So, i'm running a Serp Extravaganza. Three or four groups of NPCs in the first set. Attack one group; wait for all NPCs in that group to start firing on me; launch 11 drones and immediately order them to attack one ship.
Six drones attack that one ship, the other five go wandering off on their own and fire on all the other groups, so I have four battleships, sixteen cruisers and about twenty frigates all attacking me at once.
WHAT THE HELL????

So npcs recognize you as agressor now? Earlier it seemed that stray drone attacks would only make them aggressive towards the drone. Maybe something to counter the use of "decoy drone" tactic that some people do. I imagine a BS npc would have had quite some trouble nailing a hobgoblin.
To me it seems that drones have an activation range, and that they may attack any hostile target that gets within that range even if they're on their way to a designated target. And I don't like it... I've been near losing ships becuase the drones found some structure more interesting than my health...

hit attack multiple times and change targets as soon as they kill it.
Always keep them on a tight leash.
drones are wonderfull when facing swarms but have an own intelligence.

you really, really have to be careful when it comes to drones and high level missions, they are ebil and will try to knock you off whenever they have the chance.

they also like to atack structures on their own and if that happens, full spawn atacks you.

my drones kept attacking these hack cans in cosmos. all npcs, even at 80k, kept locking me in my cruiser and ignoring the frigs there.

i've fond out you have to have your drone menu expanded to be able tocontrol them. otherwise they do their own stuff
