Hi everybody,
I just want to say that I hate these "hey, can someone give me a loadout on XXXXX ship?" and the disturbing part is, it's ALWAYS the same ships! (moa, thorax, rupture, etc. etc.)
Can you just STOP making such threads and read the OLD outfit threads, it should be ALOT of them now.
BTW, why fly someone else's ship instead of making your OWN, rare outfit? C'mon stop beeing such a lamo, the fun part with EVE is that you are allowed to be special.
Thank You

Uh, where is the search function?
I feel your pain, but unfortunately people just don't seem to have too much of a clue. If I see a loadout request for something interesting or unusual, I might make an answer, but since I started reading, I have learned to just ignore anything that mentions Moa loadout, Rifter loadout, Rupture loadout, Thorax loadout, or any other common ship. Frankly I've read it all 20 times before, so I really don't feel like I'm missing anything.

I want to hunt some .1 pirates.
Can someone give me a good velator loadout?
...but seriously, he's right. Don't ask someone else, think up your own. I really like wondering about all the different kind of setups I could use....I think the best part of eve is figuring out neat ship loadouts. * * *

For the most part i agree with you guys. But imagine if you would a relative n00b who's isk poor ,plunks down most of the money in his wallet on a shiny new frigate. Said n00b would want to make sure he equips that ship with the best modules his meager savings can buy. Hence, the over abundance of loadout requests. Not everyone can afford to try out several different specs at a time.
Also, seeing as each patch changes the effectivness of said loadouts going back to old loadout posts wouldnt really work.

Point taken Frozenghost. However there is something to be said about trying and learning.
One of my pet peeves about "How do I loadout/equip/setup my ship" posts is that there really isn't a lot of choice out there if you know what you are going to do with that ship. For example, if you are loading a frigate for long-range gunnery, you are loading either 250mm artillery, a 125mm railgun, or a pirate variation of these two. It doesn't really matter if you're flying a Merlin, a Punisher, a Rifter, an Incursus, a Condor, a Slasher, an Executioner, or an Atron. The only real question is how many guns do you have the turret space and the powercore for. You have almost the same deal for frigate level short range. Do you want Neutron Blasters, 200mm Autocannons, or a pirate variation of one? Are you using a cruiser instead? Try 650mm artillery or 250mm railguns.
On the flip side of that, the skills a character trains for can easily make any particular loadout either too lean, or too hefty for someone else. Two skills every warrior should have at level 4, and usually doesn't, is Engineering and Electronics. These boost powergrid and CPU avialable by 20%, respectively. If I make a recommendation for weapon and equipment that assumes someone is going to have those skills at that level, and somebody else fails to get it all in because they don't have the skill, then I get in trouble for "not knowing what I'm talking about." That's why when I do talk about a loadout, I specifically mention Engineering or Electronics as necessary.
Third, as you said, because things get rebalanced between patches, any loadout mentioned a month ago is invalid. (Or is it?) Unfortunately what this means to me is that if a warrior can't be bothered to learn how ship fitting works, then he's going to be back again and again, and again with the same question. And unfortunately for me, they have every right to use this forum to post that question, as this really is the most appropriate place to post that.
What I would like to do is to teach them just how to do it themselves. But I learned the hard way that newbies don't read the forums any more than they absolutely have to. Newbies far too often don't know how to search a forum (and the current forum implementation doesn't make that easy). And newbies typically don't even bother to read what has been posted before they make a post of their own.
Well, that's forum life. While I like helping people, there is a limit to my patience as well. Answering a question once or twice is fine. Answering a question half a dozen times is not. I would never make it in Polaris.
