code. So for them to change the format into something that would be RLish is cool.
As for it not being clear to you. A simple post asking for clarification would be appropriate.
The original post is a bit of a rant from my perspective and looks like it is fueled by other things besides RP'd news. But hey I could be way off.

from the news post. the first line, in fact:
"The empires have launched a major investigation into the behavior of Concord agents"
it says Concord agents, does it not? why interperet it any other way?
and your analogy is horrible. if i found a problem at work what would you have me do? put it in the simplest terms possible? that's absurd. i'd explain the problem using technical terms maybe a lay person couldn't understand, but they shouldn't be above my boss.
if you didn't understand that news post then you didn't really read it.

Okay, it's starting to get boring trying to explain this to people that would still defend CCP even if CCP poisoned their pets. I find it innappropriate (and always have mind you) to relay bug information through roleplay. It goes against everything I know of concerning properly supporting your customer base. And quite honestly, it sometimes annoys the crap out of me when I'm one of those effected by a bug. I don't want to hear some crap about the Emperor celebrating his birthday, gate technicians going on vacation or educators going on strike. I want to hear:
1) What the issue is 2) What is the scope of the issue 3) What ETA, if any, can be given on resolving the issue.
Simple, straightforward facts. Would prolly take less time than creating some elaborate story about how the server controlling XXX system is offline and should be restarted within the hour.
And that wasn't an analogy. That was a suggestion.

I thought it meant the broken cops were fixed. By that I mean for the last two days the cops did nothing to you if you attacked/were attacked in 1.0 security space. I'm glad it's fixed now and I'm glad the word didn't really get out because my bestower was full of robotics :-)
Maybe they choose to RP that info so as not to cause panic? ----------------------------------------- Sig rented by Drethen Nerevitas. |

"it says Concord agents, does it not? why interperet it any other way?"
Because the term "Concord agent" itself is ambiguous and can be interpreted in number of ways? And because few in-game NPC agents have anything to do with Concord?..

Actually I skipped replying to that one because most people don't have a Concord agent. Concord is selective from what I've seen and doesn't taken dock-ins. So it makes no sense to single out Concord agents

This is the first MMO I played where even bugs are roleplayed as far as news. You could always go play one of the others that don't do this instead of wanting CCP to change something YOU don't like and/or understand.

There is a thin line between innovation and breaking what already works. You ever figure that other games don't roleplay their bugs to avoid confusion and miscommunication?

Exactly. Some agents are even from pirate factions, i.e. work /against/ Concord, so to consider them "Concord agents" would be ridiculous...
edit: unless that means only Concord agents are about to be fixed and the rest will remain broken and stingy.. :S

Molly has turned mean since she teamed up with Setec.
Bad influence, I tell ya.
As for CCP RP'ing their bugs - I think it's a neat idea.
