Prototype something that never makes it into the game. Hate to say, but I got a feeling that's spot on. How's WiS, station exploration, and atmospheric flight coming along? Not to be a ****, but really... You guys shelve actual content but will get kits for some rediculous stuff that even fewer people will ever use, and adds nothing to the overal game. Not going to lie, it annoys the hell out of me. there hasnt been a atmospheric flight prototype what so ever It was the demo that was shown at a fanfest many years ago.

I was really excited for maybe the past 20 minutes about CCP BunnyVirus' post mentioning atmospheric flight, in this thread about the Oculus Rift...
but now I realize... it's much more likely CCP BunnyVirus is simply using a what-if for the sake of argument (than it was CCP BunnyVirus leaking a huge development project in GD)_
I've got one more round of "for sure" resubs in me at this point. don't get me wrong, i'm trying to keep myself interested, too. gonna see if the oculus helps anything. would be great if there was a higher resolution version
but there's also the chance I will consolidate characters and put them in a carbon freeze http://themittani.com/ | http://evenews24.com/ || Vincent Athena-á||-áflycatcher waaaaat |

Just want to say I got the allusion from BunnyVirus, even if no one else did. Mr Epeen As a paying customer, who does indeed pay for future updates to the game, I have every right to question what they develop for EVE.
If it's a joke, maybe you can enlighten those of us who aren't privy to some kind of inside thing. Because all I read was an EVE dev saying they got kits but won't tell us what they're going to do with them.
When a developer says kit, I assume development kit. If it's for dust, that's fine. If it's for WoD, that's cool too.
But this isn't the dust or the WoD forums, and this thread is about being able to use a silly monitor visor with EVE; not dust or WoD.
And yeah, I'm one those guys that's been waiting almost a decade for WiS to actually get finished, and I'd be a little pissed if they were like "oh hey guys, no WiS, but now you can play EVE with a bunch of **** strapped to your face, yay!"
This sort of stuff doesn't improve EVE, add anything new to the game, or help it attract more people. |

ok fair point. but how hard would it be for a company whose product is a bundle of code, to make their game support a piece of tech
how much money have you paid CCP since you started playing? I have a feeling it's enough that you could expect something more.
about the development cost and scope of new features: I think WiS might be more than they could chew, so it's not the same scale as a return of 3D support and a scaled interface
now... one reason a visor wouldn't be in CCP's best interest for EVE is it would lock the user's eyeballs to one client, and that's not the direction this game has been travelling lately. http://themittani.com/ | http://evenews24.com/ || Vincent Athena-á||-áflycatcher waaaaat |

Great news that CCP is receiving some kits. Oculus Rift looks like it's gonna be a game changer in video games, with low latency, fast refreshing screens and 110 degrees field of view. Would love to be able to look around in any direction and feel fully immersed in space while I'm playing Eve. |

Don't be such a luddite.
There always has been and will be large interest in VR.
If they ever get it working (where it doesn't hurt your eyes) and can produce it at a reasonble cost, it will sell like hotcakes sprinkled with ******* (Dr Roxo's favorite drug).
Besides its not as if they are spending a large portion of their budget on the project. What a few goggles and the dev kit? The tracking code is probaly already created by the OEM. They just need to plug it in to EVE current code.
Its not going to kill WIS but spending maybe two employees time on it in their off time. "Entitlement" is a euphemism for "I hate the way you play and it makes me cry like a baby". If you fantasize about being immoral it means you enjoy being immoral deep down. |

There's also always been a big interest in cold fusion.
The ocular thing isn't VR either.
Team avatar was like a 5 man team. Team avatar doesn't exist anymore. If they couldn't have team avatar finish content that's already in the frigging game, it's pretty hard to justify having people assigned to work on something only a few people would actually use, and has no overal benefit to the game or the company.
ARMA supported TrackR, or whatever it's called. It didn't help either ARMA games

Not going to lie, it annoys the hell out of me. It annoys you that they might spend a few days getting a pre-distortion filter into the renderer because in that time they could make an entire new videogame to put inside EVE (in the hopes that it won't be a disaster that loses them subs again)?

The demo was built in Unity using EvE art assets.
The result was funky, might be good.
I would even ponder it since I had problems with my stomach even watching the demo.
But I'm odd, EVR might actually become a game.
