Edited by: noVakane on 07/07/2005 21:22:44 Hey all, I've played Eve since beta. I took a year or so off cause I was loosing interest. I came back because the cold war patch seemed promising. Unfortunately, the game is still really slow. I don't want to have to watch TV while I play in order to keep me busy. So what am I missing? I'd like to do general NPC farming, with the occasional voyage out to PVP land. Like most MMOs. My beef is that I feel like I need a good 2 hrs to do anything productive. Don't get me wrong, I'm not ****ing and moaning. I'm just looking for some suggestions. Can I set myself up so I can just jump on, fight some NPCs or do interesting agent missions? (not watching my ship fly at gates and stations drop useless junk off). Right now I have a level 2 agent (quality 17) for Chief Executive Panel. Is it worthwhile switching companies or dropping myself to a lesser quality agent to get better missions? I hope to hear news about a faster method to collect loot soon as well. The current method of spending 15-20 minutes rounding up cans is rediculous. Eve is the game I've always wanted to play and I have faith in it's potential. I just hope I can maintain my interest until it matures. Any constructive advice would be appreciated. |

I had an idea that I'm going to make as a suggestion. A transporter module that allows you to open cans from any distance but only if you've targetted them.
Have you tried fitting your ship out for speed? Or perhaps fitting it out for close-range combat with a good tank so that loot is eaier to pick up. Sometimes I don't bother with loot at all, I just do the mission and go back to base. It's altogether not that important. If you MUST know what's in the cans, fit a cargo scanner and target the cans then scan them, that'll tell you what's in them with a fair degree of accuracy. Then you can decide whetehr or not to pick them up.

Transporter module is a great idea. I take it this doesn't exist? Your suggestion of making a close range scrapper is a good idea too. As powerful as missles are for caldari it's not exactly an exciting fight. As a caldari what should I try to trick out as a gunboat? I fly a caracal right now. I also have a merlin and a blackbird. Any thoughts on knowing where to hunt? I've tried using the scanner, but I can never figure out what belt to go to cause you can't zoom in. Trial and error isn't the most effective method.

Edited by: Dark Shikari on 07/07/2005 21:34:39 My favorite trick to collect loot is a Sigil with 5 nanofibers (the better named the better), 10mn AB II, and cap rechargers in the rest of the mids. It can easily go through 5-10 cans a minute or more. --

The best way to have fun in EVE is to join a good corp. Try to find one you like.

if you want excitement join a large alliance. They're always at war with people..
it's a rush flying through yulai if you're at war with half the people that play the game. ________

Edited by: noVakane on 07/07/2005 22:04:57 Has anyone tried the game, Nexus: The Jupiter Incident? It's a great game from a gaming perspective. It's more along the lines of how I'd like to see Eve play as far as combat. Even homeworld's combat interface is pretty fun. Eve feels clumsy, complicated and slow by comparison. Unfortunately, Nexus is a poorly funded/written game so it's not worth playing at length, but Eve lovers should check out the demo at least. |

I recently played Nexus:TJI, not bad overall, but the complexity of the UI made constant pausing of the game to issue commands mandatory to play through the later levels, slowing progress down to something incredibly worse than EVE.

Find a dead end system, with a lvl3/4 internal security / security agent for any corp, they will hand out constant 0-2 jump combat missions.... good quick easy fun! I'll even recommend 1 if you contact me ingame! --------------------------------------

Try not to compare games from different genres, it only makes you look like a rabid brainless fanboy who has no grasp of game mechanics.
