I'm not asking for an overhaul, but something that would last this game a lot longer would be if there were options for higher resolution textures and updated lighting effects. Maybe even some extra particle/explosion effects.
Something for us mega-PC users to brag about :)

I agree. Highres textures, shaders and such seems like a nifty feature to implement soon. I can atm run 5-6 instances of EVE with 4xAA 16xAF in 1280x1024 without much problems.

Part of me is still stunned by the idea that people are asking for graphical updates for EVE.
It seems like not too long ago that we were all wondering if we'd have to upgrade just to get EVE to run. ____________________________________ Justice is the only thing I have left. The lives of thousands be damned. |

Edited by: HaKuSa on 10/07/2005 03:24:08 Edited by: HaKuSa on 10/07/2005 03:23:59 Eve has a GREAT graphical engine, it runs really smoothly, and it's well optimized. However, it's true that some upgrades are possible :
- Glow effect (like Guild Wars) : it's not that hard to code, and looks great :)
- Higher resolution textures : now that's some work... but that's what we notice the most ... we got our ship in the middle of the screen, it HAS to look nice :)
- Shaders : same thing, that would need quite some time to do for all ships, but it would look amazing.
- Motion Blur effect (when warping ?) : why not ? :p
- Particles for engine trails : simple sprites looks ok, but with some particles it would really make the thing nicer.
Now the "I dream of this" part, not really graphical but heh :
-*****pit : even if it's something simple with NO controls, only a view, i would give a better idea of the size of the ship (yeah we don't always realise we are flying HUGE ships sometimes :p )
- Bars in stations : OMG It would be !!!! "no words can describe this sorry"... being able to drink a beer with some friends haha :p or sitting next the the highest bounty pirate of eve ! :D
voila :)

a new high(er) resolution textures option would be nice, but I'd much prefer they fix the current texture problems.
the pratically unfinished Apoc and Armag textures have been screaming for an update forever now, your view is normally from behind them to see where you are going, but that's where the most texture problems are and just made all the more prominant since you end up staring right at them...
then some of the spires on the Raven in particular are aparently textured with over streched textures.
the amarr shuttle still has some "odd" flickering textures and generally, what we have needs to be polished to a shine before we start looking to buy a new set of silveware.

Your current set of silverware being dented and tarnished is an excuse to get a new set ;P
But seriously, EVE's graphics are great the way they are. Motion blur during warp would be awesome (Or some other warp effect... Like everything outside your "warp tunnel" becomes warped and.. like... changes weird colors o_O
High-res textures as well.

I'm happy as it is, if you decide to add high res textures can we atleast keep an option for the current textures :)

If you look carefully there is a red/blueshift when warping.
I also second the demand for high-res textures, especially as AFAIK CCP already has them, and they hadn't been included earlier, because back then even high end computers had problems coping with them. Thus, if they are there, polish em a little and include them, please... with some option to turn them off.

Better yet how about new Modle over hauls for the ships? Get them with a bit more detail, like thruster engins that light up when making a course changes. and new textures to add on top would be the best!

I'd also like to point out that the overlayed texture on almost all Caldari vessels is the same rust texture you get from the 3D Studio Max library. Don't know about legality concerning it, but I find it kinda funny to see them in another commercial product than Max itself. |

Nope, EvE Looks fine as it is.
You buy the Game for the PC, Not the PC for the Game.
I've recently Upgraded my PC So I'd be fine ,but think of all those players out there that would miss out.
Mind you if it was a scaleable option it would be a very good idea.
so Yes !
(Damn, I said yes and no in the Same Response, Mummy Im Confused,) |
